Abstract In this paper we present a new design method for the fight control of an autonomous quadrotor helicopter based on fuzzy sliding mode control using backstepping approach. Due to the underactuated property of the quadrotor helicopter, the controller can move three positions (x;y; z) of the helicopter and the yaw angle to their desired values and stabilize the pitch and roll angles. A first-order nonlinear sliding surface is obtained using the backstepping technique, on which the developed sliding mode controller is based. Mathematical development for the stability and convergence of the system is presented. The main purpose is to eliminate the chattering phenomenon. Thus we have used a fuzzy logic control to generate the hitting control signal. The performances of the nonlinear control method are evaluated by simulation and the results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy for the quadrotor helicopter in vertical flights.

This article presents the sliding control method combined with the selfadjusting neural network to compensate for noise to improve the control system's quality for the two-wheel self-balancing robot. Firstly, the dynamic equations of the two-wheel self-balancing robot built by Euler–Lagrange is the basis for offering control laws with a neural network of noise compensation. After disturbance-compensating, the sliding mode controller is applied to control quickly the two-wheel self-balancing robot reached the desired position. The stability of the proposed system is proved based on the Lyapunov theory. Finally, the simulation results will confirm the effectiveness and correctness of the control method suggested by the authors.

This paper studies the synchronization control of fractional order chaotic systems based on memristor and its hardware implementation. This paper takes the complex dynamic phenomena of memristor turbidity system as the research background. Starting with the integer order memristor system, the fractional order form is derived based on the integer order turbid system, and its dynamics is deeply studied. At the same time, the turbidity phenomenon is applied to the watermark encryption algorithm, which effectively improves the confidentiality of the algorithm. Finally, in order to suppress the occurrence of turbidity, a fractional order sliding mode controller is proposed. In this paper, the sliding mode controller under the function switching control method is established, and the conditions for the parameters of the sliding mode controller are derived. Finally, the experimental results analyze the stability of the controlled system under different parameters, and give the corresponding time-domain waveform to verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis.

In this paper, we develop a new control method that brings together the advantages of fuzzy logic and sliding mode control. First, we introduce a non-chattering robust sliding mode control. Then, in order to improve the performance of the controller a fuzzy logic algorithm is integrated with the sliding mode controller. This algorithm decides the slope of the sliding surface of the sliding mode controller dynamically. Thus, the system is caught on the sliding surface rapidly and remains over it, more successfully improving the performance of the controller. Afterwards, to test the success of the controller introduced, it is applied to a planar robot, which is to follow a certain trajectory only using the control inputs produced. The results are compared with those of a conventional PID controlled system and a sliding mode controller with constant surface slope. In order to check the robust behavior of the controller designed, an unexpected change in the mass of the second link is introduced and to make the conditions tougher it is assumed that this change is not sensed by the controllers. Noise resistance of the proposed controller is also checked by introducing normally distributed noise components into the equations of motion of the robot model.

This article propounds addressing the design of a sliding mode controller with adaptive gains for trajectory tracking of unicycle mobile robots. The dynamics of this class of robots are strong, nonlinear, and subject to external disturbance. To compensate the effect of the unknown upper bounded external disturbances, a robust sliding mode controller based on an integral adaptive law is proposed. The salient feature of the developed controller resides in taking into account that the system is MIMO and the upper bound of disturbances is not priori known. Therefore, we relied on an estimation of each perturbation separately for each subsystem. Hence, the proposed controller provides a minimum acceptable errors and bounded adaptive laws with minimum of chattering problem. To complete the goal of the trajectory tracking, we apply a kinematic controller that takes into account the nonholonomic constraint of the robot. The stability and convergence properties of the proposed tracking dynamic and kinematic controllers are analytically proved using Lyapunov stability theory. Simulation results based on a comparative study show that the proposed controllers ensure better performances in terms of good robustness against disturbances, accuracy, minimum tracking errors, boundness of the adaptive gains, and minimum chattering effects.

In actual work, the system parameters of the robot joints will change in real time or cannot be measured, and the coupling relationship between the various subsystems and the existence of modeling errors make the system model difficult to determine. Based on such problems, a neural network observation is proposed Decentralized control method for robot joints of the robot. In the actual control of the manipulator, firstly, the model of each joint subsystem is established by the decentralized control theory, and the nonlinear function approximation ability of the neural network is used to approach the uncertain part of the manipulator subsystem online through input and output data. The design observer can estimate the state of the system, and use the estimated state to design a sliding mode controller to dynamically estimate and compensate the unknown model dynamics of each independent joint, and realize the self-control of the system when the speed information and model information are unknown. Adaptive control greatly enhances the robustness and adaptability of the robotic arm system. Finally, the stability criterion of the neural network observer and the sliding mode controller is given by the Lyapunov function method, and the simulation results prove the effectiveness of the design method.

This paper proposes a U-model-based fault-tolerant controller design method in order to ensure the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) flight performance when subject to the actuator failures. Depending on the decoupled quadrotor model, this paper presents a sliding mode control method based on U-model in detail and realizes fault-tolerant control for the quadrotor UAV with the stability theory and simulation experiment verifications. The results show that the new controller designed by using the U-model method can simplify the controller design process which has good fault-tolerant characteristics when actuator faults occur compared with the traditional method.

Tire longitudinal forces of electrics vehicle with four in-wheel-motors can be adjusted independently. This provides advantages for its stability control. In this paper, an electric vehicle with four in-wheel-motors is taken as the research object. Considering key factors such as vehicle velocity and road adhesion coefficient, the criterion of vehicle stability is studied, based on phase plane of sideslip angle and sideslip-angle rate. To solve the problem that the sideslip angle of vehicles is difficult to measure, an algorithm for estimating the sideslip angle based on extended Kalman filter is designed. The control method for vehicle yaw moment based on sliding-mode control and the distribution method for wheel driving/braking torque are proposed. The distribution method takes the minimum sum of the square for wheel load rate as the optimization objective. Based on Matlab/Simulink and Carsim, a cosimulation model for the stability control of electric vehicles with four in-wheel-motors is built. The accuracy of the proposed stability criterion, the algorithm for estimating the sideslip angle and the wheel torque control method are verified. The relevant research can provide some reference for the development of the stability control for electric vehicles with four in-wheel-motors.

In this article, an innovative technique to design a robust finite-time state feedback controller for a class of uncertain robotic manipulators is proposed. This controller aims to converge the state variables of the system to a small bound around the origin in a finite time. The main innovation of this article is transforming the model of an uncertain robotic manipulator into a new time-varying form to achieve the finite-time boundedness criteria using asymptotic stability methods. First, based on prior knowledge about the upper bound of uncertainties and disturbances, an innovative finite-time sliding mode controller is designed. Then, the innovative finite-time sliding mode controller is developed for finite-time tracking of time-varying reference signals by the outputs of the system. Finally, the efficiency of the proposed control laws is illustrated for serial robotic manipulators with any number of links through numerical simulations, and it is compared with the nonsingular terminal sliding mode control method as one of the most powerful finite-time techniques.

A sliding mode controller for semi-active suspension system of a quarter car is designed with sliding model varying structure control method. This controller chooses Skyhook as a reference model, and to force the tracking error dynamics between the reference model and the plant in an asymptotically stable sliding mode. An equal near rate is used to improve the dynamic quality of sliding mode motion. Simulation result shows that the stability of performance of the sliding-mode controller can effectively improve the driving smoothness and safety.
