Background: Mechanical low back pain is pain that resulting from poor posture which cause decreased disability and limitation of lumbar range of motion. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to prove mulligan bent leg raise more effective to increase lumbosacral range of motion and decreased disability than slump stretching among tile craftsman with Mechanical low back pain in Darmasaba village. Methods: This research was an experimental study with pre and post test control group design. Sample of this study is tile craftsman with mechanical low back pain with 20 samples aged 30-55. Samples were divided into two groups, which the first group (n = 10) was given Mulligan bent leg raise, while the second group was given slump stretching. Do exercise 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Lumbar range of motion was measured with modified-modified schober test while level of disability was measured with modified oswestry disability index. Result: Paired Sample T-test in Group 1 and Group 2 obtained p=0,000 that showed in each Group 1 and Group 2 there is significant difference. Independent Samples Test of Group 1 and Group 2 showed the result p=0,000 which mean that there is significant difference in increased lumbar range of motion and decreased disability. Conclusion: Mulligan bent leg raise more effective to increase lumbosacral range of motion and decreased disability than slump stretching to tile craftsman with mechanical low back pain in Darmasaba village.

Pregnancy-induced pelvic girdle pain (PGP) and low back pain (LBP) is common in post-natal women's. We conducted the study to evaluate the effectiveness of a modified sacroiliac belt on pelvic girdle pain in post-natal women. A total of 26 post-natal women between the age group of 18-35 years were selected and randomized into Group 1(N=13) received conventional sacroiliac belt, conventional physiotherapy and Group 2 (n=13) received modified sacroiliac belt along with conventional physiotherapy. Pre-assessment of pelvic girdle was assessed by (Pelvic Girdle Pain Questionnaire) PGPQ, and low back pain was assessed by Roland Morris low back pain and disability questionnaire (RMQ) and Post-interventional assessment was taken for the same after three months. Intragroup statistical analysis for PGPQ revealed not significant in post-intervention for Group 1 where P-value 0.3023 and was extremely significant for Group 2 (P value<0.0001). At the same time, the Intergroup intervention analysis showed an extremely significant difference between Group 1and Group 2 (p< 0.0001). The study concluded that  Integrating Modified sacroiliac belt with conventional physiotherapy is more effective in reducing pelvic girdle pain in post-natal women with also benefiting to reduce the pregnancy-induced low back pain as compared to the conventional sacroiliac belt and conventional physiotherapy.

Background: Low back pain by osteoarthristis is one of the most common diseases in the world as well as in Vietnam, estimated 70-85% people in the world have low back pain sometime in their lives. Obiectives: To evaluate the effects of embedding therapy and electronic acupuncture combined with “Doc hoat tang ky sinh” remedy in the treatment of low back pain by spondylosis. Materials and methods: 72 patients diagnosed of low back pain by spondylosis, were examined and treated at Phu Yen Traditional Medicine Hospital, divided equally into 2 groups (group 1 and group 2). Results: In group 1: Effective treatment at good and fair good level accounted for 41.7% and 41.7%. In group 2: Good level occupied 33.3% and fair good level occupied 55.6%. Conclusion: The ratios of good and fair good in 2 groups were equal (p >0.05) Key words: Low back pain, spondylosis, embedding therapy, electronic acupuncture

Abstract Background Mechanical low back pain (MLBP) is a major cause of illness and disability, especially in people of working age. People with chronic low back pain often experience anger, fear, anxiety, decrease in physical ability, and inadequacy of role fulfillment. Objective This study aimed to compare the efficacy of extension exercise program versus muscle energy technique in treating patients with chronic mechanical low back pain. Subjects and methods Forty patients complaining of chronic mechanical low back pain participated in the study. Patients were randomly allocated into two equal groups: group A which received spinal extension exercise program and group B which received muscle energy technique. Treatment sessions were given three times per week for four successive weeks. Patients were assessed before and after treatment using visual analogue scale (VAS), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and digital goniometer to assess pain intensity, functional disability, and range of motion (ROM) of lumbar spine respectively. Results There was significant decrease in the scores of pain and functional disability in both groups post-treatment especially in group B. There was significant increase in lumbar range of motion in both groups post-treatment, especially in group A. Conclusion Extension exercise program had better effect on improving lumbar range of motion, whereas muscle energy technique was better in decreasing pain and functional disability in patients with chronic mechanical low back pain.

ABSTRACT Low back pain ( LBP ) is a musculoskeletal disorder that occurs in the lower back which can be caused by various diseases and  activity of the body being less good. One effort to overcome the LBP is back exercise. The research purpose is to find out the effect of back exercise therapy which concern to lowering painful complaint of batik artisants in Kauman village Sokaraja subsdistrict. This research is using Quasi Experiment technique phenomenological non equivalen control group design (pre -post test). Sample taking is using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis use Friedman experiment for treatment group and Repeated Annova experiment for control group. Experiment analysis is different between treatment group and control group with using Mann Whitney experiment. The result of Friedman experiment in treatment group shows that p-value=0,000(p<0,05), it means the therapy those given is effective to lowering painful complaint. The result of Repeated Annova experiment in control group shows that p-value=0,234(p>0,05), it means the painful complaint seems not different in control group. The result of Mann Whitney experiment shows that p-value=0,000(p<0,05) it means there are differences between painful complaint in treatment group and control group after doing back exercise. There is the effect by giving back exercise therapy which concern to lowering the complaint of low back pain for batik artisants in Kauman village Sokaraja subdistrict.   Key words: Handmade Batik, Low back pain, back exercise

AbstractIntroduction : A long with the development of physical agents modalities, there are many recent modalities that has many beneficial for physical therapy practice, generally physical agents modalities are suit for musculoskeletal cases, one of beneficial effect for musculoskeletal case is maintaining of muscle’s physiology, electrical stimulations are familiar modalities we find in physiotherapy practice, this modality is use to inhibit pain signal and produce muscle contraction. Recently a new physical agent modality such as magnetic stimulation also has smiliar effect such as electrical stimulations, however there are less evidence to compare magnetic and electrical stimulation for musculoskeletal problems. Objective : Purpose of this study to compare magnetic and electrical stimulation effect for reducing pain and improve functional activity in low back pain patients. Methods : 60 low back pain patients recruited as subjects, devided into two groups, Group 1 given magnetic stimulation and Group 2 given electrical stimulation, after four mounth intervention two days in every weeks, pain index and functional activity measured with Oswestry instrument. Result : After 4 mounth intervention we find reducing pain index and improvement of functional activity in two groups, Group 1 the Oswestry score is 0.2 ± 0.08, while Group 2 the Oswestry score is 0.3 ± 0.05, based on the result we analyzed with Wilcoxon test, we find significant different between two groups, the significant value is 0.001 (p<0.05). Conclussion : magnetic stimulation is more effective to reduce pain index and improve functional activity by using Oswestry instrument than electrical stimulation. Abstract Objective To identify a diagnostic indicator of lumbar spondylolysis visible in plain X-ray films. Methods One hundred and seventy-two patients with low back pain who received X-ray and computerized tomography (CT) examinations were identified and studied. They were divided into three groups: the spondylosis without spondylolisthesis (SWS) group, comprising 67 patients with bilateral pars interarticularis defects at L5 and without spondylolisthesis, the isthmic spondylolisthesis (IS) group, comprising 74 patients with L5/S1 spondylolisthesis and bilateral L5 pars interarticularis defects, and the control group, comprising 31 patients with low back pain but without spondylolysis. The sagittal diameters of the vertebral arch (SDVAs) of L4 and L5 were measured in lateral X-ray image, and the differences in SDVA between L4 and L5 (DSL4-5) in each case were calculated and analyzed. Results There were no significant differences in demographic characteristics among the three groups. In the SWS and IS groups, the SDVA of L5 was significantly longer than the SDVA of L4 (p < 0.001), whereas no significant difference found in the control group (p > 0.05). DSL4-5, in which the SDVA of L4 was subtracted from the SDVA of L5, significantly differed among the three groups (p < 0.001), and the normal threshold was provisionally determined to be 1.55 mm. Conclusions In bilateral L5 spondylolysis, the SDVA of L5 is wider than the SDVA of L4, and this difference is greater in isthmic spondylolisthesis. This sign in lateral X-rays may provide a simple and convenient aid for the diagnosis of spondylolysis.

Aim: To assessment of effectiveness of spinal exercises and body mechanics on low back pain among post menopausal women.Participants and setting: A quasi experimental non equivalent control group pretest post test design was adapted. The study was conducted in the urban area of suryapet. 40 post menopausal women who fulfilled the inclusion criteria were selected by nonprobability purposive sampling technique.Intervention: The intervention such as spinal exercises and body mechanics were performed to overcome the level of low back pain among post menopausal women. The pre and post assessment was done by using a combined numerical and categorical pain scale.Measurement and findings: The women completed the demographic and obstetrical information and pain was measured by 0- 10 Modified combined numerical categorical pain intensity scale. This study revealed that there was high significant difference found in low back pain at p<0.001level between study group.Conclusion: The overall findings in the present study revealed that the spinal exercises and body mechanics was effectives and had brought about significant change in the reduction of low back pain among post menopausal women compared to pre test level of low back pain.

Non-specific low back pain is the symptom of lower back pain that occurs without an obvious cause, the diagnosis is based on exclusion of specific pathology. Non-specific low back pain can result in pain, muscle spasm and muscle imbalance, it can decrease the stability of the abdominals and lower back, limitation in lumbar mobility , changes posture, and it’s couse make disability in patients with non-specific low back pain. Exercise therapy for non-specific low back pain is high recommend to increased stability and correct posture of the spine, for this case thsth can be used for exercise therapy is like McKenzie exercises and core stability exercise. The purpose of this study is to determine the core stability excercise better than McKenzie excercise for release in reduce patient disability in non-specific low back pain. This research applied experimental research method with Pre and Post Test Control Group Design. The research was conducted in Dr Soeradji Tirtonegoro Klaten. There were 32 subjects taken for this research. Disability was measured by oswestry disability index (ODI) before and after treatment. They were divided into two treatment groups consisting of core stability 16 subject for the Mckenzie exercise is 16 and the frequens are 2 times a weak in a month. Statistical test results obtained, have a decline ODI score at the first group have done with a value of p = 0.000 and the second gorup with p = 0.000. it means that both of the group are significantly improve functional activity. From the comparative test data by t-test using the data difference in both groups p value <0.05, which means indicated that there is a significant difference. Therefore, the conclusion of this research indicated thar the core stability excercise better than McKenzie excercise for release in reduce patient disability in non-specific low back pain. The study is expected to benefit in patients with non-specific low back pain in reducing disability.

BACKGROUND Low back pain is a common condition in India. 90 % of Indian population experience low back pain at least once in their lifetime. Studies show that 98 % low back pain is because of mechanical disorder of spine. Piriformis tightness is one of the most misdiagnosed causes for low back pain or sacroiliac joint dysfunction. Various manual therapy approaches have been studied for reducing muscle tightness. We wanted to assess the effectiveness of muscle energy technique that is post-isometric relaxation technique on piriformis muscle tightness, its effectiveness in relieving low back pain with radiation, and increasing range of motion. METHODS 60 patients were included in the study as per inclusion and exclusion criteria from Ravi Nair Physiotherapy College, Sawangi Meghe, and were randomly assigned in to two groups. The duration of study was 12 days (6 sessions / week) and follow up was taken on 27th day. Subjects in muscle energy technique experimental group were treated with post isometric relaxation technique (PIR), subjects in control group were given simple passive stretching of piriformis. All subjects were educated about proper ergonomics. RESULTS Both interventions post isometric relaxation and simple stretching techniques were effective in terms of pain reduction, ROM (Range of Motion) improvement, piriformis tightness, disability with p < 0.05 with post isometric relaxation technique superseding simple stretching. Moreover, post isometric relaxation technique in muscle energy technique had sustained effects on follow-up in terms of relieving pain, disability and tightness for longer period of time. CONCLUSIONS Muscle energy technique gives immediate relief of pain improving ROM and decreasing tightness of piriformis and disability and has longer lasting effects.
