The purpose of the research is to get the description of science literacy skill and technology after the learning process through science technology society� learning model in the sub-concept of water pollution. The method that I used is free eksperimental and the sample of the research is the class X of MIPA 4 from the population of the class X SMAN 2 Indramayu. The research instruments are observation sheet which purposing in analyzing the science literacy and technology of the student, multiple choice consisting of 20 questions which are given through pretest and posttest, and questionnaire which analyze the student�s response after the learning. The observation result shows that in the science technology society� learning model have few obstacles: inadequate of facilities and infrastructure, students� lack of the knowledge, lack of preparation and lack of time. In general, the students are quite capable to do three kinds of the science literacy aspects and two kinds aspects of technology literacy. The three aspects of science literacy includes: explanation in regards to the scientific phenomena, designing and evaluating scientific exploration, and the use of scientific evidence. Technology literacy includes: management and evaluation of information gathers from all source of media and understanding the utilization of technology. Learning through Science technology society� model can improved the student�s science and technology literacy in gaining knowledge, skill and attitude. The knowledge that the student get are more meaningful and will be longer lasting in their mind. Based on the analyisi the mean Pretest� is 49,5 and the mean� () posttest is 70,7. After that, I conducted the test of t and the result is thitung (0,86) > ttabel (0,05), which means this is significantly different. The analysis of questionnaire shows that most of the students give positive response to the indicator with the mean of them is more than 75%Keywords: Science Literacy; Technolgy Literacy; Science technology society; Water Pollution

The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of the application of learning model ofScience Technology Society (STS)  to the ability of understanding the concept of Biologystudents on the subject of VII grade ecosystem MTs Paradigma Palembang. The desain ofstudy used the design of the Nonequivalent Control Group Design with Quasi Experimentalmethod (quasi experiment). These sample included 35 students. Based on the results of theanalysis of students' concept of understanding shows that the implementation of learningusing the model of learning Science Technology Society (STS)  is better than theconventional learning model. It can can be seen from the calculation of the t-test showed ofstudents' concept of understanding sig t-value 0.000 < 0,05, then Ha accepted and H0 rejected.The result of analysis of the improvement of the average completeness of the conceptualunderstanding of the experimental class is 48.2% while the students 'understanding of thecontrol class is 29.2%, which means that the students' understanding of the concept of theexperimental class is higher than the understanding of the concept of the control class. This, itcan be concluded that the learning model of Science Technology Society (STS) around effecton understanding the concept of students of class VII MTs Paradigma Palembang

Science literacy is the main key to face challenges in the 21st century. The research aimed to describe the students abilities of science literacy on chemical equilibrium topic through implementation of guided inquiry learning model. The research design used is One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research was conducted in class XI MIPA 4 of SMAN 3 Surabaya. Data obtained by instruments of multiple-choice tests of scientific literacy and observation sheet. The results showed that every aspect of students’ scientific literacy ability was increased in the medium criteria, it was indicated by an average gain score of 0.6 for competence to explain scientific phenomena and to evaluate data and design scientific investigations. Moreover competence of interpreting data and scientific evidence obtains gain score of 0.7. The result of this research indicated that the ability of scientific literacy had been trained to students.

This research is a classroom action research which aims to improve learning outcomes physics class in Madrasah Aliyah Al-Ihsan Kalijaring. The sample used in this research is class XI MIPA totaling 31 people, by applying science technology society learning model.  This study is successful if students achieve learning outcomes classical completeness 85% with the value of each student reach ≥ 75. Based on the evaluation of the obtained value of the average grade in the first cycle of 77.01 with 74.42% classical completeness. In the second cycle learning outcomes of students has increased, with an average grade of 93.02 and classical completeness amounted to 90.46%. Based on the interest questionnaire that has been distributed to students before and after the action, data is obtained that the student's interest has increased. The indicators that showed an increase were the total score obtained before the administration of action was 1842 with an average of 42.84 increasing to 2326 with an average of 54.86. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that by applying the Jigsaw cooperative learning model can increase interest and learning outcomes in physics class XI MIPA Madrasah Aliyah Al-Ihsan Kalijaring Tembelang Jombang.

Proses pembelajaran seharusnya memberikan sebuah pengalaman untuk mendukung proses pengetahuan dalam mencerna pembelajaran. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan pengaruh model pembelajaran argument-driven inquiry terhadap kemampuan kognitif dan literasi sains siswa pada materi jaringan tumbuhan di kelas XI SMA Bekasi tahun pelajaran 2019/2020. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Agustus-September 2019 dengan metode penelitian quasi experimental. Desain penelitian berupa pretest-posttest control group. Sampel penelitian sebanyak sebanyak 62 diambil menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data berbentuk pilihan ganda sebanyak 30 butir soal untuk tes kemampuan kognitif dan tes literasi sains berbentuk pilihan ganda sebanyak 18 butir soal. Analisis data menggunakan uji ANCOVA dengan probabilitas atau taraf signifikan sebesar 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa model pembelajaran argument-driven inquiry berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kemampuan kognitif dan literasi sains pada konsep jaringan tumbuhan di kelas eksperimen.Kata kunci: kemampuan kognitif, literasi sains,argument-driven inquiry Cognitive ability and literacy science: a learning model argument-driven inquiry in plant tissue concept. The learning process should provide an experience to support the knowledge process in digesting learning. This research aims to explain the influence of the model learning argument-driven inquiry on the cognitive ability and science literacy of students in plant tissue concept in class XI senior high school Bekasi year 2019/2020. Research was conducted in August-September 2019. This research uses true experimental methods with pretest-posttest control group research design. Research samples of 62 students were taken using the technique of random sampling cluster. The data collection techniques in the form of a 30-grain choice for the cognitive skills test and the science literacy test in the form of a compound of 18 items. Data analysis uses ANCOVA test with a significant probability or level of (α) = 5%. The results showed that there were the learning model argument-driven inquiry influences on the cognitive ability and science literacy of the plant tissue concept in the experimental class.Keywords: Cognitive abilities, scientific literacy skill, argument-driven inquiry

Physics learning aims to develop knowledge and train students' thinking skills.  But in reality, students haven’t been able to develop because they are less trained to find concepts independently. Student worksheets includes teaching materials that can help students find concepts and apply these concepts. The purpose of this study was to produce student worksheets using the inquiry based learning model with the community technology science approach with criteria valid. Learning using a valid student worksheets can improved student’s competence. This type of research is R&D using the Plomp model. The validity assesment is carried out by expert reviews, then analyzed using Aiken’s V formula. The results of validity of student worksheets meet the valid criteria of 0.79. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the student worksheets uses the inquiry based learning model with a science technology society approach valid for use in Physics learning.

The aim of this study is to evaluate science teacher candidates based on bioethical values, scientific literacy level and empathy skills and to determine their associations. Therefore, descriptive model was used for the study. The sample of the study consists total of 286 teacher candidates from first, second, third and fourth grade of Faculty of Education Science Teaching department. Results of the study revealed that bioethical values for &ldquo;Benefits of Biotechnology Applications&rdquo;, &ldquo;Science and Ethics&rdquo;, &ldquo;Reproductive Technologies and Cloning&rdquo;, &ldquo;Controlling the Genetic Interventions&rdquo; subscales were increased with school year in science teacher candidates. In addition, science literacy of science teacher candidates for &ldquo;Nature of Science&rdquo; and &ldquo;Science-Technology-Society Relation&rdquo; subscales were also increased with school year. The study also found a positive relation between bioethical values for two subscales of bioethical values, &ldquo;Benefits of Biotechnology Applications&rdquo; and &ldquo;Controlling the Genetic Interventions&rdquo;, and science literacy for &ldquo;Nature of Science&rdquo; subscales in science teacher candidates. Similarly, a positive relation was found between bioethical values for two subscales, &ldquo;Benefits of Biotechnology Applications&rdquo; and &ldquo;Controlling the Genetic Interventions&rdquo;, and science literacy for &ldquo;Science-Technology-Society Relation&rdquo; subscale in science teacher candidates. Analysis results showed a positive relation between bioethical values and empathy skills of science teacher candidates. In other words, the higher the teacher&rsquo;s empathy skills, the higher their bioethical values.

<p class="BasicParagraph">The aims of this study to describe the science literacy profile of junior high school students in science learning. The research sample is the students of class IX junior high school in Pati. The research using this descriptive method, data were collected by using science literacy test questions, questionnaires, and interview formats. The results showed that the average achievement of student science literacy as a whole was 28,31%. Ability to explain scientific phenomena of 28.64%, students 'ability in evaluating and designing scientific investigation of 24.48% and students' ability in interpreting data and scientific evidence of 31.81%. This shows that the mean percentage of science literacy on three science literacy capacities measured shows &lt;50%. The low one of the literacy skills of science will affect the ability of other science literacy. Based on the questionnaire analysis used in the research reveals factors that affect the ability of science literacy students include interest in science, learning motivation, teacher strategy in learning, and school facilities.</p>

The direction of current science is emphasized on the importance of science literacy skill as a preparation for students returning to community after finishing school. Science literacy skill is believed can help the individuals to solve the problem scientifically and accountable. Science textbooks are instructional tools that help students learning science. The purpose of this research is to analyse the textbooks of Physics for high school grade X about Optical Instruments topic based on science literacy indicator. The study conducted in four senior highschools. There were two textbooks used in those schools, Book A and Book B. The results showed that on average the emergence of science literacy indicator of science nomenclature was 17.5%, intellectual process skills was 45.5%, the rules of scientific evidence was 8.5%, postulate of science was 19%, and scientific disposition was 9.5%. Book A contained of more research activities than Book B, but Book B linked the second indicator more comprehensive. The advantages and disadvantages of each analyzed textbooks can be used as a further background study for developing the good quality teaching material of physics-based scientific literacy.

Penelitian ini bertujuan ingin mengetahui proses identifikasi masalah lingkungan hidup yang dapat dilakukan mahasiswa pada matakuliah Ekologi Manusia, mengembangkan prosedur model pembelajaran STS pada matakuliah Ekologi Manusia, dan membandingkan tingkat efektivitas model pembelajaran STS dengan model konvensional yang selama ini dilakukan pada perkuliahan Ekologi Manusia. Disain Eksperimen yang akan digunakan adalah Pretest-postest, Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. Dengan design ini, subjek penelitian ditest sebelum mendapat perlakuan (pretest). Pretest dalam desain penelitian ini digunakan untuk pengontrolan secara statistic (statistical control) dan untuk melihat pengaruh perlakuan terhadap capaian skor (gain score). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil test awal (pretest) nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh oleh responden hanya 17,0 dari 40 soal yang diajukan artinya jauh di bawah rata-rata. Standar deviasi dari rangkaian skor nilai adalah sekitar 4,8. Selanjutnya dari data hasil posttest ada kenaikan rata 22,7 yang menjawab dengan benar dari 40 soal. Dengan demikian, sudah dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode STS dapat meningkatkan prestasi mahasiswa.Keywords: STS teaching and learning model, students’ awareness, environment
