This research aims at finding out the teacher difficulties in teaching vocabulary at MTS Batusitanduk. The scope of the research was limited to focus on describing or exploring the difficulties faced by the teacher in teaching English vocabulary. This research applied descriptive qualitative method. The subject of this research was 2 English teachers of MTS Batusitanduk. The research used interview to collect the data. Based on the result of data analysis the research concludes that teacher’s difficulties in teaching vocabulary are difficult in selecting vocabulary to be taught because there are many words in English and the students do not have same ability, difficult in implementing teaching technique or presenting new vocabularies because when presenting the new vocabulary. The students do not pay attention to the teacher’s explanation, noisy, and the students are passive in vocabulary learning. And the teachers are difficult to review or evaluating the students’ understanding about the words that have been taught because the students do not still understand about meaning of the vocabulary.

The research aims to describe the functions of humor used in an American comedy movie The Boss. The subject of the research was American comedy movie The Boss. Descriptive qualitative method was used to conduct the research. Data collection was done through library research and documentation. Data analysis was done through identification, coding, classification and description. The researcher found several findings. Supported by Meyers theory of joke, there are 6 functions of jokes found in the movie such as to insult someone, to express anger, to tease someone, to relieve tension, to get attention, and to amuse others. The dominant function was differentiation particularly to insult and to express anger 21 times, the second was clarification particularly to relieve tension humorous lines and amuse others 15 times, the third was enforcement particularly to tease 18 times, and the last was identification particularly to relieve tension and to get attention 27 times. These functions were also analyzed and discriminated by different setting and participant based on formality and participants distance. According to the analysis, most jokes occurred in informal situation with intimate relationship among the participants and functioned to tease someone and to relieve tension. This finding also proves that American humor is expressed with more slapstick and vulgarity as the characteristic of American humor used in daily communication. Songs are one of media in language to communicate or deliver a message which created by a songs’ writer through a singer to listeners. Songs is very effective as a media in analyzing systemic functional linguistic, because in song contained two text at once, those are when a singers sing, the song is the spoken text, and the song lyric is the written text. The objective of this study is to describe the aspects of Interpersonal Meaning in the lyric of Adele’s Album 21. The design of the research was descriptive qualitative method. The writers analyzed the a song entitled ”Don’t You Remember” based on the Subject, Finite, Predicator, Complement and Adjunct that describe in the table. The writers classified them based on Mood-Residue elements and made the conclusion based on the research findings. The results of the data analysis shows that the interpersonal meaning in the lyric Don’t You Remember of Adele’s album “21”, there are only 4 clauses which do not have aspects of interpersonal meaning from 28 clauses which be analyzed because the clauses only have one element, it is residue. Thus, the conclusion is  85.7 % of the data can be analyzed to find out mood and residue  as the aspects of interpersonal meaning.Keywords: Interpersonal meaning, Song lyric

The objective of this research is to find out the teachers’ questioning strategy in teaching English at SMKN 7 Luwu Utara. The method that was applied in this research is a descriptive qualitative method. There were 2 English teachers as the sample of this research. Data collection of this research through interview and questionnaire. The result of data analysis showed that the teachers used questioning strategies by applying some types of question in each sessions of teaching. During the interview the researcher found that the first teacher only used a probing question and divergent question, while the second teacher only used a higher order question. So, from the whole between the first teacher and the second teacher after the researcher analyzed from the interview and questionnaire, the researcher found that the questioning strategies used by the teacher were probing questions, divergent questions and higher order questions. As for the strategy question that often appears or is often used by teachers, namely the probing question strategy.

<p>The main purposes of this study are (1) to describe the implementation of contextual teaching and learning (CTL) in teaching English, and (2) to investigate the teacher’s difficulties in implementing CTL in teaching English at the seventh grade students of SMPN-1 Palangka Raya. It was used qualitative method. The subject of this study was an English teacher of SMPN-1 Palangka Raya. It was used observation, interview and documentation to collect the data, and for data analysis it was used data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The findings show that (1) the implementation of CTL implemented by the teacher was through some components of CTL which were applied more frequently than others. The questioning, learning community, and modeling were frequently applied. (2) The problems faced by the teacher were the condition of the students who still made some noise, the large amount of students in the class, little attention from the students, and the shyness from the students to speak up.</p>

Figurative language is one way of conveying words other than the normal way. This helps song writers compose and produce beautiful songs. Figurative language is part of semantics. Semantic is the study of meaning that is used to understand human expression through language. With semantic we can know the true or actual meaning in a song. This study aims to find student’s ability in identifying kinds of figurative language and their meanings in lyrics of Mariah carey selected song. Descriptive qualitative method is the method used in this study. The instrument for collecting  the data was test questions which consisted  of 12 questions. In this research, the subject  was  11th grade class of  SMA Swasta  GKPI  Padang  Bulan which consisted  of  28 students. The result  of  data  analysis shows that the students  mean score  is 76,7 the highest score is 92, while the lowest score is 50. There were 4 student, (14,3%), belonged to the very good level and 21 students (75 %), belonged to the good level and there were 3 students, (10,7%), belonged to sufficient level.Kind of figurative language was found in Mariah Carey songs lyric are simile, metaphor, hyperbole, and personification. The dominant types of figurative language found in Mariah Carey song lyrics is metaphor.From an analysis ,the researcher concluded that most of the students of the second grade class of SMA Swasta GKPI Padang Bulan Medan got dificulties to different between metaphors and personifications in identifying figurative language in mariah carey’s songs lyrics.

The purposes of the study were to (1) find out the level of students reading comprehension of different genres and (2) to describe students reading comprehension of different genres of text. The subject of   the research was the eight grade students in SMP Negeri 2 Pacurbatu. The research was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected by using reading comprehension test and interview. Then The data were analyzed by identifying the result of test first, describing the result and the last was explaining the result. Based on the result of the data analysis, it was found that the students were good at both literal and inferrential. Literal comprehension was 75.95% better than inferrential  comprehension 72,68 %. Furthermore, students reading comprehension of narrative texts was the dominant genre with 75.00% which belonged to good category and followed by recount text with 72.98%, procedure text with 73.79% and the last was descriptive text with 69.75% which the only genre belonged to fair category

<p>Hopscotch Game is one of the media in teaching speaking. It is purposed to help the students more interested in teaching-learning process. The objectives of this research are to describe: 1) the procedure of using hopscotch game in teaching speaking, 2) the advantages of using hopscotch game in teaching speaking, 3) the disadvantage of using hopscotch game in teaching speaking.</p><p> </p><p>This research was done at IKIP PGRI Madiun from September-December</p><p>2013. The subject of the study was the students of 1A of English Department of IKIP  PGRI  Madiun  consisting  of  30  students,  it  uses  descriptive  qualitative method for data analysis. The researcher did some steps such as pre activity, whilst activity, and post activity. In collecting the data, the researcher applied several techniques including observation, interview, and documentation.</p><p> </p><p>The result of the research shows that: 1) there are some procedures of using hopscotch, 2) hopscotch game makes students have fun in speaking class, and it can be a media to motivate students in the teaching-learning process. 3) the disadvantage of  hopscotch game is spending much time.</p><p> </p>Based on the result of this research, some suggestions are presented to the lecturer, and the students. The lecturer is expected to apply various kinds of approach or method such as hopscotch game in teaching speaking in order to make the teaching learning process more interesting and fun. The students are expected to practice speaking English actively without being afraid of making mistakes, because the lecturer will rectify and help them to be better in speaking English.

HUMOR AND TASTE OF KHONG GUAN IN JOKO PINURBO’S POEMJoko Pinurbo is one of productive writer. The most interesting part of all works from Jokpin is the humour or jokes he inserted. What makes it interesting there are several poems that he wrote which published in Kompas newspaper on 31st Agustus 2019. There are twelve poems which consists the word Khong Guan in every title: Perjamuan Khong Guan, Hujan Khong Guan, Tidur Khong Guan, Lebaran Khong Guan, Minuman Khong Guan, Sabda Khong Guan, Agama Khong Guan, Keluarga Khong Guan, Mudik Khong Guan, Doa Khong Guan, Bingkisan Khong Guan, dan Hati Khong Guan. Those twelve poems are the subject to this research. The aim of this research is to define how humor was created.  Recent humors are mostly uneducated humor such as insult joke, bullying, and disrespectful. Joko Pinurbo gives alternative in doing humor, through poem. Humor found in the poem is dominated by tragedy humor. Descriptive qualitative method is used in this research. This research found that there are five poems which can be classified as tragedy

Each religious sect has its own characteristics, whether fundamental, radical, or religious. One of them is Insan Al-Kamil Congregation, which is in Cijati, South Cikareo Village, Wado District, Sumedang Regency. This congregation is Sufism with the concept of self-purification as the subject of its teachings. So, the purpose of this study is to reveal how the origin of Insan Al-Kamil Congregation, the concept of its purification, and the procedures of achieving its purification. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a normative theological approach as the blade of analysis. In addition, the data generated is the result of observation, interviews, and document studies. From the collected data, Jamaah Insan Al-Kamil adheres to the core teachings of Islam and is the tenth regeneration of Islam Teachings, which refers to the Prophet Muhammad SAW. According to this congregation, self-perfection becomes an obligation that must be achieved by human beings in order to remember Allah when life is done. The process of self-purification is done when human beings still live in the world by knowing His God. Therefore, the peak of self-purification is called Insan Kamil.

This study aims to determine the Tourist Perception of Bokori Island Tourism Object in Bokori Village, Soropia District of Konawe Regency. This study used descriptive qualitative method. Subjects in this study were tourists visiting attractions Bokori Island. Traveler sampling in this study set out in the quota sampling 50 respondents, in this study the sample collection technique by accidental sampling.Methods of  data collection using questionnaires, observation and documentation. Questionnaire data analysis in this research is the analysis presented in the table percentage and distribution. Based on the results obtained show that, according to the perception of tourists attractions of the Bokori Island (1) appeal to the average score - average rating of 3.31 with the perception of being in either category, (2) accessibility with a mean score - average of 3.40 with the perception of tourists are in good category, (3) visitor facilities with a mean score - average rating of 3.12 with the perception of being in either category, (4) infrastructure with a mean score - average 3.53 with the perception of tourists were in the excellent category, (5) security with a mean score - average of 3.24 with the perceptions of visitors are in good category, (6) the promotion with a mean score - average of 3.32 with the perceptions of visitors are in either category. Thus the perception of the overall rating showed a mean score - average rating of 3.32 with the perception of being in either category.
