The application of bioactive substances in a minimum dose is an alternative to reduce the application of harmful agrochemicals in agriculture, particularly vegetables. The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of four homeopathic medicines during germination, emergence, and vegetative development of cucumber plants (Cucumis sativus L.). The experimental design included two centesimal homeopathic dynamizations (7CH and 13CH) of Silicea terra (SiT), Natrum muriaticum (NaM), Magnesia phosphorica (MaP), and Arsenicum album (ArA) and a control (water) treatment. A completely randomized 2 × 4 + 1 block design was used in three repetitions. The variables evaluated were rate and percentages of germination and emergence, stem and radicle length, and fresh and dry weight of the aerial part and radicle. Additionally, during the vegetative development the diameter of the stem and the number of leaves and flowers were evaluated. With ArA-13CH, significant differences in germination were observed (53.33%) and with NaM-13CH longer stem length (107.07 cm) during vegetative development, compared to the control group (78.63 cm). Radicle length showed significant differences with the application of SiT-7CH (49.59 cm) compared to the control group (28.6 cm). During germination the best result in the radicle fresh and dry weight was recorded when applying ArA-13CH. In emergence, the greatest fresh radicle weight was obtained with MaP-13CH, and the largest stem diameter, number of leaves and number of flowers were obtained with NaM. The results obtained confirmed that the evaluated homeopathic medicines positively affected the initial stage and vegetative development of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) under controlled conditions. This research represents an advance in agricultural homeopathy for the sustainable management of vegetable cultivation.

The production of the turnip (Brassica napus L.) in Ecuador, depends largely on the use of agrochemicals, whose indiscriminate use causes negative effects on the environment. Agricultural homeopathy has emerged as an ecological alternative to improve the health status of plants. In order to help improve the sustainable production of vegetables, the effect of two centesimal dynamics (7CH and 31CH) of three homeopathic medicines for human use was evaluated: Silicea terra (SiT), Natrum muriaticum (NaM) and Phosphoricum acidum (PhA ), on the germination, emergence and vegetative development of B. napus plants, applying a completely randomized 2×3+1 block design with three repetitions for the three stages of the crop. The variables evaluated during germination and emergence were: percentage of germination and emergence, length of stem and radicle, fresh weight of the aerial part and radicle, dry weight of the aerial part and radicle. The variables evaluated during vegetative development were: plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, weight, leaf area and productive yield. Signif icant differences were recorded in all the variables and stages of development studied. The highest germination values corresponded to SiT-7CH and PhA-7CH (100%), surpassing the control group (83.5%). The PhA-7CH and NaM-31CH treatments stimulated stem growth in the germination stage (3.40 cm) and NaM-7CH root growth (4.07 cm) in the emergence stage. During the vegetative development, the plants with the highest production were those treated with NaM-7CH. The highest prof itability of the crop (71.33%), with a benef it / cost ratio of 1.7% was obtained with SiT-7CH. The results obtained suggest that agricultural homeopathy has potential in horticulture, since all treatments favorably influenced the response variables during germination, emergence and vegetative development of (Brassica napus L.).

Agrochemical use in horticultural cultivations generates negative effects, thus the need for searching to decrease or eliminate its use by means of other less toxic techniques. Agricultural homeopathy represents an alternative for ecological agriculture, impacting positively in cultivation development. The effect of four homeopathic medicines for human use were assessed in two centesimal dynamizations (7CH and 13CH) [(Silicea Terra (SiT), Natrum muriaticum (NaM), Zincum phosphoricum (ZiP) and Phosphoricum acidum (PhA)], and a control treatment (distilled water) on tomato plant germination, emergence, and initial development. The treatments were established under a randomized complete block design with three repiclates. Germination and emergence rate and percentage and morphometric variables (plant height, radicle length, dry and wet weight) were assessed, including the variables in stem diameter and wet and dry leaf weight, number of branches, leaves, and buds in the vegetative development stage. Signif icant differences were observed in all the morphometric variables assessed in function of the different development stages, homeopathic medicines, and their different dynamizations. During germination, greater growth in stem length was observed with ZiP-7CH (5.5 ± 0.98 cm) compared to the control group (4.3 ± 1.10 cm). During the emergence stage, the treatments SiT-7CH (6.6 ± 1.11 cm) and ZiP-7CH (5.9 ± 1.41 cm) increased stem length signif icantly whereas with PhA-7CH, the best effects were obtained in the variables assessed during the vegetative development stage, LT (94 ± 8.31 cm), leaf number (No hojas) (131 ± 27.71), fresh stem biomass (BFT) (17.20 ± 2.45 g), wet leaf biomass (BFH) (30 ± 7.72 g), dry leaf biomass (BSH) (2 ± 0.61 g), fresh root biomass (BFR) (10 ± 6.26 g), dry root biomass (BSR) (1 ± 0.43 g), and number of flower buds (No H) (6 ± 7.10). The homeopathic medicines applied impacted positively during the initial and vegetative development stages of tomato under controlled conditions. This research study represents and advance in the sustainable management of tomato cultivation.

Leachate water is liquid waste that can arise due to the entry of water in landfills and can dissolve dissolved chemical elements such as organic matter resulting from decomposition. Slurry that has been lost gas is waste from biogas and is rich in nutrients needed in plants, but so far liquid leachate fertilizer and biogas waste have not been utilized properly. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of leachate, bio slurry, and mixture on cucumber plant growth (Cucumis sativus L), and the best influence between leachate, bio slurry and a mixture of both. This study used an experimental method with randomized block design (RBD) with 9 treatments and 4x replications. The results of the study of Leachate Water, Bio slurry, and Mixture affected, plant length, on plant height, number of leaves, number of flowers, dry weight and plant wet weight. All treatments had an effect on the observed parameters at a concentration of 15 ml, 30 ml, or 45 ml, especially in observing wet weight and dry weight of plants. The treatment of leachate showed a significant difference in the wet weight concentration of 30 ml and dry weight concentration of 30 ml.Keywords: Leachate, Bio slurry, Cucumis sativus L ABSTRAKAir lindi adalah limbah cair dapat timbul karena masuknya air pada timbunan sampah dan bersifat dapat  melarutkan unsur kimiawi yang terlarut antara lain materi organik hasil dari dekomposisi. Kotoran ternak (slurry) yang sudah hilang gasnya merupakan limbah dari biogas  dan kaya dengan nutrisi yang di butuhkan pada  tanaman, namun selama ini pupuk cair air lindi dan limbah biogas belum dimanfaatkan dengan baik. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui pengaruh air lindi, bio slurry, dan Campuran terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman mentimun (Cucumis sativus L), dan pengaruh yang terbaik antara air lindi, bio slurry dan campuran keduanya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) dengan 9 perlakuan dan 4x ulangan. Hasil penelitian Pemberian Air lindi, Bio slurry, dan Campuran berpengaruh , panjang tanaman, terhadap pada tinggi tanaman, jumlah pada daun, jumlah bunga, berat kering dan berat basah tanaman, Semua perlakuan memberikan pengaruh pada parameter yang di amati baik pada konsentrasi 15 ml, 30 ml, ataupun 45 ml, khususnya pada pengamatan berat basah dan berat kering tanaman. Pada perlakuan Air lindi menunjukkan beda nyata yang signifikan yaitu pada berat basah konsentrasi  30 ml dan berat kering konsentrasi 30 ml.  Kata kunci: Air lindi,Bio slurry,Cucumis sativus L

The objective was to evaluate the effects of nitrogen and potassium applied through fertigation and through conventional way on the productivity of grafted and non-grafted cucumber.                 The experimental design was a randomized block design with six treatments and four replications. Measurements included plant height, number of leaves, production, fruit number, fruit weight, and fruit number per plant.                 The grafted cucumber plants presented higher values for plant height, number of leaves, production, fruit number, fruit weight and fruit number per plant. This study aims to determine the effect of fertilizing nutrients that can increase the growth and yield of cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) with hydroponic techniques. The research was conducted at the screen house of the Biotechnology Lab Research and Development Division of PT East West Seed Indonesia, in Benteng Village, Campaka District, Purwakarta Regency. This research was conducted in December 2017 until March 2018. This study used a randomized block design (RBD) with 9 replications. Planting factor is a nutrient solution consisting of N1 enza nutrition, N2 alfesindo nutrition, and N3 ewindo nutrition. Parameters observed were plant height, plant dry weight, fruit length, fruit diameter, number of planted fruit and crop fruit weight. The media used in this study was roasted husk charcoal. The results showed that the response of nutrient solutions was significantly different from observations of plant height, whereas the response of nutrient solutions to observations of dry weight, fruit length, fruit diameter, number of fruit plantations and fruit weight of plantations were not significantly different. The results showed that the best nutritional solution was ewindo nutritional solution.

Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) is a plant of great importance for food, agriculture, economy and medicine. This importance explains its high demand, intensified by its cultivation conditions, particularly the growing rarity of fertile land and available water. To contribute to this species yield optimization, the effects of fertilizers type [chemical: NPK (12-22-22) and organic: Agribionate] and a control (C) combined to two watering modes (traditional sprinkler and bottle drip) on plants growth and yield have been studied from sowing to harvest. Plant growth (stem length and diameter at the collar, number of leaves and flowers per plant, leaf area) and yield (fruit weight, diameter and length, yield) were assessed. ANOVA2 tests revealed that fertilization (NPK and agribionate) favored plant growth (respectively 34.20 and 37.32 cm in height against 6.67 cm) and increased yield (7498, 66 and 6600.46 Kg/ha against 1558 Kg/ha) with the largest and heaviest fruits (145.69 and 142.80 g) compared to the control (C) that produced the smallest ones (59.35 g). About watering, the bottle drip mode was more beneficial than traditional sprinkler one for cucumber organ growth and plant yield. The interaction (fertilizer type × watering mode) indicated that the best results were obtained with the Agribionate fertilizer watered with the bottle drip method.

The study aimed to determine the effect of NPK Pelangi fertilizer on the growth and yield of cucumber and its optimum dosage. This study uses a Randomized Block Design (RBD). The treatments are Po: Rainbow NPK Fertilizer 0 kg ha-1 (control); P1: NPK Pelangi Fertilizer 300 kg ha-1 = 150 gr plot-1; P2: Rainbow NPK fertilizer 600 kg ha-1 = 300 gr plot-1; P3: Rainbow NPK Fertilizer 900 kg ha-1 = 450 gr plot-1; P4: Rainbow NPK Fertilizer 1200 kg ha-1 = 600 gr plot-1. The results showed that NPK Pelangi fertilizer had a very significant effect on leaf average (11.89%), leaf area-1 (12.85%), number of fruit tan-1 (26.37%), fruit length tan-1 (4 , 42%), diameter of fruit tan-1 (8.77%), weight of fruit tan-1 (30.33%), weight of fruit ha-1 (30.33%). The optimum dose of NPK Pelangi fertilizer is 1,200 kg ha-1 because it provides optimal growth and yield on the number of leaves (15,13 strands) of leaf area-1 (420.69 cm²), number of fruit tan-1 (7.13 pieces), length of fruit tan-1 (17.21 cm), diameter of tan-1 fruit (15.13 mm), weight of fruit tan-1 (2492.75 grams), weight of fruit ha-1 (99.71 tons).

Low-temperature storage is a technique to hold seedlings for a short period of time to adjust the production schedule of young seedlings. Labor-intensive grafting propagation can potentially benefit from the effective use of this technique to minimize peak labor inputs. Watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) seedlings are generally chilling sensitive and therefore difficult to store at low temperatures. However, the rootstocks used for watermelon grafting, interspecific squash (Cucurbita maxima × Cucurbita moschata) and bottle gourd (Lagenaria siceraria) are known to be chilling tolerant. To examine the influence of rootstocks on storability of watermelon seedlings, young seedlings of ‘Tri-X-313’ seedless watermelon grafted onto ‘Strong Tosa’ interspecific squash, ‘Emphasis’ bottle gourd, and ‘Tri-X-313’ watermelon as rootstock were placed for 2 or 4 weeks under 12 °C air temperature and 12 μmol·m−2·s−1 photosynthetic photon flux (PPF). Nongrafted watermelon seedlings were also treated in these same conditions. In addition, nonstored (grafted and nongrafted) seedlings were prepared for comparison. Regardless of seedling type (nongrafted or grafted with different rootstocks), all seedlings stored for 2 weeks had lower dry weight, comparable or greater number of leaves and stem length, when compared with their respective nonstored control groups after 2 weeks in the greenhouse. Seedlings stored for 4 weeks had lower number of leaves and stem length after 2 weeks in the greenhouse, except for those grafted onto the interspecific squash rootstock. Nongrafted and grafted watermelon seedlings with the same watermelon cultivar as rootstock showed significantly lower leaf net photosynthetic rates after 2 weeks in the greenhouse after the 2-week storage than those of nonstored control groups. In contrast, when grafted onto interspecific squash and bottle gourd rootstocks, seedlings showed comparable net photosynthetic rate to the control group. For all seedling types, 20% to 35% of seedlings died during 4-week storage or poststorage in the greenhouse, whereas all seedlings survived for the 2-week storage, except when grafted onto watermelon as rootstock. Therefore, chilling-tolerant rootstocks ‘Strong Tosa’ interspecific squash and ‘Emphasis’ bottle gourd improved storability of grafted ‘Tri-X-313’ watermelon seedlings but could not extend the storability beyond 2 weeks.

An experiment on stimulation of rooting of six Bougainvillea species using three different rooting hormones was conducted in the nursery, department of crop soil and pest management of the Federal University of Technology Akure, March to June, 2013. The experiment was laid out in Completely Block Design (CRD) and replicated three times. Data were collected on number of days to sprouting, plant height, stem girth, stem length, wet root weight, dry root weight, the number of leaves per cutting and length of longest roots and subjected to Analysis of variance (ANOVA) to determine the level of significance and Tukey Test was used to separate the means. The results showed that the Indole -3-butyric acid and the coconut water had significant effect on the root emergence and root growth of Bougainvillea species compared to the other hormones used and the hard wood cuttings enhanced the rooting of the Bougainvillea compared to the semi –hard wood. Therefore root initiation in cuttings of Boungainvillea could be enhanced with Indole -3-butyric acid (IBA) or dipped in coconut water for 5 minutes and growth was also enhanced using the hard wood cuttings.

Field trial was carried out during the 2019 rainy season (June to October) at the Dryland Teaching and Research Farm of the Faculty of Agriculture, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto to determine the growth and yield of sorghum varieties in the study area. The treatments consisted of five (5) sorghum varieties (Samsorg 45, Samsorg 46, Janjari, Yartawa and Jardawa), the treatments were laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) replicated three (3) times. Data were collected on the growth and yield of the crop. Janjari and Jardawa varieties were higher in plant height. Jardawa and Yartawa varieties were higher in number of leaves. Janjari and Yartawa varieties were higher in total dry weight. Janjari, Jardawa and Yartawa varieties were higher in harvest index. Yartawa variety was higher in leaf area, leaf area index and 1000-grain weight. Jardawa variety was higher in panicle length. Janjari variety was early in number of days to heading, flowering, and maturity and was higher in dry stalk weight. The grain yield (249 – 1506kg ha-1 ) was higher in Janjari and Yartawa varieties (1268 – 1506 kg ha-1). Based on the findings of this research, it could be concluded that Janjari and Yartawa varieties performed better than other varieties in the study area.
