The added value in education refers to the contribution that the educational institution effectively makes to student learning, expressed as the growth in knowledge, skills and abilities, in a period of time, as a result of their educational experience. The objective of the research is to determine the added value of the academic work of the Universidad Francisco de Paula Santander in the development of physical- mathematical thinking in engineering students and the estimation of a mathematical model that allows its valuation. In model allows analyzing the trajectory of the group of engineering students who entered in the first semester of 2018 and involves endogenous and exogenous variables associated with the process. The research is framed in the quantitative paradigm, descriptive, multivariate and correlational. We work with two types of data, the secondary data are constituted by the students’ grades in 2018 and 2019, this information may present biases because they are different courses with different teachers, however, it allows to see the evolution of students in calculus, statistics and physics courses. Primary data were obtained from a test applied in 2018 and a similar test applied in 2019, graded using item response theory. Results were compared and differences were evaluated to estimate the contribution effectively made by the university.

The number of foreign students in domestic higher education institutions has steadily increased over the past two decades. However, due to information and cultural barriers, this trend is slowing down. Foreign medical students travel abroad in search of a good education and adequate learning conditions. For the choice of the country of study and educational institution, the decisive factors are accessibility, social ties, as well as the education system in accordance with the principle of achieving the goal. Communication with other foreign students is not seen as a problem, and foreign medical students are most concerned about social isolation due to linguistic, intercultural and religious differences. Providing access to the University education system, material, technical and informational environment, social support, creating conditions for cultural integration, and fostering religious tolerance help foreign medical students in many ways. Thus, the creation of a special adaptive environment, as well as the development of adequate intercultural relations, along with a person-oriented educational process, contribute to the successful achievement of the goal of foreign students ' stay in the educational environment of the University.

AbstractChoice of schooling by families is both a new trend and an old one in Ontario. In this article, the notion of school choice is examined as it applies to French-language education, which has taken various forms over time and in different local contexts across the province. The author brings together sociohistorical data compiled and presented online by the Centre de recherche en civilisation canadienne française at the University of Ottawa, historical case studies and monographs, as well as new original research. From those sources it becomes clear that parents and communities have, through their actions and choices, influenced the forms taken by minority-language education; and that, in return, those different forms and the education policies that underpin them have helped to structure the schooling choices made by families.

In this article, Poonam M. Ganglani investigates how the preserved manuscripts in the Lord Chamberlain's archives of John Hart's stage version of Lady Chatterley's Lover in 1961 reflect the social and theatrical landscape of the times. The notion of the Lord Chamberlain as a custodian of morals, the dangerous power attributed to stage semiotics, and the response to sexual impropriety on stage are among the areas discussed. The Lord Chamberlain's correspondence files offer the only significant glimpse into this theatrical adaptation of Lawrence's novel, as into other unpublished plays of the time; this article also investigates the ways in which the Lord Chamberlain's archives in the British Library, London, serve as a unique and valuable tool for the post-war British theatre historiographer in research related to such unpublished plays. Poonam M. Ganglani is a postgraduate under the Mundus Masters ‘Crossways in European Humanities’ international study programme, having studied in three European universities over two years: the Université de Perpignan Via Domitia in France, the University of Sheffield in England, and the Università degli studi di Bergamo in Italy.

Abstract Objective: The transformation of many jobs within companies should give rise to a necessary evolution of skills used by individuals. Whether it is to improve the relevance of decisions or to preserve people’s health, the development of emotional skills for the last ten years has often been presented as a necessity. Buyers, who are more and more seen as managers of external resources, are particularly concerned by this need. By strongly evolving, the purchasing function has become strategic and essential for achieving organizations’ performances. The development of soft skills like the emotional skills of the buyers implies a significant evolution of the training intended for them. It is true if we consider initial training at the University or Business School, as well as in the field of in-company training. Based on a presentation of new needs, we propose possible changes and additions that could be brought to current training. Methodology: The research was based on the analysis of literature review and real situations observed in companies (especially during training sessions). Findings: Because of the evolutions of their job, buyers who become more and more managers of external resources should develop their emotional skills. These skills can be developed using adapted training sessions. Value Added: The importance of emotional skills is pointed out and several ideas aimed at enabling the development of emotional skills are given. Recommendations: It is recommended to use the TSP chain (Task, Skill, Pedagogy) in order to define adapted pedagogy for the development of emotional skills.

The subject of this research is the methods of m-learning in teaching English language for specific purposes to students of the higher educational institution. The authors examine a range of questions related to digitalization of educational environment, as well as the relevance of implementation of mobile technologies into the process of teaching English language. The article analyzes various methods of m-learning and present a broad array of tasks developed by the authors. The efficiency of m-learning method is determined based on the results of questionnaire of students of the School of Design of the Higher School of Economics, after taking the course with application of mobile technologies over three-year period. The scientific novelty consists in examination of m-learning as a pedagogical innovation within the framework of university education. The authors attempt to invest into development of new teaching methodology through in-depth study of the possibilities and effectiveness of m-learning in foreign language teaching. The results of this research demonstrate that in the period from 2017 to 2019 there was a growth in student interest towards m-learning. Majority of students of the Higher School of Economics preferred taking the classes using mobile technologies, as they believe mobile learning is more efficient. Classes become more interactive and contribute to rapid development of language skills. However, some of the students take a cautious approach to this novelty, as they feel that traditional methodologies of teaching English language are more effective.

The study explores creating intentional cultural dialogue through craft and cultural heritage and examines significant learning experiences of a cultural craft course reported by thirty-two (N = 32) exchange students. The students were from ten countries and studied Cultural Heritage and Craft Education in the International Study Programme at the University of Eastern Finland during the academic year 2018–19. The methods applied in the course were significant learning and collaborative designing for supporting cultural dialogue. Data were collected through reflective essays and reported in Dee Fink’s taxonomy of significant learning framework. The analysis identified six types of significant learning experiences and confirmed that cultural heritage embodied in crafts serves as a significant platform for cultural dialogue. That is, a holistic craft process including designing, making and reflective evaluation can support cultural learning. The research contributes to the development of international study courses and provides means to enhance cultural dialogue in the context of craft education.

This paper presents the results of a survey on the typology of literacy courses for adult non-native speakers in Turin, Marseilles and Seville and the teaching methods used in them. The internationalisation of university curricula has highlighted the need to compare the training systems available for access to all forms of teaching, from primary to university education, as well as professional training. The survey was administered to the teachers involved in these courses, and the analysis shows that, although many teachers attended language education and refresher courses, few of them were taught the principles of the acquisition of reading and writing. In the light of the data obtained, these literacy courses for adult non-native speakers have the same characteristics as any other course, but the role of volunteers is very relevant. In order to compare teaching programs in EU countries, an investigation of the university programs for language teaching and literacy is necessary.
