This design and development research aimed at designing and developing a culture-based English e-media to support the implementation of curriculum 2013 for the first semester of grade VII of junior high schools in Buleleng sub-district. This research focused on developing e-media that is integrated with Balinese culture. The object of this research was culture- based English e-media that was developed by using Adobe Flash CS6 program. The source of data was taken from the need analysis conducted by Dewi and Batan (2015), related literatures on developing the e-media, and the result of expert judgement. The data were analysed descriptively both qualitatively and quantitatively. This research was designed based on the adaptation of puffers et al.’s model (2007) that consisted of six phases namely: (1) identifying the problem, (2) describing the objective, (3) designing and developing the product, (4) testing the product by using expert judgement, (5) evaluating the testing result, and (6) communicating the testing result. The result of experts’ judgement score showed that the total mean score 3.8 which means the e-media had a good quality and it can be used in teaching and learning English for the first semester of grade VII of junior high schools in Buleleng.

This research aimed at developing culture based English learning material to support the implementation of curriculum 2013 for the first semester of grade seven junior high schools in Buleleng. This research was designed by utilizing an RnD model development proposed by Peffers et al in Ellis and Levy (2010). t. In order to reach the high qualified product, there were two experts evaluated the content of product, integration of local culture, and presentation of culture based English learning material in the form of English judgment form. All data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The result of this research was designed in the form of culture based English textbook to support the implementation of curriculum 2013 for the first semester of grade seven junior high schools in Buleleng. This textbook consisted of 4 topics. The material was designed carefully depends on Balinese culture context. The context of Balinese culture were integrated into pictures, dialogues, and learning activities. Culture based English textbook were also designed to meet the characteristic of good textbook by Tomlinson (1998). Generally, the two experts stated that the product were already interesting and appropriate with characteristic of good textbook.

The creation of interactive learning activities can be influenced by the availability of media and learning resources as a useful tool in teaching and learning activities. The effectiveness of students' absorption of difficult and complicated learning materials can be achieved with the help of the demonstration tool as a media. The purpose of this research is to produce an earthquake demonstration tool, as a valid learning media for use in the learning process of physics in junior high schools. This development research uses the R & D method which was adapted from Nieveen & Folmer with three-phase, namely: preliminary research, development or prototyping phase, and the formative evaluation within the development stage. The evaluation of the validation of the media uses the instrument of validation of the earthquake demonstration tool with 5 indicators and the assessment of validation of the guidebook with 4 indicators. The results of the design of the media obtained the validation score for the earthquake demonstration tool with a score of 4.5 where a very valid category and the handbook obtained a validation score of 4.4 with a very valid category. Based on the results of this research, an earthquake demonstration tool had been successfully made and a guidebook for its use as a physics science learning media is valid and suitable for use in junior high schools.

This study aims to determine whether or not there is a Contextual Learning Model (CTL) on the Communication Capabilities of Mathematics Students at 35 State Junior High Schools in Palembang. The population in this study were grade VII students of SMP Negeri 35 Palembang. Sampling in the study used Clauster Sampling and the selected class was Class VII.5, taken 30 people as the control class and Class VIII.3, up 30 people as the experimental class at SMP 35 Palembang. This research uses the True Experimental Desigh method in the form of Posttest Only Control Design. Data collection was carried out using the written test method in the form of an interesting essay on mathematical communication indicators, data analysis was performed with a statistical test t with a real level (∝) = 5%. Based on the results of the final analysis in this study, tcount = 2.729> ttable (0.05: 58) = 2.002 so that H0 is rejected, it can be concluded as a Contextual Teaching and Learning Model (CTL) Against the Mathematical Communication Capabilities of 35 State Junior High School Students in Palembang.

The purpose of the study is to find out the opinions of head teachers and students on classroom factors that affect performance of students in integrated science at the Junior High Schools in Kumasi Metropolis. The study used a descriptive survey. The sampling procedure employed for the study was both random and purposive sampling. A sample of two hundred and twenty (220) subjects participated in the study. The instruments that were used in the study were questionnaire and interview schedule. It was found out that most of the students in the public schools have greater access to integrated science text books as against their private school counterparts. Supervision is regularly carried out in the private schools by the head teachers but not much can be seen at the public schools and this has the tendency of improving teaching and learning of science at the private school. It was recommended that effective supervision must be performed regularly by heads of schools during integrated science lessons.

The present study aims to identify teachers' perceptions of mobile devices use in Arabic learning at junior high schools. Employed a qualitative method with a case study, 24 Arabic language teachers from various junior high schools in the South Tangerang City involved in this study selected by using a random sampling method. Based on the teacher perspectives, the results of the study reveal that the use of mobile devices facilitates students in understanding Arabic lessons and increase their motivation for learning. Time limitations and large classroom sizes were obstacles that decrease teachers’ interest to integrate mobile devices into classroom activities. Reading is by far the main language skill taught by teachers and there is a less focus on productive skills such as speaking and writing. The students have less attention and motivation for learning Arabic while the teachers have attempted to deal with this problem by several measures. The characteristic of Arabic language differs from each context. However, whether for inside or outside classroom activities, active methods are of particular importance for Arabic learning. Arabic teaching and learning practices facilitated by mobile devices require careful planning for a successful implementation lead to more active and effective learning of Arabic.

This study aimed to improve students’ mathematics understanding through Problem-Based Learning. The subjects were Year 8 students in one of the junior high schools in Sigli, Indonesia. The main instrument used in this study was a mathematical understanding test, while the supporting instrument was the observation sheets of student and teacher activities. The data were analyzed qualitatively and described descriptively. The results showed that students' mathematics understanding reached the classical mastery learning of 62.50% and 75.00% for the cycle I and II, respectively. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the ability of mathematics understanding enhanced through the Problem-Based and Learning model.   Keywords: Problem-Based Learning, Mathematics Understanding, Junior High Schools.
