The article is dedicated to the study of the emotions of mystery in Gothic novels and thrillers. For many years, beginning with ancient times and up to modernity, mysteries and secrets were under thorough investigation by scientists. Mysteries, secrets and silence are associated with horror and happiness. That’s why they became the object of the proposed article. According to the linguacultural approach, the concepts were studied as complex phenomena, with composite meaning peculiar to the concepts under analysis. The concepts MYSTERY, SILENCE and SECRET, were considered as the typical situations, the structure of which consists of such spheres: actants, predicates, attributes, quantifiers, space and time. Each of these spheres represents part of the characteristics and makes it possible to create a general understanding of the concepts under analysis as of complex phenomena, which are most vividly revealed in Gothic novels and thrillers. These novels disclose the emotions of mystery as unknown, horrific and tense situations are the main feature of these genres. Mystery has the key role here and is the inseparable part of their understanding. It was demonstrated that the concepts under analysis represent positive and negative features which denote their ambiguous and binary character at the same time.

Moving and interacting with the environment require a reference for orientation and a scale for calibration in space and time. There is a wide variety of environmental clues and calibrated frames at different locales, but the reference of gravity is ubiquitous on Earth. The pull of gravity on static objects provides a plummet which, together with the horizontal plane, defines a three-dimensional Cartesian frame for visual images. On the other hand, the gravitational acceleration of falling objects can provide a time-stamp on events, because the motion duration of an object accelerated by gravity over a given path is fixed. Indeed, since ancient times, man has been using plumb bobs for spatial surveying, and water clocks or pendulum clocks for time keeping. Here we review behavioral evidence in favor of the hypothesis that the brain is endowed with mechanisms that exploit the presence of gravity to estimate the spatial orientation and the passage of time. Several visual and non-visual (vestibular, haptic, visceral) cues are merged to estimate the orientation of the visual vertical. However, the relative weight of each cue is not fixed, but depends on the specific task. Next, we show that an internal model of the effects of gravity is combined with multisensory signals to time the interception of falling objects, to time the passage through spatial landmarks during virtual navigation, to assess the duration of a gravitational motion, and to judge the naturalness of periodic motion under gravity.

The teacher occupies a special place in the history of any nation or the whole humankind because s/he educates and develops creators of the future. Therefore, it is necessary to understand fundamental concepts because their definition is a significant factor in the development of science and, to a big extent, predetermines the efficiency of problem solutions. This is particularly important for educational sciences, which imply human spiritual powers that exceed the cause-effect relationship. The category of ugdymas (education) was introduced by S. Šalkauskis during the period of the Independent Lithuania, and its content compares to upbringing in its broad sense in other languages. Such approach is also supported by other scientists (Laužikas, Maceina), who expanded the concept of education: the borders of this complex phenomena were defined, the genesis that complies with the human nature was revealed, the functions of education, based on inborn powers, were highlighted, the most important features of education were singled out and interweaving of activities of the educator and the educatee was shown. Only during the last decade of the soviet occupation a return to the category of education was observed again, whereas its fundamental extension was ensured after the Restoration of Lithuania’s Independence, when its boundaries (complying with the paradigm of liberal education, which is grounded on the spiritual origin of a human being and provides sense to the upbringing function in a contemporary manner) were determined at all levels (those of educational policy, theory, methodology). Having adopted The Thesaurus for Education Systems in Europe, the problems emerged as the main functions of education were eliminated from the active usage despite their huge significance defining the place of the teacher in the process of education. Since ancient times the activities of the teacher have been identified with his/her upbringing powers, which link with the maturity of teacher’s personality, as the most important and authentic instrument of education. It directly influences (evokes, elevates and encourages) the spread of the educatee’s personality and simultaneously ensures highest achievements in his/her cognitive activities (knowledge, abilities, skills). Moreover, rapid development of technologies leads to an increasing importance of personal qualities of employees that enable the control and change of their own powers. The fact that the exceptionality of the teacher is predetermined by his or her spiritual values is not even questioned. Therefore, their spread should comprise the core of pedagogical studies, whereas the study process should become education, which empowers preparation to teach others.

The article considers the historical aspects of the development of corruption from ancient times to the present. The study analyzed the existing views of various thinkers on this negative phenomenon. The study found that the analysis of corruption as a negative social phenomenon is not possible without a study of its historical past, the accumulation of knowledge to understand the preconditions for its emergence and spread in a given area. The study of historical aspects of the development of corruption contributes to a more objective adaptation to change and helps to more accurately predict the fight against this phenomenon in the future. During the analysis of historical aspects of anti-corruption policy development, they tried to investigate the main origins of this non-agent phenomenon, its evolution, the nature of its origin, because the study of historical experience will contribute to positive changes in today's conditions. The study found that all mentions of corruption as a negative socio-economic, political, legal and moral phenomenon that arises as a result of inefficient use of civil servants. The writing of the article is based on the hypothesis that the historical aspects of the development of anti-corruption policy need to be deepened and objectively assess the connection between the past and the present, predicting the future. The evolution of corruption is an integral part of the evolution of countries, which has contributed to the transformation of bribery into a system of complex phenomena, not only local but also global. The study of genesis, its scientific understanding through the historical aspects of development in society will contribute to the formation of objective conclusions, avoiding the existing mistakes of the previous generation, through the use of experience. The study of historical aspects of anti-corruption policy is relevant due to the urgent need to identify and improve modern mechanisms to prevent the emergence and spread of this complex negative social phenomenon, given its complex and long history of development, which has some differences in different countries but has the same social-political and economic consequences.

While the creativity artistically realizes the existence, there is a need to percept the world through the time and space, which has been expressed by the different views since the ancient times. Having studied the thoughts of Zoroaster (Avesto), Plato, Aristotle, Abu Nasr Farabiy, Beruniy, Abu Ali Ibn Sino, Abu Khamid Gazali, Najmiddin Kubro and Immanuel Kant, the author expressed his opinion to their views on the integrity of the time and space in literature. KEY WORDS AND EXPRESSIONS: poem, fiction, artistic space, “Avesto”, “Khindustan”, Zoroaster,Beruniy, Plato, Aristotle, Kant.

Contact X-ray imaging is presently developing as an important imaging technique in cell biology. Our recent studies on human platelets have demonstrated that the cytoskeleton of these cells contains photondense structures which can preferentially be imaged by soft X-ray imaging. Our present research has dealt with platelet activation, i.e., the complex phenomena which precede platelet appregation and are associated with profound changes in platelet cytoskeleton. Human platelets suspended in plasma were used. Whole cell mounts were fixed and dehydrated, then exposed to a stationary source of soft X-rays as previously described. Developed replicas and respective grids were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
