Due to business innovation and IT, information systems (IS) are made up of distributed autonomous subsystems running on heterogeneous IT platforms. These subsystems implement differently same business objects and processes. Thus pieces of data and processes are overlapping and replicated. Moreover, informational and computational resources are locked i.e. they do exist, but they are not accessible. This paper specifies an interaction-dedicated subsystem of the IS called interaction support system (ISS). It is a support for interactions. It aims to: (1) provide subsystems of IS with a unified and consistent representation of business objects, (2) coordinate processes, and (3) lock data and processes. An implementation of a web-based business object-oriented ISS, a specialization of the ISS, is made up of four elements: 1) browser used by subsystems to browse and query business objects over the Internet/Intranet, 2) a web server on which run the logic of the ISS, 3) a metadata representing distribution of business objects and processes, and 4) business objects implementations over the subsystems willing to interact.

This chapter presents a modeling for the Web-Based Cooperative Information Systems (WBCISs). This modeling considers the WBCISs as support of the unavoidable interactions among multiple existing heterogeneous subsystems of the information system and external information sources that share business objects and processes. The WBCIS is considered as an artifact that firstly and mainly allow information exchange, coordination and cooperation among these sources; and secondly data restructing and processes reuse or reengineering. The main concepts are Knowledge Sources and Interaction Component. A knowledge source represents a subsystem of the information system (Personal IS, Workgroup IS or Enterprise IS); or any external information source. The modeling considers the knowledge source as a UML package that presents an interface definition (business objects schema and processes). An interactions component is a kind of Web-based broker of business objects and processes. It is a support for communication services and user-oriented semantic services of the knowledge sources. It is based on the Web so that it deals with semi-structured data and accesses any knowledge source (willing to interact) having its URL. It uses a metadata that describes the knowledge sources as UML package. The modeling specializes interactions components according to the interaction situations of the knowledge source namely interactions for coordination that deal with the consistency of the shared business objects, interactions for cooperation related to the coupled processes’ activities or interactions for transmission that deal with informal and unstructured information exchanges. A Coordination Component allows knowledge source location, access, integration, global view and restructing of the business objects. A Cooperation Component allows process’ activities invocation, reuse or reengineering activities. This methodologic specialization allows easier implementation and reuse of the interaction components. An interaction component is modeled as a UML package.

One of the major problems in Multiple Listing Service Systems is to find what you want. Number of real estate alternatives on the Internet is thousands. How can customers find the rational alternative on the Internet? Once real estate is found, the customer usually wants to compare alternatives. There are five types of aids to comparison shopping: search on hypertext files by agents, search alternatives on databases, alternative search and tabular comparison, comparison of alternative products and services from multiple malls, search and multiple criteria decision‐making. Therefore, the efficiency of Multiple Listing Service Systems may be increased by applying multiple criteria decision support systems developed by authors. The authors have developed Web‐based Decision Support System for Real Estate (DSS‐RE). Proposed DSS‐RE can create value in next important ways: help customers assess their needs, identify suitable real estate to fulfil needs, compare and evaluate real estate, help customers evaluate the usefulness of the real estate in the after‐purchase evaluation stage, etc.

The information system is a system within an organization that meets the needs of data management, support the operation, managerial and strategic activities of an organization or agency and provide reports for a particular party to utilize the computer as a means to access the Internet network. To be able to manage data in the form of a database, it is necessary to develop a web-based information system. For that we need an information system that can facilitate the running of a sales transaction and as a promotional event, so that it is expected to increase sales at the company and compete with other companies. Public relations can be defined relations among the public, showed large public who must perform the connection, and because the public a lot, then indicate the number of relationships. PT. Starvindo Asia Utama only uses brochures as a promotional tool. The purpose of making this web program is to facilitate service sales transactions so that it is more economical, fast and easy without the need to be hindered by distance and time.

This chapter examines the theoretical underpinning for supporting executive intelligence activities and reviews conventional studies of executive information systems (EIS) over the last two decades in responding to the current executives’ information processing needs and the current Internet era. The reviews suggest the need for designing advanced EIS that are capable of responding and adapting to executive information. This chapter recognizes the necessity of revitalizing EIS with advances in intelligent technologies and Web-based technologies. Empirical studies were conducted to elucidate executives’ desires and perceptions of the prospect of agent-based technologies for supporting executive intelligence activities in the more integrated and distributed environment of the Internet. Based on the insights gained from empirical studies, this chapter concludes by presenting a three-level agent-based EIS design model that comprises a “usability-adaptability-intelligence” trichotomy for supporting executive intelligence activities.

The Internet and World Wide Web (WWW) are now evolving as an important communication technology and a major information resource provider for industry. This paper discusses the development and implementation of a knowledge-based gear design and manufacturing system over the Internet to create new integrated design and manufacturing environments. By providing access to an interactive web-based support system, any designer with a WWW browser becomes a potential user of this on-line design system. Once connected, the designer follows the system instructions and submits the necessary input data on the appropriate web pages. The server receives a request from a client and invokes a CGI (Common Gateway Interface) program that processes the information provided through the user Interface. The CGI parses the data and has the ability to remotely run the knowledge-based gear design system that integrates knowledge about all aspects of gear design and manufacturing and provides powerful reasoning and decision-making capabilities for reducing the time between gear tooth creation, detailed design and manufacturing process specification via the Internet. When the execution is completed, full specifications definition, geometry, kinematic-loads and stresses are determined through Finite Element Analysis (FEA) within ANSYS, VRML models of the gear pair and gearbox assembly including gears, shafts, bearings and housing are exported according to the designer requests and sent back to designer on the web browser. To accomplish this, a combination of HTML, JavaScript, VRML, CGI Script and C++ is used. Finally, an example on spur gear design utilizing a parallel gearbox design model configuration is discussed.

Web servers and web-based applications are now widely used, but in this case, the crime rate in cyberspace has also increased. Crime in cyberspace can occur due to the exploitation of how a system works. For example, the way HTTP works are exploited to weaken the webserver. Various tools for attacking the internet are also starting to be easy to find, but so are the tools to detect these attacks. One of the useful tools for detecting attacks and sending warnings against threats is based on the weblogs on the webserver. Many have not reviewed Teler as an intrusion detection system on HTTP on web servers because the existing tools are relatively new. Teler detecting the weblog and run on the terminal with rule resources collected from the community. So here, the researcher tries to implement the use of Teler in detecting HTTP intrusions on a Nginx-based web server. Intrusion is carried out in attacks commonly used by attackers, for example, port scanning and directory brute force using the Nmap and OWASP ZAP tools. Then the detection results will be sent via the Telegram bot to the server admin. From the results of the experiments conducted, it has been found that Teler is still classified as being able to send warning notifications with a delay between the time of detection and the time when the alert is received, no more than 3 seconds.
