ResumoO artigo pretende refletir sobre as relações entre o pensamento decolonial e o campo da educação, tomando como base uma etnografia das práticas educativas interculturais desenvolvidas no cotidiano de uma religião de matriz africana na Amazônia, o Tambor de Mina. Os dados deste estudo foram obtidos por meio de uma pesquisa qualitativa, do tipo estudo de caso etnográfico, no qual se realizou observação participante das práticas sociais, religiosas e educacionais do terreiro, entrevistas semiestruturadas com membros da casa, entrevistas etnográficas com entidades espirituais incorporadas em seus adeptos, descrição densa e levantamento de traços da história de vida dos sujeitos. Espera-se, a um só tempo, contribuir para o debate epistemológico centrado no cruzamento entre decolonialidade e educação, bem como discutir, a partir de elementos presentes na prática investigada, a possibilidade de construção de uma pedagogia decolonial na Amazônia que, dentre outros contributos, promova a tolerância na diversidade cultural e religiosa.Palavras-chave: Pedagogia decolonial; Educação; Tambor de Mina; Interculturalidade; Amazônia.Intercultural education in religion of African origin in Amazon: contributions to a Decolonial PedagogyAbstractThe article aims to reflect on relations between the decolonial thought and the education, based on an ethnography of intercultural education developed in the daily life of a religion of African origin in Amazon, the Tambor de Mina. Data from this study were obtained through a qualitative research, of an ethnographic case study type, with participant observation of social, religious and educational practices of the religion, semi-structured interviews with members of the house, ethnographic interviews with spiritual entities incorporated in its followers, dense description and life story of the subjects. It is expected, at the same time, contributing to the epistemological debate centered at the intersection between decoloniality and education, as well as to discuss, from elements present in the investigated practice, the possibility of building a decolonial pedagogy in the Amazon which, among other contributions, promote the tolerance in the cultural and religious diversity.Keywords: Decolonial Pedagogy; Education; Tambor de Mina; Interculturality; Amazon.

Bolstering the political formation of agrarian organizations has become a priority for La Vía Campesina and the Food Sovereignty Movement. This paper addresses the Spanish case study of the Escuela de Acción Campesina (EAC)—(Peasant Action School), which is a tool for political formation in the Global North in which the philosophical and pedagogical principles of the “peasant pedagogies” of the Training Schools proposed by La Vía Campesina are put into practice within an agrarian organization in Spain and in alliance with the rest of the Spanish Food Sovereignty Movement. The study was carried out over the course of the 10 years of activist research, spanning the entire process for the construction and development of the EAC. Employing an ethnographic methodology, information was collected through participant observation, ethnographic interviews, a participatory workshop, and reviews of internal documents. The paper presents the context in which the EAC arose, its pedagogical dynamics, the structure and the ideological contents implemented for the training of new cadres, and how there are three key areas in the training process: (1) the strengthening of collective union and peasant identity, (2) training in the “peasant” ideological proposal, and (3) the integration of students as new cadres into the organizations’ structures. It is concluded that the EAC is a useful tool in the ideological re-peasantization process of these organizations.

Avaliar o registro dos enfermeiros nos prontuários do paciente eletrônico e convencional, com vista à melhoria da qualidade do cuidado. Estudo descritivo, tipo estudo de caso. Foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas com 8 enfermeiros da enfermaria de coronariopatias e a análise dos registros nos dois tipos de prontuários do paciente. Nos 25 prontuários revistos, constatou-se o número de 51 registros, sendo 37 do prontuário eletrônico e 14 do prontuário convencional, média de 31 dias de internação. Atrelou-se a não realização ao número insuficiente de profissionais de enfermagem no setor em comparação à complexidade dos pacientes atendidos. Destaca-se como obstáculo o quantitativo de pessoal da equipe de enfermagem e sua carga de trabalho. Consequentemente, há necessidade de ajustes quantitativo e qualitativo no processo de trabalho relacionados a execução desta e das demais tarefas para que possam ser adequadamente conduzidas.Descritores: Cuidados de Enfermagem, Registros Eletrônicos de Saúde, Carga de trabalho. Nursing records and their implications for the quality of careAbstract: To evaluate nurses' records in the electronic and conventional patient charts, with a view to improving the quality of care. El artículo ofrece datos sobre el pastoreo extensivo y sobre los sistemas de cultivo y las formas de vida hasta los años 70 en Torreandaluz, un pueblo del suroeste soriano. Se fundamenta en una etnografía llevada a cabo entre mediados de 2015 y la actualidad. Está basada en la observación participante, la historia de vida de un pastor de Torreandaluz y entrevistas informales a agricultores y pastores jubilados del lugar. Pretende ofrecer una visión sobre el impacto que sobre las formas de agricultura y ganadería ovina extensiva, así como sobre las formas de vida, tuvo la llegada de las técnicas de la llamada Revolución Verde. The article offers data on extensive shepherding, cultivation systems and lifestyles up to the 1970s, in Torreandaluz, a village in the southwest of Soria province. It is based on an ethnography carried out from the middle of 2015 until today. The participant observation, the life story of a shepherd of Torreandaluz and informal interviews with farmers and retired shepherds of the place made up this study. It intends to offer a vision about the impact that the arrival of the techniques of the so-called Green Revolution had on agriculture and extensive sheep farming, as well as on forms of life.

<p>This research examined the use of learning stories as a way to gather, analyse and use evidence to support the development of social studies conceptual understandings. This is important because there is limited research in New Zealand related to social studies assessment in secondary school environments, or in the monitoring of conceptual changes in understanding. The limited research that can be drawn upon highlights the challenges social studies teachers face teaching and assessing conceptually.  Sociocultural theory featured strongly throughout the research, through the decision to investigate learning stories as an assessment approach, as well as the lens with which to approach the methodology. In order to investigate the Learning Story Framework, as an intervention, a qualitative design-based methodology was utilised involving one in-depth case study. The research composed of three iterative phases, gathering evidence using semi-structured interviews, participant observation and documentation analysis, including reflective journals.  The findings suggested that learning stories can be used to support the development of conceptual understandings in conjunction with a reflective class culture, strong community relationships, clarity of planning for and sharing conceptual understandings, and support for students to critically reflect.</p>

Resumo: O artigo apresenta a discussão sobre materiais didáticos que auxiliam na educação inclusiva de alunos que possuem deficiência visual. As pesquisas têm apontado carência de recursos didáticos adaptados ao cotidiano escolar dos alunos com deficiência. O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar um material didático adaptado que se mostrou eficiente e contribuiu para o avanço do processo de aprendizagem de uma aluna com baixa visão no estudo do conteúdo Sistema Digestório Humano. A pesquisa é do tipo estudo de caso e o seu paradigma é do tipo qualitativo. O desenho metodológico incluiu a organização de duas entrevistas semiestruturadas com uma aluna com baixa visão, sendo uma anterior e outra posterior à prática com o uso do material adaptado. Com o presente estudo, foi possível concluir que a utilização de recursos didáticos demonstra potencial positivo na promoção da aprendizagem significativa de alunos com deficiência visual na disciplina de Ciências.Palavras-chave: Educação Inclusiva; Recursos Didáticos; Ciências. Abstract: This article presents the discussion about the didatic materials that help in inclusive education for students with visual impairment. Research has pointed to a lack of didactic resources adapted to the daily school life of students with disabilities. The objective of this paper is to present an adapted didatic material that proved to be efficient and contributed to the advancement of the learning process of a student with low vision in the study of the Human Digestive System content. The research is of the case study type and its paradigm is of the qualitative type. The methodological design included the organization of two semi-structured interviews with a student with low vision, one before and one after the practice with the use of adapted material. With the present study, it was possible to conclude that the use of didactic resources demonstrates positive potential in promoting the meaningful learning of visually impaired students in the Science discipline.Keywords: Inclusive Education; Didactic Resources; Sciences.

This study's objective was to identify changes in decision-making arising from the revitalization of the participatory management model and how these changes impacted the daily work of the nursing staff, as well as to identify potential difficulties. This qualitative case study was conducted in a public hospital in the State of São Paulo, Brazil. Participant observation and semi-structured interviews were conducted with 23 nursing workers and the Health Technical Assistant. We used thematic content analysis for data analysis. The revitalization of the management model was not comprehensive because many professionals were oblivious to the process. Shared actions did not occur and adherence to the model was hampered because the workers were not fully informed of the assumptions concerning this management model. For the implementation of this model to be effective, teamwork and the inclusion of all the stakeholders should be reviewed in order to achieve more cooperative and qualified work.

The majority of British Muslims live in cities such as London, Leicester, Birmingham and Bradford—and academic research thus far has reflected a city and post-manufacturing town emphasis. This paper investigates the as yet undocumented history and mosque politics of Muslims living in the small town of Eastbourne, East Sussex, using participant observation and unstructured and semi-structured interviews. Firstly, I conceptualise my case study group by highlighting some differences found in a small town in terms of the origins of its Muslims, their ethnic heterogeneity, and residential spatial distribution. Secondly, I explore mosque politics in terms of mosque planning, public reactions to mosque rebuilding, and mosque management issues.

PurposeThis research aims to contribute to the literature on Lean implementation in healthcare by studying the emotional experiences of the relevant actors related to a Rapid Process Improvement Workshop (RPIW) in a UK healthcare context. The purpose of this study was to go beyond what people think about Lean and towards an exploration of their subjective, emotional and “feeling” experience and whether that emotional experience influenced Lean implementation.Design/methodology/approachA phenomenological and symbolic interactionist qualitative case study was undertaken. Data related to participants' emotional experience were collected through non-participant observation and semi-structured interviews. Data were analysed using thematic network analysis.FindingsThis paper provides novel insights into the emotional experience of Lean as experienced through an RPIW. The findings reveal that participation in an RPIW is much more than a technical process. It influences how people feel about themselves, is based on relationships with others, and requires mental, physical and emotional effort. All of these factors influence engagement with, initiation of and sustainability of the RPIW.Research limitations/implicationsA new conceptual framework for the planning and implementation of RPIWs has been developed. However, because of the chosen research approach, the results may lack generalisability. Therefore, researchers are encouraged to test the framework and proposed practice implications.Originality/valueDespite emotions being an integral part of individual and social everyday life, emotional experience has not been studied in relation to Lean. This study is the first to explore emotions in relation to Lean, with implications for practice as to how RPIWs are managed with a new framework for implementation being proposed.

This study aimed to understand the main conflicts experienced by nurses-leaders in the hospital environment, as well as the strategies adopted to face them. The study reflects a qualitative descriptive type approach, which was used in the case study as research strategy. The study included 25 nurses who worked in three hospitals in the city of Florianopolis, Santa Catarina. Information where obtained in the months of May to December of 2010 through semi-structured interviews, non-participant observation and dialogical workshops. Data were analyzed using the Thematic Analysis. The results demonstrated the predominant of interpersonal conflicts involving the multidisciplinary team, nurses and the nursing staff. Adopting a participatory leadership, based on dialogue emerges as a strategy for coping with conflicts in the hospital environment.

Objectives: To know the most used types of touch and understand their meanings for physical therapists working in a hospital environment, from the perspective of their feelings, attitudes and behaviors during care. Materials and methods: Qualitative case study conducted by physical therapists working at a hospital in Brazil. For data collection, participant observation and semi-structured interviews were used as techniques. Data were analyzed according to the thematic content analysis proposed by Minayo. Results: 16 physical therapists participated in the study and, from the analysis of the empirical material, four thematic categories emerged: Instrumental touch as a fundamental resource of hospital physical therapy assistance; expressive touch: Its little presence does not mean absence of affection; physical therapist’s feelings related to touch and difficulty talking about touch means that there is a deficiency in training. Conclusions: The underuse of expressive touch revealed the lack of knowledge and unpreparedness in the formation of the physical therapist, which, added to the lack of self-knowledge, hinders the affection and the creation of bonds in relationships. All of this justifies the rare studies on affective touch in health, which reflects an area to be explored and the need to sensitize professionals to influence the quality and humanization of care.
