The theory of attribution has been widely used in marketing studies. However, this theory contains some limitations as well. Using the context of protests of tempe producers, this study aims at minimizing the limitations by integrating the attribution theory with collective action theories, prosocial theories, and expectancy-value theories in explaining and predicting the behavior of product consumers and individuals/groups that joined the protests. To answer the research objectives, this study proposed a model integrating the attribution of perceived motives of tempe producers joining the, empathy towards tempe producers, attitude towards tempe producers, and subsequent purchasing intention. The results indicate that the proposed model is supported by the data. This implies that the integration of the attribution theory with collective action theories, prosocial theories, and expectancy-value theories can minimize the limitations with regard to the criticism in neglecting motivation in attribution processes and confounding between attribution processes and attributional processes.

<p><em>ABSTRACT</em></p><p><em>Indonesia is one of the largest Moslem population countries in the world. It leads to the increasing of halal product demand in Indonesia. The awareness to consume halal product becomes a large market potential for producers to produce their halal products. Nowadays, halal is not only purely about religion matter, but also about business and trade. The objective of this study is to investigate the factors affecting customers on purchasing halal buying interest on processed food. We use a purposive sampling method with 109 respondents who are customers of the supermarkets and minimarkets in Bogor City/District, Indonesia. While data analysis is done by SEM-PLS method, this study uses brand image, perceived quality, perceived value, halal certification, health reason, halal awareness, and halal marketing as the factors which are affecting the halal purchase intention of the customers. The result showed that health reason, halal awareness, and perceived value have a significant and positive direct effect on purchasing intention. Halal marketing also shows a significant and positive effect on purchasing intention. While halal marketing shows a negative and significant effect on purchasing intention. The food safety, halal certification, brand image, and perceived quality show the same effect which has no direct effect on purchasing intention. Furthermore, food safety has an indirect effect on purchasing intention through health reason. Halal certification has an indirect effect on minat beli through brand image variable. Meanwhile, brand image and perceived quality have an indirect effect through perceived value variable on purchasing intention.</em></p><p><em><br /></em></p><p>ABSTRAK</p><p>Indonesia adalah salah satu negara dengan populasi Muslim terbesar di dunia. Hal ini menyebabkan meningkatnya permintaan produk halal di Indonesia. Kesadaran untuk mengkonsumsi produk halal menjadi potensi pasar yang besar bagi produsen untuk memproduksi produk halal mereka. Saat ini, halal tidak hanya murni soal agama, tapi juga soal bisnis dan perdagangan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi minat pelanggan dalam membeli pada makanan olahan halal. Kami menggunakan metode voluntery sampling dengan 109 responden yang merupakan pelanggan supermarket dan minimarket di Kota/Kabupaten Bogor, Indonesia. Sedangkan analisis data dilakukan dengan metode SEM-PLS. Penelitian ini menggunakan citra merek, persepsi kualitas, persepsi nilai, sertifikasi halal, kesehatan, kesadaran halal, dan Pemasaran halal sebagai faktor yang mempengaruhi niat pembelian halal pelanggan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesadaran halal, alasan kesehatan, dan persepsi nilai berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap niat beli. Pemasaran halal juga menunjukkan efek positif dan signifikan terhadap niat beli. Sedangkan pemasaran halal menunjukkan efek negatif dan signifikan terhadap niat beli. Keamanan pangan, sertifikasi halal, citra merek, dan kualitas yang dirasakan menunjukkan efek yang sama yang tidak berpengaruh langsung pada niat beli. Selanjutnya, keamanan pangan berpengaruh tidak langsung terhadap niat beli melalui alasan kesehatan. Sertifikasi halal memiliki efek tidak langsung terhadap niat beli melalui variabel citra merek. Sedangkan citra merek dan persepsi kualitasmemiliki pengaruh tidak langsung melalui persepsi nilai variable terhadap niat beli.</p>

The current study investigated three user experience scales, the GUESS-24, the ENJOY, and the UEQ-S scale, as well as their relationship to gameplay continuance and purchasing intention for six popular online games. Results indicated that each of the three scales (GUESS-24, ENJOY, UEQ-S) could be used to predict continuance and purchase intention in the games of interest. The ENJOY and GUESS-24 performed better in predicting continuance intention than the UEQ-S. The GUESS-24 performed the best in terms of predicting purchase intention.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) in management domains is a well-known concept that links corporate interests and environmental/community values. CSR is considered a strategic policy that offers environmental and social competitive advantages. Organizations consider that CSR-based goodwill provides a tactical competitive edge and sustainable growth. The goal of this paper is to show how CSR programs affect consumers’ purchasing intention in the context of Pakistan. In addition, the effect of customer awareness has been studied as a moderator between CSR and purchasing intention. To this end, the study has conducted a survey and gathered Pakistani customers’ responses, and structural equation modeling has been used to evaluate the results. The study concludes that CSR activities favorably affect customer purchasing intentions directly as well as indirectly through improving brand image and trust, and customer awareness of CSR activities plays a moderating role. The implications and future research directions are discussed.

For the 21st Century marketing managers, the globalization has resulted in a fierce battle of the brands at the local and global levels. It has opened new brand investment avenues for the local and global brand advertising managers that are having both the promotional challenges and opportunities. The local and global businesses are rapidly expanding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa especially in its provincial Capital Peshawar. For the same reason, the brand managers are always in search of devising the most effective advertising techniques. Celebrity endorsement technique is amongst one of them. The current study aims to explore the effectiveness of celebrity endorsement as an advertising technique and investigates its relationship with the purchase intention of the buyers. The study has been conducted by taking 790 respondents from the urban and sub urban areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The impacts of various determinants of celebrity endorsement models were checked through simple linear regression analysis with the consumer purchasing intention. As a result, positive relationship was found between the celebrity endorsements and the buying intention of the buyers. The study has described useful academic as well as managerial implications for both the local and global brand advertisers.

Contextual mobile advertising, which has the advantages of strong interactivity and immersive experience, will be the development direction of Internet advertising in the future. Although past research has explored the effects of contextual mobile advertising, little research has studied the effect on consumers’ behavior from the perspective of contextual advertising traits. Thus, this study combined the Scene Theory and the Theory of Planned Behavior to construct the model of advertising effectiveness mechanism. By analyzing survey data from a representative sample of 340 mobile consumers, the validity of the model was proved. The results showed that contextual stimulation, contextual interaction, and content accuracy, as contextual factors in mobile advertising, can positively influence consumers’ attitudes toward mobile advertising, which in turn stimulate purchasing intention. The theoretical and practical implications of these findings were also discussed.

Recently in Malaysia, a substantial number of consumers have been found to be avoiding online shopping as they prefer to shop in physical stores. This scenario brings up the issue of whether Malaysian consumers are ready technologically to shop online. To tackle this issue, a review of the concept of technology readiness is made to help explain Malaysian consumers’ online purchase intention behaviour. Technology readiness is chosen here because the concept reflects an individual’s predisposition in the usage and adoption of new technology. For the purpose of this review, this study selects technology readiness concept as proposed by Parasuraman  (2000). From the review, this study found that technology readiness has been measured in the past either as a single (unidimensional) or a multidimensional construct involving four factors, namely, optimism, innovativeness, discomfort and insecurity. A summary on past researchers’ findings in identifying the relationship between technology readiness (and its proposed dimensions) with technology usage is included in this review. For example, technology readiness was found to have a significant influence on behavioural intention in using mobile commerce to purchase travel-related service. Additionally, technology readiness motivator (optimism and innovativeness) and inhibitor (discomfort and insecurity) were identified to be related to intention to use technology. Based on the review, this study proposes a model to help explain the user’s intention to purchase online situation. In the proposed model, both technology readiness motivators and inhibitors are suggested to show positive and negative influences respectively on the user’s intention to purchase online. This review is thought to be beneficial to many. For instance, researchers would find insights on the usefulness of technology readiness and on how it has been and can be applied for further investigation. As for marketing practitioners, the review would help guide them understand the influence technology readiness has on consumers behaviour intention in adopting online shopping which they could apply for future marketing strategy.

Purpose The purpose of this study is to examine the role of attitude as a mediator in exploring the Halal cosmetics purchase intention of Indian Muslim women. Various drivers of electronic word of mouth (eWOM) (quality, quantity, consistency and quantity) have been tested as antecedents of purchase intention through the lenses of the elaboration likelihood model (ELM). Design/methodology/approach The positivist paradigm approach has been used to test the proposed mediation model using structural equation modelling. Responses of 313 Indian Muslim women who read reviews shared on various social media platforms before making any halal cosmetics purchase intention have been used for the final analysis. Mediation was tested using bootstrapping. Findings The findings of the study revealed that attitude towards halal cosmetics mediates the relationships of various drivers of eWOM with halal cosmetics purchase intention. However, it was observed that this mediation was partial in the context of eWOM quality, eWOM valence and eWOM consistency. Furthermore, for eWOM quantity, the mediation effect was full as the direct impact of eWOM quality on halal cosmetics purchase intention was not significant but its indirect impact on the latter via attitude was found to be significant. Research limitations/implications This study adds to the marketing communication literature, especially in the context of eWOM. The study also validates ELM theory in explaining the attitude that shapes the halal cosmetics purchase intention, thus the current study enriches the ELM literature. Practical implications The current study offers several implications for halal cosmetics marketers. It offers various suggestions to them on how to capitalize on eWOM as it influences Indian Muslim women’s purchasing intention for halal cosmetics by shaping their attitude towards such cosmetics favourably. Originality/value With reference to halal cosmetics, the current study offers a new perspective by examining the purchasing intention for such cosmetics based on various drivers of eWOM. The attitude towards halal cosmetics as a mediator has helped in better explaining the purchase intention for halal cosmetics.

This study aims to determine the effect of Promotion on:1) Customer Purchase Decisions  at Roxy Swalayan Ende, 2) Purchasing Intention at Roxy Swalayan Ende, 3)Buying Interest on Customer Purchasing Decisions at Roxy Swalayan Ende, and 4)Promotion on Customer Decisions mediated by Buying Interest at Roxy Swalayan Ende. This research includes causality research using a quantitative approach. the samples in this study were customers who shop at Roxy Swalayan Ende amounting to 50 people. Data collection used a questionnaire while data analysis performed using Path Analysis. The data were collected using questionnaires that have been tested for validity and reliability. Path analysis was used to test the hypothesis of this study. The results of this study indicate that: 1)promotion has positive and significance influence on Customer Purchase Decisions with a beta Value of 0,469, 2) promotion has positive and significant effect on purchase intention at Roxy Swalayan with beta value of 0,582, 3)purchase intention has positive and significant influence on Customer purchasing decisions at Roxy Swalayan Ende with beta value of 0,438, 4) promotion has positive and significant effect on customer purchasing decisions mediated by buying interest has a beta value of 0,254

Purpose This study aims to assess young customers’ repurchasing intentions toward green plastic products by incorporating green trust model into green purchase intention model. It also evaluates the role of gender moderation in the green repurchase intention formation model. Design/methodology/approach A total of 314 young consumers of green plastic products in Bandung, Indonesia were determined for this study. This study used variance-based partial least squares (PLS) to evaluate the proposed model and examine the hypothesized relationship, by means of SmartPLS 3. The construct validity and reliability were evaluated by testing the measurement model, while the proposed hypotheses were examined by testing the structural model. Findings The assessment of the proposed model using PLS reveals that the incorporation of green trust model increases the prediction strength of green repurchase intentions model on green plastic products. Further, this study shows that, in general, gender did not moderate the formation of green repurchase intentions. Research limitations/implications Besides broadening the green repurchase intention theory, this finding offers a direction for green plastic businesses to improve their capability and their marketing strategies. This study offers an important contribution in understanding young consumers’ intentions to buy green plastic products, although it has several drawbacks. In the future, to increase its generalization, this study can be replicated on young consumers in other developing and developed countries, and this model can also be tested in other segments. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, there are no published studies that have tested the repurchase intention model for green plastic products, and none of the past studies have incorporated these models to explain repurchase intention toward green plastic products. Furthermore, the inclusion of gender roles in green repurchase intentions for green plastic products is important to be explored.

Abstract Despite overwhelming interest in the role of social capital in international development, attention to the interplay of community-based development aid with local collective-action dynamics in Central Asia and particularly Tajikistan has remained limited. This paper investigates donor-induced local institutions for collective action in rural Tajikistan with a focus on the introduction of a community-based health insurance. Social capital and collective-action theories are used to interpret results from qualitative research in two Rushan District villages in the Gorno-Badakhshan region. By highlighting the role of donor embeddedness, and the perceived legitimacy of different decision-making structures, the article contends that the perception of such externally-induced change depends on the community’s capacity to reach beyond the intra-communal solidarity network through bridging and linking capital. The findings suggest this can be fostered by addressing trust, and the role of effective development brokers, with due attention to power relations within communities and towards external agents.
