The objective of this research was to investigate the students’ difficulties in writing descriptive text, the most dominant difficulty faced by the students, and the students’ strategies to overcome these difficulties. This study was conducted at the Seventh Grade of SMP Sint Carolus Bengkulu. This is a descriptive quantitative study. The instruments used in this research were questionnaire and interview. Based on the results, it was found that students experienced difficulties in the three aspects of the study, namely linguistic, psychological, and cognitive difficulties. In each of these aspects, organization is the highest one followed by behaviour, feedback, grammatical items, and vocabulary. In organizations, difficulties in developing ideas are the most difficult. Anxiety is the highest difficulty in behaviour, while the lack of practice is the most difficulty in the feedback. The difficulty in using connectors is the highest point in the grammatical items, and the lack of vocabulary is the most difficulty in the vocabulary. Based on the questionnaire and interview results, organization was the most difficult aspect in writing descriptive text. To overcome the difficulties, the students choose to master vocabulary and learning from other sources such as books or the internet while the others like to read from dictionary. Finally, it is also suggested for other researchers to carry out similar research in a broader scope, as well as a description, especially about the mechanic that get negative results.

This paper investigates the factors that influence how members of the Brazilian House of Representatives adopt Twitter as part of their political communication strategy. Our intention is to understand the main variables that lead legislators to invest time and resources in microblogging. This quantitative study examined all of the 457 official congressional accounts registered on Twitter. These accounts were monitored weekly between February 2012 and February 2013. After empirically exploring the data, this work reflects on the results thanks in part to an examination of the literature on the intersection of the Internet and politics. The results indicate correlations between the use of Twitter and attributes like age and occupation of leadership positions.

The internet meme is a recent phenomenon in the mass media industry, but its etymological route can be traced back over 4 decades, when evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins decided to coin a “monosyllable that sounds a bit like ‘gene’”. Memes carry the prolific characteristics of a parasite, and can be as common as a catchphrase. This aspect of memes has revolutionized the way content is consumed on digital platforms, and therefore the advertising of content on such platforms This research examined how recognizability, humour and shareability each impact meme virality. This research found positive correlations between recognizability and virality, humour and virality; and shareability and virality.

The 4.0 industrial revolution in business changed the way of working, including changes in the work patterns of employees, who had to work at office to work at home using the internet, called as telecommuting employees. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of financial compensation and flexibility of working hours provided by e-commerce companies on the performance of their telecommuters. In this quantitative study, it was released that the financial compensation variable based on the T test had a coefficient of 0.126 and Sig. 0.195, which means there is no influence between financial compensation and telecommuting employee performance. As for the second independent variable, the flexibility of working hours based on the T test has a coefficient of 0.607 with Sig. 0,000, which means that employee flexibility is very influential in employee performance.

For most students, chemistry is recognized as a subject of difficult understanding, that does not arouse interest on the assimilation of the contents, which has been causing negative results regarding failure and abandonment by a large number of students enrolled in public schools of Maranhão State. Thus, this paper presents chemistry in a different way: applied, contextualized, worked by the student through simple experiments, fast, and recorded on video for future posts on the internet or for presentation in classrooms to other students in the grade. Keywords: Chemistry. Health-related web content is constantly increasing, and cancer survivors use it to manage their health and activities of daily living. However, the actual usage of and satisfaction with web contents among cancer survivors is unclear. Therefore, we conducted a web-based cross-sectional survey to understand the satisfaction with web content in those cancer survivors who use the Internet to cope with their anxiety/stress, sleeplessness, or cognitive difficulties. The survey questionnaire was e-mailed to 1.2 million voluntary registrants at a research company. Cancer survivors who accessed any content via the Internet and experienced anxiety/stress, sleeplessness, or cognitive difficulties were included in the study. Out of the 412 survivors who completed the survey, 357 experienced some degree of anxiety or stress, 258 experienced sleeplessness, and 161 experienced some cognitive difficulties, such as forgetfulness or lack of attention. They used web contents to record their health or (n = 205), relieve their anxiety or stress (n = 238), and devise activities of daily living (n = 232) during cancer therapy, including surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. The web contents included “interactive contents” (users engage with the web content by responding to it in some form), “non-interactive contents” (information medium without any user engagement), “web-storage,” or “scrolling.” Multivariate logistic regression revealed greater satisfaction with “interactive contents” in cancer survivors. This reflects that the sharing of personal experiences as well as objective information should be considered to create satisfying and effective web contents.

The last several years have seen an increase in the number of direct to consumer advertisements by pharmaceutical companies. Direct to Consumer advertisements (DTC) means targeting the end consumer through advertisements on television, radio, in newspapers, magazines, and the Internet. The qualitative study presents data and supports the need for a future quantitative study to ask physicians and consumers their opinions on whether pharmaceutical companies should be allowed to advertise directly to the end consumer. This article reviews the literature on this controversial topic, supporting the need to explore the reserach questions in greater detail. A review of the literature suggests there is financial motivation on the part of the pharmaceutical companies to increase their sales by advertsing directly to the end consumer as opposed to performing an educational service to the consumer.
