In this 20th century era, the business environment is more demanding that a business organization not only have a profit orientation. However, aspects of the impact on the environment and surrounding communities must also receive adequate attention in line with the increasing quantity and quality of business organizations. The concept of sustainable development is proposed to be a concept that tries to provide a balanced effect between financial performance factors, community welfare factors and environmental sustainability factors. In balancing the three factors above, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities of business organizations are expected to be the answer to the stigma that business organizations are only looking for profit. This paper will describe several hypotheses as well as a conceptual framework of factors originating from internal business organizations that have an impact on the performance of CSR activities. There are four factors that are proposed to be a hypothesis from the internal organization that must be fulfilled so that CSR activities show their performance. The four factors are fulfilment of human resources, fulfilment of the business organization's strategic vision, fulfilment of operating system implementation, and fulfilment of the business organization's financial capability.

This chapter analyzes the academic debate regarding the need to adopt a long-term vision of CSR strategies. It's based on the premise that short run is the dominant approach in financial markets, and this situation could be negatively conditioning the long-term sustainability value creation. New social values may be requesting different management decisions from companies, prioritizing long-term over short term results. A thorough literature review has been done across specialized journals, international reports, and key legislation, trying to determine and model the elements facilitating this sustainable value creation. It shows the alignment needed between CEO and their shareholders within the framework of corporate governance to create long-term value within CSR. There are signs of a possible financial over-performance of companies that strategically create a shared value with stakeholders based on environmental, social, and governance objectives, selected due to their materiality. A model is proposed to consider a long-term approach creating sustainable value in organizations.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a management concept where by the companies integrates social and environmental concerns in their business needs, operations and interactions with their stakeholders. Corporate social responsibility is important to both consumers and company’s .CSR is generally understood as being the way through which a company achieves a balance of economic, environmental and social imperatives, while at the same time it also helps in addressing the expectations of shareholders and stakeholders. A properly implemented CSR concept can bring along a various variety of competitive advantages, such as enhanced access to capital and markets, increased sales and profits, operational cost savings, improved productivity and quality, efficient human resource base, improved brand image and reputation, enhanced customer loyalty, better decision making and risk management processes. In this sense it is important to draw a distinction between CSR, which can be a strategic business management concept, and charity, sponsorships or philanthropy. Often, companies that adopt CSR programs have grown their business to the point where they can give back to society Even though the latter can also make a valuable contribution to poverty reduction, will directly enhance the reputation of a company and strengthen its brand, the concept of CSR clearly goes beyond that. It refers to practices and policies undertaken by corporations that are intended to have a positive influence on the world. CSR is generally understood as a strategic initiative that contributes to a brand's reputation. CSR is titled to aid an organization's mission as well as serve as a guide to what the company represents for its consumers. Business ethics is the part of applied ethics that examines ethical principles, moral and ethical problems that can arise in a business environment. Organizations in India have been quite sensible in adopting CSR initiatives and integrating them into their business processes. It has become progressively projected in the Indian corporate setting because the organizations have recognized that besides growing their businesses, it is also important to shape responsible, valuable and supportable relationships with the community at large.

An organization has to show transparency and correctness, in our time is not enough to perform only a high quality product, moreover, organization must prove it is also a good corporative “citizen”. There is no doubt that many of the actions of some major corporations have shown the worst side of commercial operation, whether this has been in the form of social or environmental operation or through manipulation conducting to major financial catastrophes that have harmed a lot at all levels of society. For this reason, there has been a growth in support for NGOs that have set their sights on raising awareness and stopping exploitation of any natural resources, using any and all means to further their special cause irrespective of the impacts on others in society, even the business community.

The business of business during the twentieth century was considered to be only earning and delivering profits to the shareholders. But, the twenty-first century challenges this approach and offers a different business environment characterized by fast digitization, faster disruptive innovations, and fastest shifting consumer expectations. The business community has to awake to the reality and find ways to create sustainability to their businesses by leveraging the networks, capital, people, and technology to create a win-win situation with the social environment. In this process, the scope of corporate social responsibility has become narrow and the trust on corporates in the society has been declining. Hence businesses need to go beyond by defining a social mission to integrate deeply with society and create trust. The economic view of the business is transforming into a wider social view, forcing businesses towards social integration to create shared value.

Industries have to rethink their value creation processes in a sustainable perspective. In order to satisfy their stakeholders and pursue the well-being of society in the long term, manufacturers must operate under corporate social responsibility (CSR). Embodying the identity of multiple stakeholders, consumers are the key to ensuring the success of sustainability efforts. This chapter analyses the relevance of CSR from the perspective of consumer perception, which has been neglected thus far in literature. The chapter also embraces the idea that CSR and sustainable consumption are two sides of the same coin that need to be integrated in order to create sustainable industrial value. After the theoretical background, this work presents and discusses the results of an empirical research focused on an emblematic industry and brand. The findings support the idea that although a company is trying to seize Industry 4.0. opportunities for sustainability, its efforts can be partly hampered by consumers' lack of perception or their misperception.
