The present work reports the length–weight relationships (LWR) and condition factor relationships for Labeo calbasu collected from Upstream (Matyari) Kotri barrage at, River Indus, Pakistan, because stock assessment helps the fisheries managers to conserve the commercially important fish. Morphological characters of fish as well as Length-weight relationship are an important tool for fishery management. The results of LWR (W= aLb), for L calbasu.  Representing negative allometric growth pattern. LWRs and condition factor relationships were found significantly correlated. A total of 200 and 190 specimens from upstream and downstream were collected, respectively. The assessed values of length-weight correlation and condition factor were calculated as Kn=39.663 (LeCren), and K=11.915 (Fulton) for upstream and Kn=44.066 and K=13.872 for downstream. Length-weight was found with a strong correlation of n= 2.892, a=0.0235 with r2=0.934 for upstream population then the downstream population.  The results of this work would be beneficial for sustainable management as well as fishery managers.

The present work reports the length–weight relationships (LWR) and condition factor and of Cirrhinus cirrhosus inhabiting in River Indus, Sindh-Pakistan. The Length-weight relationship is an important tool for fishery management. A total of 340 specimens (individual) of length–weight were measured. A maximum length of the groups was observed 20.7cm and minimum as 9.4cm. The maximum weight was recorded about 84gm and minimum as 6gm. The estimated values of length-weight relationship and condition factor were calculated by formula LeCren (1951), as Kn=0.547, and Fulton as K=0.724. Length-weight was found with a strong correlation of n= 3.101, C=0.0176 with r2=0.894. The results of this work would be beneficial for sustainable management as well as fishery managers.

This study was carried out to evaluate the length-weight relationship, growth pattern and condition factor of the Silver catfish Chrysichthys nigrodigitatus from the Lower River Benue Makurdi, Nigeria. A total of 200 freshly caught specimens of C. nigrodigitatus were collected between July 2013 and September 2013 from the catches of the artisanal fisheries at landing points in Wadata Market, Makurdi. Results obtained showed that the “b” value for the males was 1.6067 while that of the females was 1.6791 and combined sexes 1.7371, indicating a negative allometric growth for this species. Correlation coefficient (r) obtained for males (0.9651), 0.9517 (females) and 0.9329 (pooled sexes) showed a positive significant relationship between length and weight of C. nigrodigitatus. Monthly mean condition factor (K), indicate that C. nigrodigitatus were in good physiological health condition. In conclusion, the baseline data on the length-weight relationship, condition factor of C. nigrodigitatus from the lower River Benue provided in this study is crucial in the sustainable management of this species in the River. Also, these findings will be useful in evaluating the population dynamics, stock and the aquaculture potential of C. nigrodigitatus for future purpose.

The investigation of length-weight relationship and condition factor are very relevant indices to ascertain the health of fish in the water body. Length-weigh relationship and condition factor of Hyperopisus bebe (Lacepede, 1803) (Actinopterygii: Osteoglossiformes: Mormyridae) in River Galma, Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria, were assessed. The mean length and mean weigh in male and female were 26.703 cm +/- 0.51 cm and 25.32 cm +/- 0.898 cm; 158.2 g +/- 10.1 g and 95.91 g +/- 9.26 g, respectively. The exponent or growth pattern 'b' values for male and female were 2.009 and 2.176. The condition factor for male and female were 0.59 and 0.83, respectively. The negative allometric growth pattern and poor condition factor might be due to the poor water quality in the fish ecosystem and should be regarded with concern.

Length-weight relationships (LWRs) and condition factor are important biological information to assess the growth pattern and wellbeing of fish species influenced by numerous abiotic and biotic factors. To date, no data on the LWRs and condition of mullets in Sombreior River, Niger Delta. Hence, this research was conducted to determine abundance, length–weight relationship and Fulton’s condition factor (K) of three species of fish belonging to family Mugilidae in Sombreior River, Nigeria. There were a total of 248 samples from five sampling stations for a period of months. Fish species were of various sizes ranging from 24.66±0.40 to 26.35±0.26cm in length and 141.41±6.30 to 161.56±5.87g in weight. For the three species, slope (b) values ranged from 2.18 to 2.68 indicating a negative allometric growth of all fish species. The mean condition factor ranged from 0.89±0.03 forsix Mugil cephalus to 0.93±0.03 for Parachelon grandisquamis while the coefficients of determination (R2) of the LWR regressions ranged between 0.64 (Neochelon falcipinnis) and 0.79 (Parachelon grandisquamis). It was concluded that the mullets in the Sombreior River had a negative allometric growth pattern and the condition is showing the species were in good state of well-being since mean K values are  greater than 1.

Growth, morphometry and length-weight relationships of the freshwater mussel Lamellidens marginalis (Lamarck, 1819) was studied during January 2014 and May 2015. Sampling was carried out monthly and a total of 560 specimens were collected from Rajshahi district, northwest of Bangladesh. The recorded length -breadth and length-width relationships were B = 0.179 + 0.475L and W = 0.196 + 0.3163L respectively. The length-total weight, length-wet tissue weight, length-dry tissue weight, length-shell weight, length-dry shell weight relationships were W = 0.1241L2.9066, W = 0.0524L2.7377, W =0.0116L2.7849, W = 0.0533L2.9178 and W = 0.0391L3.0386 respectively. Monthly b values of length-lengths and length-weights relationships indicated a negative allometric growth pattern except length-shell weights relationships which showed an isometric growth of the mussel. This study is the first report on growth pattern of Lamellidens marginalis from Bangladesh and the results would be useful for fishery managers to impose adequate regulations for a sustainable fishery management of this species in the freshwater ecosystem in Bangladesh. AbstractThe objective of the present study was to examine the length-weight relationships and condition factors of snapperLutjanus russellii, ponyfishAurigequula fasciataand white-spotted spinefootSiganus canaliculatusharvested from Ulelhee Bay, Banda Aceh City, Indonesia. These species are the predominant fishes caught by traditional beach trawl in Ulelhee Bay, Banda Aceh City, Indonesia. The sampling was conducted for three months from April to June 2015 at one-week interval. A total of 900 fish samples (300 individuals for each species) were measured for the total length and body weight. The length-weight relationships were calculated using Linear Allometric Model (LAM), while the relative weights (Wr) and Fulton’s condition (K) factors were calculated to assess the condition of the fish samples. The results showed that thebvalue of 3.04 in snapper indicates isometric growth pattern, while ponyfish and white-spotted spinefoot fish had the b values of 1.41 and 1.75, respectively, and these species display an allometric growth pattern. The average Fulton’s condition factor (K) of snapper was 3.01 for male and 2.49 for female; female ponyfish has the K value of 2.92 and 2.92 for male. In addition, the average K value of white-spotted spinefoot was 2.61 and 2.59 for female and male, respectively. The relative weight condition factor ranges from 58.73 to 166.09 for snapper, from 70.55 to 129.65 for ponyfish, and from 71.63 to 133.53 for white-spotted spinefoot. In general, the relative weight condition factors tendedto be 100. It is concluded that snapper has isometric growth pattern, while ponyfish and white-spotted spinefoot display the negative allometric growth pattern. The condition factors are in excellent condition and indicate a balance of prey and predator.

The study aims to figure out growth pattern and condition factor of the flying fish (Decapterus russelli) landed at the Fish Landing Base Tenda, Hulonthalangi District, Gorontalo City. Sampling of 360 layang fish was carried out randomly based on a simple random sampling method for three months. Determination of fish sex was conducted visually by dissecting samples and observing the gonads. The study showed that the layang fish (D. russelli) landed in PPI Tenda had a positive allometric growth pattern with condition factor values ranging from 1.005 to 1.014 and 1.002 to 1.620 for male and female, respectively

The length-weight relationship of a newly described catfish Pangasius silasi Dwivedi et. al., 2017 was studied from 88 specimens collected from the native distribution range of the species i.e. Nagarjuna Sagar Dam, Telengana, India. The total length and weight of the sampled fishes ranged from 290 to -590 mm and 240 to 2300 g respectively. Results of regression analysis showed that the regression coefficient (r²) values varied from 0.985 to 0.989. The average condition factor observed was 1.04 and 0.98 for males and females respectively. Positive allometric growth and condition factor of the species indicated the potential of the species for aquaculture. The information generated will also be useful in sustainable management and conservation of the species in natural waters.

The Length-Weight Relationship (LWR), Condition factor (K) and feeding habits of Synodontis clarias (Linnaeus, 1758) were investigated over a 24 month period from January, 2009 - December, 2010. A total number of 163 specimens comprising of 74 females and 89 males with the size range of 7.60 – 20.00cm and the mean of 12.72± 0.258cm were investigated. The weight ranged from 13.12 – 607.30g with the mean of 65.83± 0.897g. The LWRs for the females, males and combined sexes had the r values of 0. 8415, 0.9463 and 0.8703 respectively. The mean condition factor K was 3.3667, 2.6868 and 2.9954 for the females, males and combined sexes respectively. The regression coefficient b was 1.9408, 1.8799 and 2.1359 for the females, males and combined sexes respectively indicating negative allometric growth pattern for the species. Out of the 163 stomachs examined for food items, 88 (53.99%) were empty while 75 (46.01%) contained a wide range and varying quantities of food items indicating that S.clarias in River Benue is omnivorous.
