AbstractThe purpose of this study was to know the quality of Boer liquid semen during storage by adding sweet orange essential oil and gentamicin into the tris yolkextender.The semenlongevity test was carried out by storing semen in a closed tube at room temperature and refrigerator, and evaluated motility and Viability every 3 hours at room temperature and 12 hours in refrigerator. The results showed that the characteristics of the liquid semen, with the addition of 1% of essential oils showed percentage of motility and Viability significantly higher than 0.5% and without the addition of essential oil, either stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator. This may be related to the content of essential oils of sweet orange peel containing flavonoids and antibacterials that are capable of maintaining liquid semen quality of Boer Goat.In addition, gentamicin contains antibacterials capable of suppressing the growth of bacteria which can damage and durabilitythe spermatozoa.Keywords: Boer Goat,Gentamicin, Liquid semen, Sweet orange

One of factors that cause a bad quality of Boer Goat frozen semen is the growth of bacterial. This can be overcome by adding antibiotics such as streptomycin. To further suppress the growth of bacteria can be added other ingredients that contain antibacterials such as sweet orange essential oil. The purpose of this research is to know the percentage value of Membrane Integrity and Acrosome Integrity on Boer Goat frozen semen with addition sweet orange essential oil and streptomycin. The method used was experimental using Completely Randomized Design with 5 treatments and 5 replications. The treatment in this research is addition 0%, 0,25%; 0.5%; 0.75% and 1% sweet orange essential oil on tris yolk and streptomycin extender. The results showed the best treatment addition combination streptomycin and sweet orange essential oil to percentage Membrane Integrity and Acrosome Integrity is increase 1% sweet orange essential oil.Keywords: Boer Goat, essential oil, frozen semen, streptomycin, sweet orange.

<pre>Sweet orange peel is a waste. There is a high economic valued chemical compound of essential oil called limonene which has a distinctive fresh aroma.. Essential oil of Limonene  was extracted from orange peel then will be applied as aromatherapy candles. The taking of essential oils is using distillation of liquid vapor for 3 hours. After that, the essential oil is added to aromatherapy wax and stearic acid. The volume of essential oil extracted from distillation in this study is 2,3 mL with weight 1.957 grams from 200 grams of orange peel. The addition of essential oil is 3 mL for sample 1 and 5 mL for sample 2.. The aromatherapy candles had tested for flame duration and product acceptance in the community. ABSTRAKAir kelapa muda varietas viridisdapat dijadikan pengencer aletrnatif semen cair bagi program IB di daerah minim sarana semen beku. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menguji pengaruh penggunaan air kelapa muda viridissebagai bahan pengencer terhadap kualitas semen cair kambing Boer setelah didinginkan. Dilaksanakanselama 3 bulan di Laboratorium Fakultas Peternakan UBUnit SumberSekar,Malang. Metodenya yaitu eksperimen. Semen dari  3 pejantan Boer umur 3-5 tahun, dikoleksi seminggu sekali dengan VB. Air kelapa mudaviridis umur 5-7 bulan serta tris aminomethane sebagai kontrol. Didesain menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan 2 perlakuan yaitu P0 (tris aminomethane + 10% KT) dan  P1 (air kelapa muda viridis + 10% KT) masing-masing diulang 10 kali. Data dianalisis dengan analisis Ragam (Anova) dengan software Genstat 18. Variabelnya yaitu motilitas individu, viabilitas dan abnormalitas. Hasil penelitian yaitu motilitas individu pada P1bertahan sampai 4 hari (40,5± 24,3%), viabilitas terbaik sampai hari ke-5 (42±24,6%), abnormalitas terendah di hari ke-7(1,31± 0,6). Kesimpulannya, Pengencer air kelapa muda viridis dapat mempertahankan kualitas semen cair kambing Boer selama 4 hari untuk motilitas dan 5 hari untuk viabilitas.Kata Kunci:pengencer, air kelapa, varietas viridisABSTRACTYoung viridis coconut water could be used as an alternative to liquid semen diluent for artificial insemination program in the area with limited facility for frozen semen production. This study evaluated the use of young coconut water as a diluent on liquid semen quality of Boer goat after cold storage. This study was carried out for 3 months at Sumber Sekar Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, University of Brawijaya, Malang. The semen was collected from 3 Boer bucks aged at 3 to 5 years old. The semen collection was done once a week with the aid of artificial vagina. The diluents used were young Viridis coconut (5 to 7 months old) and tris aminomethane. The method used was an experiment in a randomized block design with 2 treatments and 10 replicates. The treatments used were T0: tris aminomethane + 10% egg yolk (control) and T1:  young Viridis coconut water + 10% egg yolk. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance using Genstat 18 software. The variables measured were sperm individual motility, viability, and abnormality. The results showed that the sperm individual motility in T1 survived up to 4 days (40.5± 24.3%), the best viability at 5 days (42.0±24.6%),  while the lowest abnormality at 7 days (1.31±0.6). It could be concluded that: 1. Tris aminomethane diluent has higher quality with the storage length up to 9 days, 2. Young Viridis coconut water diluent could preserve liquid semen quality of Boer goat up to 4 days for sperm motility and 5 days for sperm viability.Keywords: diluents, coconut water, viridis variety

Numerous articles on Salvia officinalis L. have been published regarding the composition of their essential oil. The considerable variation found may be due to the quality of the plant material as well as to the methods used for analysis. A simple GC-MS method was developed and optimized in the QbD approach, for the determination of sage essential oils. The optimization of GC-MS analysis was performed using different mobile phase flows, injection volumes, split ratios and temperature programs. The optimized method proved to be simple and can be successfully applied for the determination of sage essential oils.

Bedbugs are harmful human blood-sucking ectoparasites. The disadvantages of a bedbug bite cause itching, redness bumps, secondary infections, and anemia in children. Bedbugs controller so far uses harmful chemical pesticides, but reappearance of bedbugs indicates less effective chemical pesticides, and becomes a serious problem. So it needs safer controller for human health. This study aims to analyze the d-Limonene activity of orange peel (Citrus sinensis L.) in controlling the bedbug infestation (Cimex cimicidae). The study was conducted through 5 stages: d-Limonene isolation, GC-MS characterization, bioassay Y test d-Limonene nanoparticles, SEM characterization, and d-Limonene activity test on bedbug. The results showed that the essential oil of orange peel contained the main compounds as d-Limonene (90.018%), 1,6-Octadien-3-ol, 3,7-dimethyl- (3,017%), β-Myrcene (2.071%), Octanal (0.349%), 1-Octanol (0.589%), 1R-α-Pinene (0.688%), 6-Octen-1-ol, 3,7-dimethyl- (0.667%), 3-Cyclohexene-1- methanol, α, α, 4-trimethyl-, (S) - (1.453%), and Bicyclo [3.1.1] heptane, 6.6-dimethyl-2-methylene-, (1S) - (1.147%). The Bioassay Y test shows that d-Limonene was both repellent and fumigant, d-Limonene nanoparticles had uneven and irregular surface morphology, and in the flea activity test showed more than 50% bedbugs death. These research concluded that d-Limonene compounds from sweet orange peel had activity to control the bedbugs.

One of the causes of underdeveloped goats is low genetic quality. The way that can be done to improve the genetic quality of goats is to do cross-breeding with superior goats through Artificial Insemination. The community service aims to increase the knowledge of goat farmers in Ujung Teran Village, Langkat Regency on how to make goat frozen semen using tris yolk extender plus sweet orange essential oil for Artificial Insemination program along with the benefits that can be obtained. The method of service is by giving lectures and training to goat farmers. The results obtained from the implementation of this program are that farmers know how to make frozen semen of goat using sweet orange essential oil on the tris yolk extender and are willing to make Artificial Insemination in their goat cattle.
