The aims of this research is was to find out the profile of overall science critical thinking ability and based on the gender of viii grade students of SMPN at Ende city. This research was a descriptive research. The population of this research were all the VIII grade students of SMPN at Ende city academic year 2017/2018. As many as 804 students and the sample were 10% of the populations, they were 80 students. This research used random sampling technique. The data were obtained from the score of science critical thinking ability. The data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis. the result shows that the average of science critical thinking ability of students was 66,84 which is categorized as medium or critical enough. Meanwhile, based on the gender perspective, the female group obtained the average as 68,56 which is categorized as high or critical. Meanwhile, male obtained the 62,03 which is categorized as medium or critical enough.

<p>Critical thinking in education has been widely practiced following the awareness that it helps a lot the students specifically in science subjects. In accordance with critical thinking ability in science, students who show ability on critical thinking will successfully cope with problems they encounter. Such ability hopefully works in their learning achievement. The objective of this research is to investigate the influence of creative and critical thinking on the achievement of the students of the Department of Primary Education IKIP PGRI Madiun in the class of Science Concepts II. The current study makes use of the descriptive correlational. As many as 191students enrolled the class of science concepts II in the academic year 2012/2013, out of 366 populations, serve as the sample through the proportional random sampling technique. Tests were administered to collect the data analyzed by applying descriptive analysis of double regression to assess the hypothesis in which SPSS PASW Statistics 18 was applied. Results show that there is significant correlation on the variables of creative and critical thinking on their achievement. The creative thinking contributes 20.13% while the critical thinking contribution is 21.53%. Other variables beyond this research contribute 58.34%.</p><p> </p><p>Key words: Creative Thinking Ability, Critical Thinking, Student Achievement</p><p> </p>

[ANALYSIS OF THE CRITICAL THINKING ABILITY FROM CHEMICAL SUBJECTS IN STUDENTS OF CLASS XI IPA SMAN 1 KEPAHIANG] This research aims to know the critical thinking ability of students. Type of this research is descriptive research using quantitative methods. This research was carried out in SMA Negeri 1 Kepahiang on September 2 to 8 may in 2017. The population in this research is the entire class XI IPA are registered on the even-numbered school year 2016/2017 semester. As the samples are taken at class XI IPA 6 of 32 participants.  Data collection is done with the test in the form of reserved descriptions as much as 10 round the whole includes indicators of critical thinking from the taxonomy of Bloom that is level (C2) understand (C3), apply (C4), analyzing and evaluating (C5). Test results obtained from the analysis of results the percentage of students with the ability to answer a question of thinking very critically at 15,6%, quite critical at 53,2 %, and less critical at 31,2 %, with an average value of 61.81. From the average of the values obtained showed that students who have average value included in the category of being. Based on the analysis of the data collected can be inferred levels of critical thinking ability of the students in class XI IPA 6 SMA Negeri 1 Kepahiang at school 2016/2017 academic year can be grouped in a category group are of 53,2 %, middle , 15,6 %  at high group and 31,2 % at low groups. From the results, it can be concluded that overall students in grades at  XI IPA 6 SMA Negeri 1 Kepahiang even 2016/2017 academic year with the ability to enough think critically.

This study aims to look at the Critical Thinking Ability Through the Use of Active Sharing Knowledge Strategies in an effort to prepare the 21st century generation of Material Excretion Systems. This research was conducted in April-July 2018/2019 Academic Year, at the Riau Islamic University, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education in Biology Study Program. The sample of this study consisted of one class, the determination of the sample by using purposive sampling technique. This type of research is a survey research with a qualitative approach. The method used in this research is experiment, which aims to find out a symptom or effect that arises, as a result of the existence of certain treatments. The data obtained were analyzed using quantitative data analysis techniques. The data obtained is the ability of students' critical thinking. The assessment of critical thinking abilities is carried out in accordance with the six indicators of critical thinking, namely: 1) Focus (focus), 2) Arguments (Reason), 3) Conclusions (inference), 4) Situation (Situation), 5) Clarity (Clarity), 6) Advanced Overview (Overview). The results showed that of the 17 critical thinking questions tested obtained a different presentation. 45% of the students' answers in the categories are very good and 55% are in the good categories. This proves that students' thinking on excretory material is good.

Abstract: This research aimed at analyzing the impact of the Adversity Quotient (AQ) and critical thinking ability onmathematics learning achievement. This is a correlational survey research design, with population was the student 8thgrade in SMPN 251 Jakarta, and was done from March until July 2014. Study sample is 57 students were drawn from apopulation with simple random sampling technique. The instruments were in the forms of questionnaires and documentation.The data were analyzed using multiple regressions. The result showed: Adversity Quotient (AQ) and critical thinkingabilities had positive and significant simultaneous impact on mathematics learning achievement; adversity quotient had apositive and significant impact on mathematics learning achievement; critical thinking ability had a positive and significantimpact on mathematics learning achievement. This research aimed to examine the effect of guided inquiry learning model toward concept mastery and critical thinking ability of physics of X grade students of SMAN 1 Kuripan in academic year 2017/2018. This research was an experimental research with post test only control group design. The population of this research was X MIA students consicted of 3 classes with the total number of the students was 30 for each class. The sample was chosen using cluster random sampling technique. Technique of collecting data of the mastery concept and critical thinking ability using essay test. Gained data was analyzed using manova test. The result of hypotesis test showed , so it was concluded that there was an effect of guided inquiry learning wodel on the mastery of concept and critical thinking ability of physics of X grade students of SMAN 1 Kuripan in academic year 2017/2018.

This study aimed to find out and analyze the effect of Numbered Heads Together (NHT) and Teams Games Tournament (TGT) technique cooperative learning and critical thinking ability on students’ learning achievement in Social Science. This study was conducted at SDN Ciwaruga 1 at Parongpong district in West Bandung with factorial experiment treatment by level 2x2 design. The sample of this study as many as 44 students was selected by random sampling technique. Data analysis took 27 % of upper group and lower group and used two path variance analysis with F test followed by Tukey test.The result of the study shows as follows: (1) as a whole, students’ learning achievement with NHT technique cooperative learning is higher than TGT technique cooperative learning with F test= 5.539 showing that it is statistically significant at the 0.05 level; (2) for high critical thinking ability students, students’ learning achievement with NHT technique cooperative learning is higher than TGT technique cooperative learning with t test= 12.22 showing that it is statistically significant at the 0.05 level; (3) for low critical thinking ability students, students’ learning achievement with TGT technique cooperative learning is higher than NHT technique cooperative learning with t test= 5.55 showing that it is statistically significant at the 0.05 level; (4) there is an interaction effect between the use of cooperative learning and students’ critical thinking ability with F test= 39.38 that it is statistically significant at the 0.05 level.It can be concluded that the effect of NHT and TGT technique cooperative learning and critical thinking ability on students’ learning achievement in Social Science at SDN Ciwaruga 1 at Parongpong district in West Bandung.   Key Words: Numbered Head Together, Teams Games Tournament, Cooperative Learning, Critical Thinking Ability, Students’ Learning Achievement.   Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis pengaruh Numbered Heads Together (NHT) dan Teams Games Tournament teknik (TGT) pembelajaran kooperatif dan kemampuan berpikir kritis terhadap prestasi belajar siswa dalam IPS. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SDN Ciwaruga 1 di Kecamatan Parongpong di Bandung Barat dengan pengobatan percobaan faktorial dengan desain tingkat 2x2. Sampel penelitian ini sebanyak 44 siswa terpilih dengan teknik random sampling. Analisis data mengambil 27% dari kelompok atas dan kelompok bawah dan menggunakan dua analisis varians jalur dengan uji F dilanjutkan dengan uji Tukey. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sebagai berikut: (1) secara keseluruhan, prestasi belajar siswa dengan teknik NHT pembelajaran kooperatif lebih tinggi dari TGT teknik pembelajaran kooperatif dengan uji F = 5,539 menunjukkan bahwa secara statistik signifikan pada tingkat 0,05; (2) untuk kritis yang tinggi siswa kemampuan berpikir, hasil belajar siswa dengan teknik NHT pembelajaran kooperatif lebih tinggi daripada teknik TGT pembelajaran kooperatif dengan uji t = 12,22 menunjukkan bahwa secara statistik signifikan pada tingkat 0,05; (3) untuk siswa kemampuan berpikir kritis rendah, prestasi belajar siswa dengan teknik TGT pembelajaran kooperatif lebih tinggi daripada teknik NHT pembelajaran kooperatif dengan uji t = 5,55 menunjukkan bahwa secara statistik signifikan pada tingkat 0,05; (4) ada pengaruh interaksi antara penggunaan pembelajaran kooperatif dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dengan uji F = 39,38 bahwa itu adalah statistik signifikan pada tingkat 0,05. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada mata pelajaran Termokimia melalui penerapan strategi Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) (POGIL) di kelas 11 SMAN 8 Pekanbaru. Penelitian ini menggunakan One Group Pretest-Posttest Design yang diadakan di SMAN 8 Pekanbaru pada tahun akademik 2017/2018. Objek penelitian adalah XI MIA 1 yang terdiri dari 32 siswa. Pengumpulan data siswa menggunakan teknik tes pretest dan posttest. Keberhasilan pembelajaran dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa ditunjukkan oleh peningkatan kriteria berpikir kritis dari hasil pretest dan posttest yang menganalisis persentase skor berpikir kritis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Siswa mengalami peningkatan dari kategori berpikir kritis sangat rendah ke kategori sangat tinggi dengan persentase 15,625%, dari kategori rendah ke kategori sangat tinggi adalah 40,625%, dari kategori rata-rata ke kategori sangat tinggi adalah 9,375%, dari kategori sangat rendah hingga kategori tinggi adalah 12,5%, dan dari kategori rendah ke kategori tinggi adalah 21,875%. Berdasarkan analisis data, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan strategi Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada mata pelajaran Termokimia di SMAN 8 Pekanbaru.   The research was held to determine the improvement of student’s critical thinking ability on Thermochemistry subject through implementation of Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) strategy at 11th Grade of SMAN 8 Pekanbaru. This research used One Group Pretest-Posttest Design which held in SMAN 8 Pekanbaru at academic year of 2017/2018. The object of research is XI MIA 1 that consist of 32 students. The data collection of students used test technique which are pretest and posttest. The success of learning in improvement of student’s critical thinking ability is showed by improvement of criteria of critical thinking from pretest and posttest results that analyzed the score percentage of critical thinking. The result of research showed that there was an improvement of student’s critical thinking ability. The students have an increase from the very low category of critical thinking to very high category with percentage of 15,625%, from low category to very high category is 40,625%, from average category to very high category is 9,375%, from very low category to high category is 12,5%, and from low category to high category is 21,875%. Based on data analyze, it can be concluded that implementation of Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) strategy is able to improve student’s critical thinking ability on Thermochemistry subject at SMAN 8 Pekanbaru.

Mathematical Critical thinking is one of  mathematical abilities that must be obtained by students. Critical thinking is one of the high order thinking processes that can make concepts in student knowledge.  Students with critical thinking in mathematics learning mostly do rational activities such as interpreting information based on a particular theoretical framework, linking theory with practice, making claims and justifying it, utilizing data in support of argumentation, making relations or relationships between various ideas, asking questions, evaluating knowledge, predict, describe something, analyze, synthesize, and categorize. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Concept-Based Learning Model on the critical thingking mathematical abilities.The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of Concept-Based Learning Model toward mathematics critical thinking ability. The method used in this research is quasi experiment by Randomize Control Group Post Test Only Design with cluster random sampling technique. Indicators of mathematics critical thinking skills measured in this study include providing simple explanations, building basic skills, concluding, making more explanations, and deciding an action. The results showed that the mathematics critical thinking ability of students in the experimental class for the five indicators that being analyze was higher than the ability of students in the control class. A fairly high difference in the indicator showed in give a simple explanation and concluding. and it means that the application of Concept-Based Learning Model significantly influences the  abilities  of students' mathematics critical thinking.

This study originated from the lack of utilization of learning media during the learning process. Teaching methods used by teachers are less varied so that learners are only trained in cognitive abilities only while for high-level thinking skills such as critical thinking ability is still low. One alternative that can be done to improve the skills of critical thinking is to utilize the Software Tracker media. This study aims to determine the improvement of critical thinking skills of learners through the use of Software Tracker media on the material impulse and momentum. The research method used is Pre-Experiment with design One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample of this research using Purposive Sampling technique. The research instrument used in this research is the critical thinking skills of the students of impulse material and momentum to measure the critical thinking ability of learners. The data analysis technique uses normality test, and t test to normalized n-gain value from pretest and posttest value of learners using Microsoft Excel. The results showed that the critical thinking skills of learners increased after utilizing the Software Tracker media during learning. The result of this research is proved from the significant value of ttable test of 1.691 while t count is 24.53 which means H0 is rejected and Ha accepted. The results of this study indicate that the use of Software Tracker media on the material impulse and momentum have a positive impact on improving the critical thinking skills of learners.

The purpose of this research wants to know the effect both grammar mastery and critical thinking towards student’s descriptive writing skill. It wants to know the effect of grammar mastery towards student’s descriptive writing skill. And then, it wants to know the effect of critical thinking towards student’s descriptive writing skill. Research method is a survey research which is taken from 90 students that are chosen randomly sampling technique at private senior high school in Karawang. There are several instruments, which are used in viewing the relationship between two independent variables (grammar mastery and critical thinking) and one dependent variable (descriptive writing skill), namely: (1) multiple choice test to measure the level of knowledge grammar mastery, (2) questionnaires to measure the level of cognitive in critical thinking, and (3) writing test to measure student’s ability in terms of descriptive writing skill. Data analysis technique used SPSS Version 16.0. The result of the research shown that (1) both grammars learned by student and critical thinking ability have effects on the student’s writing skill. This is evidence of the value both independent variables are Fcount = 339,539 and sig as big as 0,000 < 0,05. (2) grammar learnt by the students has effect on the student’s descriptive writing skill, this is evidenced by tcount  = 26,037 and sig as big as 0,000 < 0,05. (3) critical thinking ability has no effect on the student’s descriptive writing skill, this is evidence by tcount = 0,858 and sig as big as 0,393 > 0,05.
