Hematological indication is an important finding for pathophysiology analysis of biological science. This study was designed with the aim to investigate the effects of residual antibiotics on hematological parameters of broiler following discriminate and indiscriminate use. 18 broiler DOC (Cobb-500) were reared up to 31 days. On day 16, they were randomly divided into 3 groups, namely Group–A (Control group), Group-B (Discriminate group) and Group-C (Indiscriminate group). Each group contains 6 birds. The discriminate and indiscriminate group was treated with antibiotic, enrofloxacin. In Group-B withdrawal period was followed and treatment was stopped before 7 days of sacrifice. On the other hand, withdrawal period was not maintained in indiscriminate group and the antibiotic treatment was continued until the day of sacrifice. The Total erythrocyte count (million/mm3) of control, discriminate, and indiscriminate groups were 3.15±0.047, 2.66±0.091, and 2.90±0.11 respectively. The Hb (gm%) of control, discriminate, and indiscriminate groups were 8.17±0.07, 7.37±0.09, and 7.28±0.07 respectively. The Packed Cell Volume (%) of control, discriminate, and indiscriminate group were 24.17±0.48, 23.17±0.48, and 22.33±0.67 respectively. There was no significant difference on blood parameter found among the groups. Therefore, discriminate and indiscriminate use of enrofloxacin has no bad effect on hematological parameters of broiler.

Hematological indication is an important finding for pathophysiological analysis of biological science. This study was designed with the aim to investigate the effects of residual antibiotics on hematological parameters of broiler following discriminate and indiscriminate use. The day old broiler chicks were collected and reared up to 31 days. The treatment was started from the day 16th until sacrifice. The chicks were randomly divided into three groups namely control group (Group A), discriminate antibiotic group (Group B) and indiscriminate antibiotic group (Group C) on the 14th day. The discriminate group was treated with antibiotic, colistin sulfate maintaining the withdrawal period of one week. In case of indiscriminate group the withdrawal period was not maintained and antibiotic treatment was continued till the day of sacrifice. The Hb (%) of control, discriminate and indiscriminate groups were 8.34±0.15, 6.89±0.27, and 7.14±0.23 respectively. The differences among means were statistically significant (P<0.05). The Packed Cell Volume (PCV) of control, discriminate, and indiscriminate groups were 23.51±0.76, 21.17±0.94, and 22.83±1.19 respectively. The differences among means were statistically significant. The multiple pair wise comparison of means of blood parameters revealed that there was no significant difference among discriminate and indiscriminate groups. From the above findings, this research could be considered a need based research in Bangladesh to ascertain the influential effect of antibiotic on hematological parameters in broiler. Asian J. Med. Background: Coronary angiography is the most important and reliable test todiagnose coronary artery disease. Bed rest of few hours is advised after angiography to reducevascular complications but there is difference of opinion regarding duration of bed rest afterangiography. Objectives: To compare the frequency of vascular complications after 6 hoursof bed rest versus 3 hours of bed rest in patients undergoing femoral coronary angiography.Study Design: Experimental study. Place and Duration of Study: Angiography Department,Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology, Faisalabad from August, 2017 to January, 2018. Methods:A total of 100 patients were divided in two equal groups, group A (interventional group (n=50),3 hours rest) and group B (routine care (n=50), 6 hours rest). A 6 French sheath was insertedunder local anesthesia by seldinger technique in femoral artery. Coronary angiography wasdone using 6 F angiography catheters. At the end of procedure sheaths were immediatelyremoved and manual pressure was applied for 15 minutes. Puncture site was observed forhematoma formation or bleeding every 30 minutes for 2 hours in angiography ward, afterwardsthese observations were made every hour till time of discharge. Patients were called for checkupin outpatient department next day and after 1 week. Results: Out of 50 patients in group A therewere 35 (70%) male and 15 (30%) female and in group B out of 50 patients there were 40 (80%)male and 10 (20%) female patients. In group A mean age was (51.02 ±9.57) years while in groupB mean age was (51.50±10.19) years. There was no significant difference in patients betweenthe two groups regarding their age, gender, body mass index (BMI), coagulation profile and useof antiplatelets. There was no incidence of pre ambulation bleeding, small or large hematoma inboth groups. Post ambulation bleeding occurred in 1(2%) patient in experimental group (GroupA) and in 1 (2%) patient in the control group (Group B). Small hematoma occurred in 2 (4%)patients in experimental group (Group A) and in 1(2%) patient of control group (Group B).There was no incidence of post ambulation large hematoma in both groups. Conclusion: Shortbed rest of 3 hours after femoral angiography does not increase the frequency of puncture sitecomplications.

Introduction:  Long term physical training has been considered to adversely affect the performance of athletes especially the females. It may be due to the iron depletion caused by hemolysis or hemodilution results from plasma volume expansion. This study aims to assess the effect of heavy exercise on hemoglobin concentration and some other hematological parameters in female athletes. Methods: This cross sectional study was carried out in the Department of physiology, Dhaka Medical College, Dhaka, from July 2010-June 2011. A total number of 105 females (70 athletes and 35 non athletes) between 15-25 years of age were recruited. The 35 apparently healthy female non athletes were taken as control (Group-A) and 70 female athletes comprise the study group (Group-B). According to sporting category, Group-B was further subdivided as B1:Runners and B2:Cyclists. Hemoglobin percentages (Hb %), red blood cell (RBC) concentration, packed cell volume (PCV), serum iron, serum ferritin and total iron binding capacity (TIBC) were measured in fasting state after two months training. Statistical analysis was done by using SPSS/ win.15.0 for comparison between the groups, using student’s unpaired “t” test. Results: Mean Hb%, RBC, PCV, iron and ferritin level were significantly (P<0.001) lower in athletes than those of control group. Within the study groups, runner’s serum iron and ferritin level were lower than cyclists.  TIBC significantly (P<0.001) rose in Group-B2 in comparison to Group-A. Conclusions: The current study showed that intense physical exercise leads to early stages of Hb%, RBC, PCV, iron and ferritin depletion which might compromise the health and performance of athletes. Keywords: exercise; hemoglobin; packed cell volume; serum iron.

This paper reports the findings of the implementation of full dictation and partial dictation in improving the awareness of using grammar knowledge in reconstructing listening texts among the EFL students at STBA (School of Foreign Languages) LIA Yogyakarta. Three groups participated in the study, i.e. two experimental groups (Group A and B) and a control group (Group C). A pre-test on listening to lectures was administered to the three groups. Over 9 sessions, Group C did the listening exercises in their textbook using dicto-comp technique, while in addition to the listening exercises which applied dicto-comp, the students in Group A was given full dictation exercises and Group B received partial dictation exercises. A post-test was given to the three groups after the ninth session. In addition to the post-test, a 5-point Likert-scale questionnaire assessing the students responses to the dictation exercises was given to the experimental groups. Results of paired-samples tests indicated that there was a significant difference between each groups pre- and post-test. The mean gain score of Group B was higher than Group A showing that Group B had better improvement in the post-test. Furthermore, Group B had better grammar points in their post-test compared to Group A. Group C also increased their scores but they still got their teachers assistance to point out their grammatical mistakes in their notes. This suggests that the dictations given to the experimental groups improved the students awareness in applying their grammar knowledge to reproduce a listening text they heard.

Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is an endotoxin from the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria, which has an important role in the occurrence of sepsis. Exposure to LPS will stimulate increase of nitric oxide (NO). Nitric oxide is a bioregulator of apoptosis and has some sepsis prognostic role of apoptosis regulators within the gastrointestinal cells. The objective of the study is to know if endotoxemia induces an increase in NO levels and histopathology scores as well as the existing relationship between them. This study is an observational intervention. The subjects were 48 male mice Balb/C, divided into 2 groups. The samples consisted of 24 tail as control group (group A) and 24 as treatment group (group B). The A group as well as the B group is divided into 4 subgroups according to the time of termination. The levels of NO were examined by Griess method. Histopathology score was examined by HE and read as a score of 0–5. There was a statistically significant difference between the mean NO in the treatment group with the control group at the termination of the group of 12h (p=0.009), 24h (p=0.015), 36h (p=0.014), 48h (p=0.002) and the whole group (p=0.0001), as well as between the mean histopathology score at the termination time of 12 h (p=0.0001), 24h (p=0.0001), 36h (p=0.0001), 48h (p=0465) and the whole group (p=0.0001). Increase in NO and histopathology scores in all groups of mice (r=0.527) showed a statistically significant correlation. NO levels and histopathology scores are increased during endotoxemia and thus have a significant correlation.

OBJECTIVE Microsurgical treatment of recurrent vestibular schwannoma (VS) is difficult and poses specific challenges. The authors report their experience with 53 cases of surgically treated recurrent VS. Outcome of these tumors was compared to that of primarily operated on VS. Special attention was given to the facial nerve functional outcome. METHODS A retrospective analysis was performed of the patients who underwent surgery for recurrent VS at one institution from 2000 to 2013. The preoperative data, intraoperative findings, and outcome in terms of facial nerve function and improvement of the preoperative symptoms were analyzed and compared with those in a control group of 30 randomly selected patients with primarily operated on VS. A multivariate regression analysis was performed to test the factors that could affect the facial nerve outcome in each group. RESULTS Fifty-three consecutive patients underwent surgery for recurrent VS. Seventeen patients were previously operated on and received postoperative radiosurgery (Group A). Thirty-six patients were previously operated on but did not receive postoperative radiosurgery (Group B). The overall postoperative facial nerve function was significantly worse in Groups A and B in comparison with the control group (Group C). Interestingly, there was no significant difference in the facial nerve outcome among the 3 groups in patients who had good preoperative facial nerve function. The tumor size and the preoperative facial nerve function are variables that significantly affect the facial nerve outcome. Most of the patients showed improvement of the preoperative symptoms, such as trigeminal hypesthesia, gait disturbance, and headache. CONCLUSIONS Complete microsurgical tumor removal is the optimal management for patients with recurrent or regrowing VS. The procedure is safe, associated with favorable facial nerve outcome, and may also improve existing neurological symptoms.

Antibiotic residues remain in edible portion of meat animals that have been treated with antibiotics. The aim of this study was to detect enrofloxacin residue after discriminate and indiscriminate administration and investigate the effect of enrofloxacin in growth of poultry. 18 broilers DOC (Cobb-500) were collected & reared up to 31 days. On day 16, they were randomly divided into 3 groups, namely Group–A (Control group), Group-B (Discriminate group) and Group-C (Indiscriminate group). Each group contains 6 birds. The discriminate and indiscriminate groups were treated with antibiotic, enrofloxacin. In Group-B withdrawal period was followed and treatment was stopped before 7 days of sacrifice. On the other hand, withdrawal period was not maintained in indiscriminate group and antibiotic treatment was continued until the day of sacrifice. Body weight was recorded daily in the morning. On 31st day mean body weight was highest in Group-C (1901.17 ± 15.22gm) and lowest body weight was in Group-A (1453.33 ± 26.39gm). The differences among mean weight gain were statistically significant (P<0.005) in both discriminate & indiscriminate group compared to control group. Test results found in TLC showed that in discriminate antibiotic group (Group-B) 50% liver samples, 33.33% kidney and 16.67% fat samples were enrofloxacin positive. No sample of thigh muscle, breast muscle and spleen was positive. In indiscriminate antibiotic group (group-C) all the samples were positive in case of liver, kidney, fat and spleen samples. Only 33.33% and 16.67 % samples were positive in case of fat and thigh muscle samples. All the samples of control group (Group-A) were negative. Overall, the present study documented the widespread abuse of enrofloxacin and failure to implement the recommended withdrawal period will undeniably leads to deposition of residues in broiler tissues. Abuse of antibiotics is more common in developing countries. This study was undertaken to investigate the presence of ciprofloxacin residue in broiler tissues and effects of antibiotics misuse on hematological parameters in broilers. Day old chicks (DOC) were collected and reared up to 31 days. The treatment was started from 16th day until sacrifice. On day 14th, the chicks were randomly divided into three groups namely control group (group A), discriminate antibiotic group (group B), and indiscriminate antibiotic group (group C). The control group was left untreated whereas, the discriminate group was treated with antibiotic, ciprofloxacin, followed by withdrawal period of one week. On the other hand antibiotic treatment was continued in the indiscriminate antibiotic group until the day of sacrifice, without maintaining withdrawal period. The mean body weight gain in treatment period (14 days) was the highest in discriminate group (1312± 26.1gm) followed by indiscriminate group (1089± 222.8gm) and control group (823.3±90.2gm). The Thin Layer Chromatography revealed that all the samples were positive in indiscriminate group with an exception of fat tissue (66.7%). The 50% liver and 33.3% kidney was ciprofloxacin positive in discriminate group and all others were negative. There was no positive sample in control group. . The hematological parameters such as Hb, PCV and TEC values of treatment groups showed significantly (p<0.05) lower, while PCV did not show any significant difference compared to the control group. Hence this experiment identifies the potential effects of ciprofloxacin misuse in broilers and their subsequent impacts on hemolytic system.

The quest for excellence in mental and physical health is not new. We find various references and formulations in Ayurvedic classics meant for promoting mental and physical health of a child. Suvarna Prashan is one of the formulations explained in age old Ayurvedic classic Kashyap Samhita. This formulation is very widely used now days as a memory and immune booster for children. But there is very little systematic documented study which can be used to evaluate the efficacy of the formulation. Suvarna Bhasma was prepared in Ayurved Rasayani Pharmacy, Pune. Madhu and Ghrita were collected from KLE Ayurveda Pharmacy, Belgaum. Suvarna Bindu Prashan was prepared in KLE Ayurved pharmacy, Belgaum. It contains Suvarna Bhasma, Ghrita and Madhu. Twenty apparently healthy male and female children with age group of three to four years were ready to sign inform consent form were selected into two groups each. Subjects in Group A received Suvarna Bindu Prashan where as Group B (Control group) did not receive any treatment. Both the groups were observed for six months. Children in Suvarna Bindu Prashan group showed significant reduction in the scores of eating habits, behavior, mood, temperament and scores of event of illness. However there was no significant difference in the score of sleeping habit. There was significant increase in IQ percentage.
