Indonesia's regional economy that is proxy by using Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) per capita to form clusters is investigated. Besides, by using the Spatial Auto-regression (SAR) model, the effect of household consumption in a region to the surrounding area's economy is examined. The study on this topic is rather limited, especially in the regional economic development of the country. Furthermore, Indonesia is a heterogeneous country, and its consequence is that development policy should consider the geographic characteristics of the country. The results show that there are regional economy clusters in Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and Sumatra. In contrast, household consumption in a region has a weak influence on the economy in the surrounding area.

Urban rail transit plays a role of activating and leading regional economic development. It influences the spatial distribution of urban agglomeration and the progress of regional economic integration. It is a kind of virtuously cycled interactive relationship between regional economic development and regional rail transit. This paper analyzes the effect of urban rail transit construction project on regional economy based on the economic benefits arisen from it. The research results show that China’s urban rail transit construction and regional economy can not realize balanced development unless the fact that the relationship between urban rail transit planning and regional economic development can be well coordinated, and meanwhile, the construction scale and service level of different phases of rail transit can be confirmed according to urban economic development level.

Purpose This paper aims to figure out the relationship between energy consumption flow from a new perspective of embodied energy inventory index (EEII) and regional economic growth. Design/methodology/approach The input-output approach has been applied to calculate embodied energy inventory (EEI) and EEII using the data of 25 economies. Meanwhile, cluster analysis and panel data modeling were applied to carry out detailed research. Findings The results of cluster analysis show that there is a roughly negative relationship between EEII and gross domestic product (GDP) per capita, although there are some exceptions, such as Russia and Taiwan (Province of China). Panel data model results provide further evidence that there is a negative relationship between EEII and GDP per capita. Population is an important productive factor in the regional economic development. The study showed a positive relationship between EEII and population. Therefore, energy consumption flow is closely related to regional economic development. Originality/value The value of this paper is to use EEI and EEII to comprehensively clarify the energy consumption flow. The advantage of EEII is that it can reflect the energy embodied in fixed assets and infrastructure.

Taking Wuhu City of Anhui Province as an example, this paper constructs two evaluation index systems of tourism industry and regional economic development respectively, and studies the coupling coordination situation and influencing factors of Wuhu City from 2015 to 2019 by using the coupling coordination degree model. The research shows that the comprehensive development level of Wuhu tourism industry and regional economy system has been steadily improved year by year in the past five years. Coupling degree C showed an up-down trend, but was generally at a high level. The comprehensive development level T of the two systems is also in an increasing trend. By 2019, the coupling coordination degree of the tourism-industry system in Wuhu has been upgraded from good coordination to high quality coordination. In the future development process, Wuhu City should continue to promote GDP growth on the basis of the current good development situation, and realize the win-win situation between tourism and regional economic development.
