This is an academic-research paper consisting of two parts: a theoretical and an empirical one. The theoretical part defines the conceptual basis, i.e. the frames of the research project. This means that it primarily deals with some relevant assumptions, such as the personal traits in the context of the academic accomplishments of the students that attend courses for teachers and educators. We conducted an empirical research to determine the role of these components. We opted for the technique of a non-probabilistic research of the sample. It consists of 115 students attending the first cycle of studies at the faculties of pedagogy. We used Eysenck’s Personality Questionnaire (EPQ) as an instrument to measure the following traits: neuroticism – stability, extroversion – introversion, and psychoticism. A simple one-way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used to process the data. The result analysis led to the following conclusions: 1. The students differ in the academic accomplishments based on the variable of neuroticism; and 2. The students differ in the accomplishments based on the variable extraversion. We also suggest that other researches in this scientific area are conducted for a detailed analysis of the relation between the personality traits and the academic accomplishments.

The paper reflects one of the aspects of the research carried out within the framework of the project “Nature of variability of negative personality traits: a twin study”. The research reviews the adaptive component of negative personal traits. The sample of the study consisted of 136 members of monozygotic twins and 401 only children in their families aged 18-78. Life satisfaction was a generalized metric of psychological adaptation. It is shown that a number of negative personality traits (in particular, narcissism, authoritarianism) positively correlate with life satisfaction. The biased value of various personality traits, which can also indirectly serve as an indicator of adaptability of these psychological properties, was assessed using a semantic differential. The age-related changes in the perfect image of the self, which are associated primarily with some more attractive negative personal traits, as well as the multidirectional desired changes in personality traits in themselves and the twin (more power and conflict in themselves and less of the same in the brother/sister) also indicate that a number of negative personal traits play a positive role in psychological adaptation. It is assumed that these traits can have a compensatory function during stress, and the destructiveness of these traits can have a greater impact on people around than on themselves.

This study aims to take an in-depth look at the role of personality traits and emotional intelligence in relation to organizational justice. The Italian version of the Organizational Justice Scale (OJS), the Italian version of the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire Revised Short Form (EPQ-RS) and the Italian version of the Bar-On Emotional Quotient Inventory (Bar-On EQ-i) were administered to 241 nurses. The emotional intelligence dimensions add a significant percentage of incremental variance compared to variances due to personality traits with respect to organizational justice. The results highlight the role of emotional intelligence and its relationship with organizational justice, offering new research and intervention perspectives.

The article describes what indicators of the condition of society are used in Russia and abroad. Publications in which happiness, subjective economic well-being, life satisfaction, subjective quality of life and others are considered in this capacity, are reviewed. The question of the role of personality traits in assessing the situation in the country is raised, as well as the impact of these assessments on the economic behaviour of citizens. The results of the empirical study of 260 subjects using questionnaires, which include questions about the political, psychological, social, economic situation in the country, economic behaviour and psycho-diagnostic tests, are presented. The interrelations of assessments of the political and psychological situation in the country with personal traits and debt behaviour are revealed. Extraversion and openness to experience are negatively, and conscientiousness is positively interconnected with positive assessments of the state of the Russian society. The differences in assessments of the state of the Russian society among respondents with different investment preferences are described.

Purpose This study aims to investigate the mediating role of shopping intention and the moderating roles of employee incompetence and consumer similarity in the relationship between consumers’ personal traits and their shoplifting behaviors Design/methodology/approach Drawing on the theory of planned behavior (TPB), the authors develop and test a model that links personality traits to shoplifting intention and behavior. The results from a sample of 507 consumers. Findings The results from a sample of 507 consumers show that shoplifting intention mediates the effects of personality traits (materialism, alienation and sensation seeking) on shoplifting behavior. In addition, both employee incompetence and consumer similarity are found to moderate the relationship between shoplifting intention and behavior. The findings offer some useful theoretical and managerial implications. Originality/value Drawing on the TPB, the authors investigate how personality traits (i.e. materialism, sensation seeking and consumer alienation) influence shoplifting behavior via shoplifting intention. They find that the effects of materialism, sensation seeking and alienation on shoplifting behavior are mediated by shoplifting intention. More importantly, they also find strong support for the moderating roles of employee incompetence and consumer similarity on the relationship between shoplifting intention and behavior. While employee incompetence enhances the relationship between shoplifting intention and shoplifting behavior, consumer similarity negatively moderates the relationship between shoplifting intention and shoplifting behavior.

Background: Over the years, different explanations have been given for the difference between personality traits and situational factors regarding how they affect our behavior. The present study investigates the role of personality traits versus situational factors in aggressive behavior. Objective: The purpose of this research was to examine whether situations in which participants are made to feel angry are more powerful than personality traits in determining aggressive behavior. Methods: Forty-eight women students from Qatar University (M= 21.73, SD=4.43) completed the 200-item ZKA Personality Questionnaire, which measures aggressiveness, neuroticism, activity, extraversion and sensation-seeking, and the 7-item trait anger scale from the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ). Following an experimental situation that triggered anger by an interpersonal insult, the participants were randomly assigned to an anger-induced group (experimental condition) or a nonanger-induced group (control condition). Afterwards, the participants completed the hot sauce paradigm to assess aggressive behavior. Results: The results showed a significant difference between the anger and nonanger groups regarding aggressive behavior. However, no significant correlation was found between any facets of the personality questionnaire or the trait anger scale and aggressive behavior. Conclusion: Situational influence is more powerful than personality traits and trait anger in determining aggressive behavior. These findings are discussed based on the debate addressing the influence of situational or person-specific traits in determining actual behavior.

Scientific understanding of the neuroendocrine foundations of human social behavior has grown substantially in recent decades. Methodological advances now allow for empirical research on neuroendocrine contributors to both stable differences between individuals (e.g., personality traits) and fluctuations within individuals (e.g., situational influences) in how social relationships are formed and maintained. This chapter will provide an overview of recent research documenting the role of (1) oxytocin and vasopressin; (2) estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone; and (3) cortisol on romantic, parental, and friendship relationships in humans.

The article focuses on the competence approach in education, analyzes foreign and domestic psychological and pedagogical research on this issue and gives a detailed analysis of the interpretation of the concepts "competency", "competence" of foreign and domestic scientists. The author suggests his own interpretation of the basic concepts of the competence approach. The American approach to the defi nition of "competency" aims at solving the problem of what personal traits of the individual determine the successful action while the English one aims at studying on the characteristics of activities and their implementation. According to the author, both approaches represent separate sides of the considered concept. Successful activity is determined not only by personality traits of the individual but the ability to update knowledge and skills and choose the right ways of behavior and activity for each specifi c situation. Study on the characteristics of activities and their implementation without regard to the individual that carries it and specifi c conditions for the implementation doesn�t reveal the concept of "competency". The article emphasizes that the activity approach is predominated in Russian psycho-pedagogical studies that determine the nature of competency / competence.
