Material as one of the components that has a contribution of 40-60% of the project cost in the research of Intan et al., 2005. Concrete is currently being studied because it is one of the five materials that affects 80% of material costs.. The purpose of this research is to examine how much the loss of iron concrete material waste and the ranking of the factors that influence it in multi-storey building projects. The research method is by conducting a questionnaire to contractors. The data collection process is carried out by distributing questionnaires in multi-storey building projects in Jakarta. Measuring the value of the questionnaire as many as 64 respondents used the Likert measurement technique. The sequence of data processing, first done by testing the validity and reliability testing. After that, these factors are ranked using the Relative Importance Index method. The result is a loss of Concrete Iron material waste of 7.5% and ratings that affect the loss of concrete are: not planning reinforcement bestat, complicated image detailing, cutting errors due to lack of understanding of work drawings / carelessness, lack of / unclear image information, use of wrong so that it needs to be replaced, the remaining cuts due to the process of use and a design change. Keywords: multi-storey building; reinforcing steel;  waste material AbstrakMaterial sebagai salah satu komponen yang mempunyai kontribusi sebesar 40-60% dari biaya proyek di dalam penelitian Intan et al, 2005.  Besi beton saat ini mau diteliti karena merupakan salah satu dari lima material  mempengaruhi 80% biaya material.  Tujuan penelitian ini meneliti  berapa besar kerugian waste material besi beton dan peringkat faktor faktor yang mempengaruhinya pada proyek bangunan gedung bertingkat . Metode penelitian dengan melakukan kuesioner terhadap kontraktor. Proses pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah dengan menyebar kuesioner di proyek bangunan gedung bertingkat yang berada di Jakarta.  Pengukuran nilai kuesioner sebanyak 64 responden  digunakan teknik pengukuran Likert.  Urutan pengolahan data, pertama dilakukan dengan uji validitas dan uji reliabilitas. Setelah itu faktor-faktor tersebut ditentukan  peringkat dengan metode Relative Importance Index. Hasilnya adalah kerugian  waste material Besi Beton  sebesar 7,5 % dan peringkat yang mempengaruhi kerugian besi beton  adalah:tidak merencanakan bestat penulangan, pendetailan gambar yang rumit, kesalahan pemotongan karena kurang memahami gambar kerja/kecerobohan,informasi gambar kurang/tidak jelas, penggunaan material yang salah sehingga perlu diganti, sisa pemotongan karena proses pemakaian dan adanya perubahan desain.

dentifying the root causes of construction accidents has indicated that not only contractors but designers and architectures are capable of influencing construction workers safety. The aim of this study is to investigate and prioritize factors affecting construction hazards in the design phase. To achieve the aim of this study, a questionnaire survey was distributed among respondents randomly selected from construction sites within Malaysia. Relative Importance Index method was used to prioritize factors in order of level of effect on construction hazards. The results indicated that Lack of designers safety knowledge, Lack of designers knowledge about construction processes and Late involvement of constructors in the design process have the highest level of effect while Lack of safety organizations which evaluates the safety level of design and Few application of components' prefabrication have the lowest level of effect on hazards in the design phase of construction projects.

Material is one of the most important components with a 40-60% contribution of all the project costs. Waste in the construction field can be interpreted as a loss or a loss of material resources, time (about labor and equipment) and capital, which is caused by activities that cost money, directly or indirectly, but does not add any value to the product for users of construction services. This research aims to search for the waste material with the most impact and its percentage, along with the main cause behind the presence of the waste material. This research was conducted by processing primary data in the form of a Likert scale questionnaire.  In the process, this research used the Relative Importance Index (RII) method with a significance level of 5% and assisted with Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) application to test and calculate the data. The result of this research shows that waste material with the most impact is ready mix concrete 10%, reinforcing steel 9.87%, and ceramics 9.5%. The main causes which result in the presence of the waste material are lack of blueprint information, error due to the labor, and the act of abandoning or throwing the material. ABSTRAKMaterial berfungsi sebagai bahan dalam pekerjaan lapangan yang mempunyai peranan sangat penting sebesar 40 – 60% dari seluruh biaya proyek tersebut. Sisa dalam konstruksi dapat kita artikan sebagai kehilangan atau kehilangan sumber daya materi, waktu (dengan melihat tenaga kerja dan peralatan) dan juga modal, hal ini disebabkan oleh aktivitas yang memerlukan biaya, baik secara langsung atau tidak langsung, tetapi sama sekali tidak menambahkan nilai pada produk jasa konstruksi. Tujuan dalam penelitian ini ialah mencari sisa material yang paling mempengaruhi beserta persentasenya dan penyebab utama dari sisa material tersebut. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mengolah data primer berupa kuesioner skala Likert. Dalam prosesnya, penelitian ini memakai Metode Relative Importance Index (RII) dengan taraf signifikansi 5% dan dibantu dengan aplikasi Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) untuk menguji dan menghitung data. Hasil dari penelitian ini mendapati sisa material yang paling mempengaruhi proyek ialah beton ready mix 10%, baja tulangan 9.87%, dan keramik 9.5%. Penyebab utama dari sisa material tersebut ialah informasi gambar yang kurang, kesalahan yang diakibatkan oleh tenaga kerja, dan membuang atau melempar material.

In a construction project, changes during the construction period are common. This change can be in the form of an increase or decrease in volume and type of work, changes in work specifications, or changes in the schedule for implementation. Changes in projects are often known as change orders. Change orders must be approved by all parties in a project namely, contractors, owners, and consultants. Change orders are caused by several factors such as changes in design, delays in procurement of goods, differences in field conditions, and others. The impact of this change order is felt by all parties involved in a project, but the change order has a different impact on each party involved. This study aims to determine the biggest impact of change orders from the contractor. In the questionnaire submitted the impact of change order is divided into several variables namely, the cost of quality, time, organization, and others. From the responses of respondents regarding the impact of change orders on road construction projects, an analysis was performed with the calculation of the Relative Importance Index (RII), and the biggest impact was obtained. Before the data is processed with RII, the validity and reliability tests are performed first. The biggest impact of change orders caused by change orders is that change orders increase the budget for contractors, change orders increase overhead costs, increase project duration, cause project costs overruns, and change orders cause a decrease in project profits. AbstrakPada suatu proyek konstruksi, perubahan selama masa konstruksi merupakan hal yang umum terjadi. Perubahan ini bisa berupa penambahan atau pengurangan volume dan jenis pekerjaan, perubahan spesifikasi pekerjaan, maupun perubahan jadwal pelakasnaan. Perubahan dalam proyek sering dikenal change order. Change order harus disetujui oleh semua pihak yang ada dalam suatu proyek, yaitu kontraktor, pemilik, dan konsultan. Change order disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor seperti perubahan desain, keterlambatan pengadaan barang, perbedaan kondisi lapangan, dan lain-lain. Dampak dari change order ini dirasakan seluruh pihak yang terlibat dalam suatu proyek, namun change order menimbulkan dampak yang berbeda pada tiap pihak yang terlibat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dampak change order terbesar dari pihak kontraktor. Dalam kuesioner yang diajukan dampak change order dibagi menjadi beberapa variabel yaitu, biaya mutu, waktu, organisasi, dan lainnya. Dari hasil tanggapan responden mengenai dampak change order pada proyek konstruksi jalan, dilakukan analisis dengan perhitungan Relative Importance Index (RII), dan didapat dampak terbesar. Sebelum data diolah dengan RII dilakukan uji validitas dan uji reliabilitas terlebih dahulu. Dampak change order terbesar yang ditimbulkan oleh change order adalah change order menambah anggaran untuk kontraktor, change order meningkatkan biaya overhead, menambah durasi proyek, menyebabkan biaya proyek membengkak, dan change order menyebabkan penurunan keuntungan proyek.

Tourism contributes to the conservation and protection of mountainous areas, and even the characteristics and activities of tourism also affect the environmental sustainability of an area. This study aims to identify tourist characteristics, their opinion towards a sustainable environment, their activities conducted at the park and environmental impacts. Overall, 383 respondents agreed to participate, and the response has been analysed using the relative importance’s of these activities, and environmental impacts were quantified by the relative importance index method. Most of them visited Mount Kinabalu to experience natural sightseeing and hiking activity. Majority of them know environmental concern but feeling that KNP is rather crowded. Overall, the most popular activities were mount climbing and wildlife sightseeing by domestic and international tourist. The result of the study also has shown that noise and air pollution were ranked as the most important environmental impacts factors. Considering mountain tourism is an attraction and contributor to the economy of Sabah, there must be effective preventive measures. Because of that, planning, implementing and strengthening new policies and rules for tourist activities regarding the conservation and protection will help to minimize the impacts of tourism. Through the results of the study using the Relative Importance Index (RII) analysis, it is hoped that it will be able to help provide suggestions and solutions to balance the impacts of tourism in Mount Kinabalu towards sustainability.

Purpose Construction delays are a common problem in the Egyptian construction industry. Frequent delays in a project can lead to disputes and litigation. This paper aims to study and analyze the causes of construction delays. Design/methodology/approach This research identifies delay causes in residential projects in Egypt and analyzes these causes with the relative importance index method. The feedback of construction experts was obtained through interviews. Subsequently, a questionnaire survey was prepared. Fifty-six different delay causes were identified and categorized into eight categories based on a literature review and interviews with 36 experts from the construction industry who represent owners, consultants and contractors. Findings According to the highest values of the relative importance index, the top ten delay causes of residential projects in Egypt are determined. Statistical analysis is carried out using the analysis of variance method to test delay causes obtained from the survey, which revealed a good correlation between residential projects parties with respect to most of the delay causes. A fuzzy logic model using MATLAB is developed for determining the probability of delay of residential projects, and the model was tested in a real case study and was found to be satisfactory. Originality/value Delay causes in residential projects in Egypt were identified, and these causes were analyzed using the relative importance index method and fuzzy logic.

Change orders are proposals for additional / less work where the main work does not follow the initial design or there are new proposals for new work at all (Pusat Pendidikan dan Pelatihan Sumber Daya Air dan Konstruksi, 2017). A contract or agreement has been signed before implementing the project, but changes often occur after and greatly affect the project performance. This change is also needed to be known if it occurs in a water construction project. To control change orders and contract changes, it is necessary to know the causing factors. This study aims to determine these causative factors by compiling a questionnaire distributed to workers in the water construction sector in the area of DKI Jakarta. The questionnaire results were tested for validity and reliability and Ranked by RII (Relative Importance Index) method. With the acquisition of RII above 0.51, the results found that coordination with utility systems (RII 0, 6842), is the main contributing factor to the Change Order in the construction of DKI Jakarta water buildings. ABSTRAKChange order adalah usulan pekerjaan tambah/kurang dimana pekerjaan utama tidak mengikuti desain awal atau terdapat usulan pekerjaan baru sama sekali(Pusat Pendidikan dan Pelatihan Sumber Daya Air dan Konstruksi, 2017). Sebelum pelaksanaan proyek, pihak yang terlibat dalam konstruksi telah menandatangani kontrak atau kesepakatan. Dalam pelaksanaannya, setelah penandatanagnan kontrak seringkali terjadi perubahan-perubahan. Perubahan sangat berpengaruh pada kinerja proyek, perubahan ini juga perlu diketahui terjadi atau tidaknya dalam proyek konstruksi air. Jika perubahan dalam proyek terjadi pada proyek konstruksi air, untuk mengendalikan perintah perubahan maupun perubahan kontrak diperlukan pengetahuan faktor penyebab terjadinya perubahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor penyebab dengan penyusunan kuesioner yang disebarkan terhadap pekerja bidang konstruksi air wilayah cakupan DKI Jakarta. Setelah dilakukan uji validitas dan reliabilitas, hasil kuesioner akan diurutkan berdasar tingkat kepentingan dengan metode RII. Dengan perolehan RII diatas 0,51, hasil yang ditemukan bahwa pengkoordinasian dengan sistem utilitas (RII 0, 6842), merupakan faktor penyebab utama Change Order pada konstruksi bangunan air DKI Jakarta.

PurposeMaintenance of heritage buildings in Egypt is essential for extending their life and preserving them in a good condition for current use and future generations. The purpose of this paper aims to study the significant parameters to be taken into consideration in the decision-making process for maintenance of heritage buildings.Design/methodology/approachThis research identifies and analyzes the parameters affecting maintenance decision-making process using relative importance index method. Sixty-three parameters were collected from the literature and were categorized into six groups. The feedback of 15 experts who represent owners' representatives and consultants in the field of maintenance and preservation of heritage buildings was obtained through a questionnaire survey and analyses were conducted on the results.FindingsAccording to the highest values of the relative importance index method, the top 10 influencing parameters are determined. A comparison between feedback of the two groups of experts is conducted. Statistical analysis is carried out to test the parameters, revealing a strong correlation between structural and geotechnical groups of parameters.Originality/valueParameters affecting decision-making for maintenance of heritage buildings were identified, influencing parameters can be used to compare between heritage buildings in greater need of maintenance than others.

The construction industry of India is the second-largest contributor to the GDP and provides employment to a large population in the country. Its contribution to the GDP is about 8-10% on an average in the last decade. The objective of this study is to identify and analyze the significant factors affecting construction productivity using relative importance index method with a special focus on the Indian construction industry. A structured questionnaire survey method is used to collect the data from the primary stakeholders of the Indian construction industry including but not limited to consultants, architects, civil contractor, developer, PMC, and academia people. Total of 201 valid responses were received with a response rate of 32%. The value of reliability analysis is above 0.95, which is considered highly reliable for data-based studies. The findings of the study provide a ranking of factors affecting construction productivity. Most significant factors affecting construction productivity are availability of resources, contractual disputes, scope clarity of the project, design capability, and frequent design changes having the value on relative importance index scale 0.801, 0.799, 0.790, 0.785, and 0.776 respectively. This research paper concludes that the productivity can be achieved by changing the work culture and reviewing the management process for execution. Which suggests the implementation of best practices and motivation towards achieving the goal of having higher productivity by looking at the factor and analyzing how to promote productivity improvement.
