Although distance learning has no less effectiveness than on campus education (Young J, 2000), is still unclear why Greek students adopt the HOU for their postgraduate studies. This research addresses the following questions: “What makes the Greek students to decide to pursue their postgraduate degree via the HOU instead of the on campus one? Which are the factors affecting their decision? Which are the most important of them?” This research followed the survey methodology with the use of email questionnaires which followed the snow ball technique, while the results were analysed by the Dedoose software. The findings indicated that reasons like financial needs, time, flexibility and job prospects are influencing students towards their decision, while factors like family and friends are the catalysts in that direction. Our analysis suggests that the results can help HOU understand that need to help students overcome their contemporary societal barriers towards a better future.

The article elaborates upon a successful model of postgraduate studies on lean manufacturing. The subject of the research was nine editions of the Kaizen Academy postgraduate studies organized by the Warsaw University of Technology and the Kaizen Institute in the years 2009–2018, that still enjoys interest in the market. A detailed qualitative analysis of this case, followed by a comparative analysis with other post-graduate programs of this type on the national, European, and global level should make it possible to find what is necessary to launch and actively operate for a long time in the (considerably competitive) market of qualification raising programs related to Lean Management (critical success factors). The study has also identified the differences between a successful program, analyzed in detail, and other available programs described in the literature and on the Internet. This has been achieved through a structured analysis of thirty-nine postgraduate programs identified by querying scientific databases and the Google Internet search engine. Best practices and models of postgraduate education on Lean Management have been discussed, and the thirty-nine programs comprising the identified sample have been compared. Considering the very general level of the data available in terms of the organization of postgraduate programs, it has also been assessed if they follow constructivism and experiential learning paradigms. This has been achieved by including the industrial days/visit indicator in the comparison. Given its high value, it has been identified as a success factor of the postgraduate curriculum on Lean Management.

The study aims to highlight the current learning approaches used by postgraduate students to complete their postgraduate studies on time, as studies have shown many students have failed to finish their studies as planned. In particular, this study focuses on factors and methods that are perceived to be most effective by students to help them complete their studies on time.  Methodology: Thisstudy was based on a qualitative approach involving semi-structured interviews. The study sample consisted of 14 postgraduate students and one lecturers as respondents. The research instrument was based on interview questions to elicit relevant information on their demography and learning practices. Data were collected and organized into four themes and were subsequently analyzed descriptively.     Findings: The findings showed that face-to-face discussions were the most popular practice adopted by the respondents. The findings also showed several factors had significant impacts on student learning, such as interpersonal relationships between students and supervisors, commitment, financial commitment, and moral support, which needs to be taken into account in helping students to complete on time.     Significance: The research findings can inform all the stakeholders, notably students, supervisors, and administrative officers, factors that have profound impacts on postgraduate students’ efforts to graduate on time.

Distance education is essentially the basis for the development of educational institutions that provide innovative services, which cannot be obtained elsewhere. It is believed that distance education is a substitute for the traditional as part of simplifying and cheapening the learning process. At the same time, the leading global trends suggest the need for the development of elements of self-education and the expansion of the geographical nature of educational offers. The relevance of the study is that it is necessary to distinguish between the use of distance education methods in the traditional sphere and the sphere of training professionals. The paper presents the concept of the need to integrate elements of distance education in the process of preparing university teachers. The authors believe that teachers in drawing up courses and applying learning technologies use the same techniques as in distance learning. Therefore, the use of distance learning technologies can be shown as the basis for the development of advanced training programs and additional professional education. The authors proposed a study on the need and sufficiency of the use of distance education technologies and the possibilities for their integration into the process of postgraduate education. The practical significance of the work is determined by the fact that the possibilities of self-development of teachers are fully disclosed, not only as subjects of the educational process but also as subjects of training.

The main direction of improving the process of professional development of doctors at the stage of postgraduate training is the gradual introduction of modern forms of education. Internship is the first step to independent work of a doctor, so it is important from this stage to direct the efforts of a young specialist to self-improvement. Traditional methods of training interns are primarily aimed at obtaining and deepening knowledge through the transfer of information with subsequent implementation in specific professional activities with recognized algorithms. However, this method of teaching does not contribute to the development of independent cognitive activity of young colleagues, although it is on this postulate the concept of distance learning is based as a new form of postgraduate education. The article characterizes the modern system of training of interns-ophthalmologists. The use of distance learning, clinical analysis of patients’ data, stage test control, situational tasks in the educational process is substantiated. Wishes are expressed to improve the organization of the internship in ophthalmology.

ABSTRACT Guidelines originating from practice suggest the Trust Services Criteria of security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy should be key factors affecting the trust of cloud-based systems. In our study, we test a model of end-user adoption of cloud-based software as a service (SaaS) by integrating the five principles from the Trust Services Criteria with systems risk. Using a survey methodology to collect data and analyzing it with structural equation modeling, we test hypotheses associated with the model. Our results show statistical support for the factors of security, confidentiality, and privacy as influencing consumers' trust in cloud-based services. Additionally, our results demonstrate trust in cloud-based services negatively influences the perceived systems risk, and these two items (trust and systems risk) significantly influence the decision by end-users to adopt a cloud-based system. Overall, our findings support the use of the Trust Services Criteria for assessing consumers' trust in cloud-based services.

OBJECTIVE: to analyze in detail the current situation of doctorate training in Nursing in Chile.METHODOLOGY: through a historical and contextual analysis of the background to the development of postgraduate education in Nursing, especially at doctorate level.RESULTS: aspects that limit development were identified in national institutionalism of the sciences as well as in higher education and health institutions, especially the limited value placed on nursing as an area of knowledge in this country, the lack of clear institutional policies for postgraduate studies, as well as the postgraduate's re-inclusion into the academic and care area, with access to national research funds difficult.FINAL CONSIDERATIONS: access to grants and funds, together with recognition as an area of knowledge belonging on academic schedules, especially in health institutions, are the main challenges to consolidation. One aspect that would enable a more rapid advance is through national and international inter-institutional agreements, adding together potential, with access to funds for studies and academic and student internships, enabling joint research to go ahead.

ABSTRACT Objective To carry out an analysis of postgraduate education in Nutrition in Brazil in the period 2009-2018, including distance learning. Methods The article presents a historical-documentary analysis of the trajectory of Nutrition courses from 2009 to 2018. The bibliographic survey was carried out in the electronic databases of the Scientific Electronic Library Online, the National Library of Medicine, Google Academic databases, and through data collection in government websites and other institutions. Results In December 2018, there were 709 face-to-face and 1,094 distance learning Undergraduate Courses in Nutrition in the country. In the period, there was a 181.5% increase in the number of face-to-face courses, being 195.1% in the private sector, responsible for 89.1% of the total courses in the country. The highest concentration identified was in the Southeast Region did not change substantively in the period. Conclusion With 1,803 undergraduate courses in Nutrition in Brazil, of which the majority is composed of distance learning courses, the current scenario may be the most dramatic in the history of nutrition education in Brazil. Care must be taken to ensure that it is consistent, marked by opportunities for learning in society, in which the student can develop an investigative, critical, innovative spirit, having their professional identities clear in a multidisciplinary work team. The expansion of the offer of undergraduate courses in Nutrition did not correct regional asymmetries.
