The aim of this article was to explain how to implement Effortless English Movie Technique in order to improve students’ English speaking skill. Effortless English Movie is a six-day implementation technique that has different instructions for each day. It was a library research since the data are taken by gathering information from books and journals. However, the researchers also did pre-liminary observation to see the students’ perception toward the learning technique at university level to get a better comprehension about the real situation in learning process. The researchers, then, adapted the theory of the Effortless English Movie by A.J. Hoge with the real situation, so it can be used by the teachers well into their classrooms. This technique leads learners to focus on listening to be familiar with English conversation or dialogue, and continue to the speaking section to practice their pronunciation with the movie that has been chosen by the teacher. By using repetition strategy to practice the speaking skill, this technique focuses on speaking like a native speaker with an amusing way. Therefore, Effortless English Movie Technique is an optional easy and enjoyable technique that helps students a lot in learning to communicate fluently and accurately. The researchers hope that this article is useful for the readers, students, teachers, and next researchers in giving information about improving speaking skill. The researchers also expect that this technique can be one of the most favorite techniques that teachers use in classroom for English lesson, especially speaking skill.

The lack of English module in speaking skill to support the teaching and learning process becomes one of the reasons for this study to come up. Another one is the reality that now, students are expected to be able to develop themselves independently without being dependent on lecturers since the Ministry of Education issued a new curriculum of Kampus Merdeka (Independent Campus). This is such an extended period from what is being faced by the world during outbreak era where classroom activities cannot be held. This study aims to observe what kind of speaking module is needed by students and to develop a modelling-based speaking module in informal interaction to support the independent learning process. This is a research and Development method according to Borg and Gall theory with 10 steps of development. The results show students need a module that can give them examples how to pronounce words but not in form of phonetic transcription. A module is then developed containing various daily expressions accompanied by an USB flash-drive contains recordings of a native speaker giving examples or models on how to pronounce the expressions accurately. Student are expected to be able to imitate the examples whenever they need until they can produce correct pronunciation and intonation.

Findings highlight assessment tasks promoting thinking and practicing in the speaking activities and direct feedback to promote timely dialogues with students. The coherence of the model is discussed and some areas for further exploration are suggested. Based on the data analysis, the model shows significantly positive outcome. In the student side, it provides clearly path for them to reach the standard goal since they always get negative evidence from the teacher in each time they are out of the track. In the teacher side, it also provides positive effect. As they give negative evidence or correct the student’s mistake, they auomatically need to monitor the student’s development on every stages. It gives a crystal clear sight of student’s improvement. Finally it supports significantly on the assessment reliability  of their speaking skill.
