Assessment results are something private and confidential to most students. One may feel uncomfortable if his or her result is shown publicly. In most academic institutions, students’ results are displayed on a printed paper that contains the assessment of the whole class and the paper is usually posted on the notice board outside of the lecturer’s office. Students need to present personally at the lecturer’s office to check their results. Most of the time, students' names would be hidden on the paper but, students are still able to see each other’s results. Indirectly, the students’ results are not private though the lecturer does not intend to share them. In order to improve the privacy level of result management, a mobile application was programmed. This mobile application is an innovative tool that embedding the use of technology to assist students and educators in this era of Industrial Revolution 4.0. In this paper, the proposed mobile application/ app named as Result Tracking-on-Cloud (RTC) was presented. The users concluded that it is energy and time saving as they can check their results without present physically to the lecturer's office. At the same time, the privacy of students' result is secured.

Attendance taking and maintaining is a tedious job in the academic institutions where the time of class is restricted. The manual attendance i.e., roll call or paper-based signature systems usually consumes more time and error prone and also possibility of recording proxy attendance is more. Attendance is one of the criteria in considering students’ eligibility for attending the external examinations and also for the promotion to the next semester / year, where these kinds of problems may cause severe effect on the academic institutions. As the strength of students in a class is increasing day by day; monitoring, awarding and maintenance of attendance has becoming a challenge for the academic institutions. As a solution, attendance can be recorded using anyone of the existing biometric techniques like fingerprinting, iris recognition, signature, face recognition etc. Face identification is the best method among all the earlier mentioned methods for implementing in the academic institutions as it does not require human intervention and it is a cost-effective technique. A novel student attendance recording and management system using a MATLAB application, LabVIEW, Camera interface and GSM is proposed in this paper. Students’ faces will be captured with the help of a camera connected to a computer and Eigen values of the captured images will be detected with the help of MATLAB executed by LabVIEW Mathscript node. LabVIEW, a graphical programming environment is adopted for acquiring face, processing and authenticating the student once the match is found. Authenticated student attendance will be updated, and a message will be sent with the help of GSM module interface to myRIO. Proposed system replaces the manual attendance system which improves the performance of existing system.

Indonesia has a great opportunity to use technological developments in the current 4th industrial revolution. The opportunity is based on the fact that from the total population of Indonesia, more than half of them are active internet users. The largest group of internet users in Indonesia is at the age of students, these groups of students are in the middle to college student level. To occupy the need for technology-based learning, it is necessary to modify and have some innovations to various learning tools in learning activities. This qualitative descriptive research will discuss the use of technology-based learning media with Quizizz as an application in English learning lecturing process. This study involved students of the 1st level of accounting study program who had passed English Class at the Universitas Islam Kadiri-Kediri (UNISKA). In general, the results of the study indicate that English lecturing process using the Quizizz is a fun and effective activity so that it is expected to continue to be used in further lecturing activities.

The development of information technology has a big influence in supporting business continuity among producers, consumers, distributors, and financial service institutions. The development of Financial Technology (Fintech) has now become a trend in modern society that follows the current developments. The positive side of technological development, especially in supporting fast and smooth financial services, can actually create a large gap in the readiness of the use of technology in the industrial revolution 4.0. Without strong preparation, this will increasingly create a big gap in the formation of the Fintech technology-based fraud chain. This paper discusses how a qualitative research using the grounded research model can find out the use of recht vacuum loopholes to commit fraud in the exploitation of technology. In addition, it also encourages the establishment of a regulation that supports the creation of a healthy Fintech ecosystem which is the main key in increasing Indonesia's economic growth. Factors influencing the occurrence of fraud include the lack of public knowledge about how to transact using Fintech, the looseness of applicable regulations, the arrogance of Fintech consumer in utilizing bug software Fintech to get profit as much as possible without thinking about legal consequences, the arrogance of the Fintech company in minimizing the large risks that will occur, and not maximum formation of the Fintech ecosystem with other traditional financial service institutions. The situation is exacerbated by the unavailability of the Whistleblowing System (WBS) through a complaint channel specifically for Fintech. The establishment of the Fintech ecosystem, with the adoption of an anti-fraud system as one of the factors that drive Indonesia's economic growth, can be done by creating a technology-savvy community, especially Fintech; making an integrity pact to support anti-fraud and anti-money laundering among regulators, the Fintech association, and the Fintech companies at the time of making official registration with the regulator; Regulators need to get rid of egotism between institutions by synchronizing verbally or nonverbally through technology channels that are automatically integrated between state institutions and preparing special channels for whistleblower systems or consumer complaints channel specifically for Fintech.

This study aims to develop a thematic learning media in the era of industrial revolution 4.0 by using educational games for elementary students that are valid, practical and effective. Thematic learning media using educational games is closely related to innovation and the use of technology following the demands of the industrial revolution 4.0 era to increase student attractiveness in learning. Media developed using the help of the Adobe Flash CS 6. program. The material in the form of media thematic which integrates several subjects. The development model used is 4-D (define, design, develop, disseminate). The research data was obtained from the validity test (media validation sheet), practicality (student and teacher response questionnaire), and effectiveness (student learning activities and results). Data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that the thematic learning media was valid (media content according to curriculum, attractive design and layout, ease of operation, easy to understand students' language, and clear presentation according to student characteristics), practical (clear contents and objectives, easy to read, attractive appearance, and can increase student interest in learning), and effective (can increase student activity and learning outcomes). Learning media using educational games can create a fun learning process.

A significant part of the high pressure gas transport system of Gasunie cannot be examined by in-line inspection techniques. To ensure safe operation of these pipelines, an External Corrosion Direct Assessment (ECDA) module for PIMSLIDER (a pipeline integrity management system) is currently under development. The functional specifications of this module are based on NACE RP0502-2002, a recommended practice for ECDA. In addition to this, a new probabilistic methodology has been adopted, to take account for uncertainties associated with ECDA and to quantify the contributions from aboveground surveys and excavations to the integrity of a pipeline. This methodology, which is based on Structural Reliability Analysis (SRA) and Bayesian updating techniques, is presented in more detail in paper IPC2006-10092 of this conference. The DA module of PIMSLIDER enables computerized storage, retrieval and processing of all appropriate pipeline data and therefore guarantees highly accurate, reproducible and time saving integrity analyses of the Gasunie grid. Another important function of this system is the ability to use the complete database of all pipelines to pre-assess the integrity of a particular pipeline. This automated retrieval of data from pipelines with similar characteristics and/or environmental conditions results in a substantial increase of accessible data and enables Gasunie to improve the reliability of applied statistics throughout the process. As a consequence, the overall cost of inspections and excavations can be greatly reduced. In the Pre-Assessment phase, the DA module assists the integrity manager in gathering and analyzing data necessary to determine the current condition of a pipeline. After collection and visualization of the available data, the user can identify suitable ECDA regions. Furthermore, the gathered data are used to construct prior distributions of parameters relevant to the SRA model, such as the number and size of corrosion defects and pipeline-related parameters. In the Indirect Inspections step, the DA module allows the user to store and analyze the data from aboveground surveys, in order to identify and define the severity of coating faults and areas at which corrosion activity may occur. The probabilistic methodology accounts for the individual performance of each applied survey technique in terms of missed defects and false indications, in general a major source of uncertainty in ECDA. In the Direct Examinations phase, excavations are carried out to collect data to assess possible corrosion activity. Subsequently, the ECDA module uses this information to update, among other things, the parameters concerning the performance of survey techniques, the number of defects and the corrosion rate. As a result, updated failure frequencies are calculated for each ECDA-region (after each excavation if required), which are then used by the DA module to advise the integrity manager if additional mitigating activities are necessary, or by defining a reassessment interval.

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to investigate the role of empowering leadership in intraorganizational knowledge management practices and to reveal how followers' acceptance and use of the hotel management system affect this role.Design/methodology/approachA serial multiple mediation model was evaluated and tested using partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). The database was created from the results of a structured questionnaire obtained from 401 employees working in hotels in Turkey.FindingsThe findings of the study reveal that empowering leadership has a significant effect on followers' knowledge creation, sharing and application. It was also found that the acceptance and use of the hotel management system were partially complementary to the impact of empowering leadership on followers' knowledge management practices.Practical implicationsThis paper gives an insight into the empowering leader's role in gathering useful knowledge, which is self-managed within the organization, by encouraging, motivating, providing autonomous and supportive conditions and making it beneficial and easier for their followers to adapt to the organization's technologies.Originality/valueThe efficient management of knowledge in organizations through the use of technology is possible by distributing power to subordinates through expanding the theory of knowledge management, leadership and the acceptance and use of technology. Furthermore, this study contributes to the literature by establishing the theoretical foundation of the relationship between empowering leadership and knowledge management practices based on Dalkir's knowledge management model and by discussing the mediating effect of the core variables of the UTAUT model.

SummaryBased on preceding work on a mobile learning scenario a mobile game like application, called “HistoBrick”, is being designed. It serves as a platform for exercises, assignments and self studies in combination with the higher education courseware on descriptive statistics. This paper focuses on the mobile application and ignores its embedding into a suitable Learning Management System (LMS). “HistoBrick” aims to provide a ubiquitous tool for learning about statistic distributions and their most important characteristic numbers. The didactical background is inspired by recent ideas about how learning works in the so-called constructivist setting, in general, and the findings of game-based learning, in particular.
