The particle size distribution of soil is very importantto its physical and mechanical property. The ordinary method of the particlesize distribution analysis is based on shaking the soil through a set of sieves. But it will be difficult to use the method while there have particles largerthan the biggest aperture of the size sieves. Then the digital image processingwas used to solve the problem here. The processing technologies, such as imageanalysis and enhancement, deblurring, edge detection were studied to analyzethe image of soil particles. Then the image processing method was used to getthe particle size distribution accurately. Though some promotions need to becarried out in the further study, it is can be found that the image processingmethod is more efficiently than the traditional method.

In laboratory condition, industrial zirconia and alumina were used as raw materials, whose particle size was controlled by ultrafine treatment of mechanical milling. The effects of different firing temperatures and soaking times on mechanical properties of Al2O3-based composite ceramics liner were researched. And the microstructure of samples was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results indicate that mechanical properties of samples kept 3 h at sintering temperature of 1600°C with adding 30 wt% zirconia are the best.

In this paper, low cis-butadiene (LCPB) is used in the process of polymerization of HIPS to study the influence of the polymerization condition on the particle size of rubber and mechanical property. It can be discovered from the study that the particle size was increased from 300nm to 500nm with the decreasing stir. The test of mechanical property shows that with the increase of content of rubber, elongation at break and impact strength on cantilever increase, but stretching strength decreases. On condition of 100 rpm, when the content of rubber increases from 3% to 9%, elongation at break increases from 21.9% to 25.0%, stretching strength decreases from 30.5 MPa to 23.9 MPa, and the cantilever impact strength increases from 5.4KJ/m2 to 9.3KJ/m2. On condition of 200 rpm, when the content of rubber increases from 3% to 9%, elongation at break increases from 21.4% to 29.1%, stretching strength decreases from 28.7 MPa to 20.8 MPa, and the cantilever impact strength increases from 5.2KJ/m2 to 8.1KJ/m2. Keywords: HIPS, mechanical properties, morphologies, T117 initiation

Porous SiC/Si3N4 composite ceramic was prepared at different temperatures by pressureless using SiC and Si3N4 as raw materials. The effects of sintering temperature and different particle size of SiC on porosity SiC/Si3N4 composite ceramic were investigated. The phases, microstructure and mechanical property were characterized by XRD, SEM, and compressive tests respectively. The results indicate that the increase of sintering temperature is in favor of the formation of β-Si3N4 crystal phase, the porosity and the compression strengthof porous SiC/Si3N4 composite ; The porosity of Si3N4/SiC block which contain particle graded higher than single particle size, but weaker compression strength.

The semi-solid thixo-extruded process of AZ91D magnesium alloy with 9 % plastic deformation was investigated. The effect of isothermal time on the thixo-extruded formability of AZ91D magnesium alloy was analyzed. The relationship between isothermal time and microstructure, mechanical property was also researched. The results showed that with increasing the isothermal time from zero to 60 min on 575 °C, the filling distance was increased firstly and then decreased, the solid volume fraction was decreased firstly and then increased, the tensile strength and elongation were also increased firstly and then decreased. However, the increasing isothermal time would lead to decrease of shape factor but the coarsening of particle size. When the isothermal time was 30 min, the solid volume fraction was lowest and the filling distance was greatly increased obviously.

The manufacture technology and mould structure of bonded NdFeB arc-magnets from press molding were described. The effects of the content of binder and additives, particle size of magnetic powder, the molding pressure, the treatment of magnet surface on the mechanical property, processing property, magnetic property and anti-oxidation property of press molding magnets were investigated. The press molding bonded magnets were prepared by using the MQP-B rapidly quenching NdFeB magnetic powder and epoxy binder. The magnetic properties are: Br = 0.722 T, Hcb = 457 kA/m, Hci = 718 kA/m, and (BH) max = 83.5 kJ/m3.

The Cu/LDPE composites were characterized through the tests of micro-structure, mechanical property, surface hydrophilicity and releasing rate of cupric ions, in order to study the influence of the particle size of LDPE on the performance of Cu/LDPE composites. The results indicate that, with decreasing of the particle size of LDPE, Cu/LDPE composites have greater value of elongation at break and releasing rate of cupric, but smaller value of tensile strength and elasticity modulus, and the influence on surface hydrophilicity and crystalline is little. It is considered that the influence of the particle size of LDPE on the performance of Cu/LDPE composites results from the difference of both the molecular weight of LDPE and the dispersion uniformity of copper in LDPE.
