Characters is something that shows how good someone is. Every human being has the characters since they birth. Characters can be developed on a macro or micro basis, one of which is micro ways with learning and teaching activity in schools. Selection method of learning is vey important to develop good character in students. One method student-centered learning is the Spot Capturing method. This research method uses a literature study method that wants to know the characters that can be developed using the Spot capturing method. The literature results show that spot capturing methods can develop several characters in their implementation such as curiosity, honesty, discipline, hard work, creative, responsibility, social care and communicative.

The respondents of this study were 31 teachers who were taken using proportional random sampling (50%) from 62 companion teachers. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires (which consists of 24 statements) and interviews. Questionnaire data was analyzed quantitatively by classification of Likert scale value while interview data was analyzed descriptively. From the data collected through questionnaires and interviews found that the implementation of student centered learning in PSKD partner schools in Jakarta is good, and 30% of teachers still believe that the implementation of student centered learning in PSKD partner schools is still poor. Thus, it can be concluded the implementation of students centered learning at PSKD is good, but it still needs improvement. Keyword: evaluation, implementation, students centered learning, PPL

The purpose of this chapter is to explore whether social constructivism promotes mobile technology rich, student-centered learning/teaching practices, leading adult English as a second language (ESL) students to transform into self-directed learners. Under this theory, a shift from teacher-centered English language learning to a student-oriented approach to how students acquire basic English skills is promoted and students' possible transformation into independent and autonomous learners is fostered because, by use of mobile technologies, they may successfully transfer information from their previous experiences to their current knowledge. Incorporating mobile learning (m-Learning) into their instruction and making social constructivism an integral part of their curriculum, ESL teachers can contribute to their students transformation into self-directed learners as an active, knowledge-building community and in charge of their own learning processes, which explains that this theory is highly compatible with the principles grounded in what Knowles proposed as a progressive learning approach for adult education: andragogy.

This paper aims to promote the implementation of the concept of strengthening moderate Islam through democratic learning in Islamic elementary schools. The ease of internet access and remote communication, as the effect of globalization in the field of technology, can be used to gain any information needed, including the Islamic knowledge that can be freely learned without teachers. A literature study was employed to describe the data related to the internalization of moderate Islam and democratic learning. The findings demonstrate that moderate Islam (tawasuth) is a life principle that upholds justice in social life. The values of moderate Islam can be internalized in the school curriculum as a reinforcement starting from the elementary school level through implementing democratic learning. This application can be carried out through various methods such as discussion, question and answer, group work, and simulation. The implementation of democratic learning encourages communicative relationships between teachers and students, fosters friendship, and enhances the value of ‘ukhuwah’ (good relations). Furthermore, these methods emphasize student-centered learning. This study also illustrates that democratic learning provides a wide array of opportunities for students to creatively and critically express their ideas and thoughts in their own learning styles.

This study investigates the experiences of English major students at the College of Language and Translation (COLT) in King Saud University, Saudi Arabia, with Emergency Remote Learning and Teaching (ERLT) during the Covid-19 crisis. It focuses on the students’ preferences for devices and platforms, and gender differences influencing their choices. The study is of significance because it considers the student-centered learning approaches. The paper also seeks to answer the question as to the factors that lead students to make their preferences for the online teaching tools and devices. A total of 150 students, both men, and women, participated in the study. An online survey was carried out in the form of questionnaires to elicit their responses. The results showed that laptop computers were the dominant devices students used and preferred. They also revealed that the Zoom platform came first in students’ preferences, followed by Blackboard. Also, the findings showed that although participants used smartphones in their ERL, they did not recommend it, and it came last compared to laptops, tablets, and desktop computers in their order of preference. Gender differences existed in preferences to desktops and tablets in ERL. Another gender difference existed in preferences to platforms. Women students preferred Blackboard to Zoom while men students expressed the opposite.

Though lecturing (speech) method is simpler for lecturer because simple class organization and he can control entire class direction, but its weakness is he difficult to know whether students have understood his discussion or not. Student’s learning effectiveness generally limited, only a critical moment near final test. One effort to support the improvement of learning quality is applying Student Centered Learning (SCL) approach. SCL is an activity that therein student work individually and also as group to exploring problems, searching knowledge actively rather than passive knowledge receiver. Learning method based on the SCL more appropriate to be applied at learning process in university, especially at Social Research Method course (MPS). Following John W. Best, “the best way to learn research is to do it,” so research method not only concerning cognitive domain, but also affective and psychomotor. Among learning technique based on SCL are jigsaw technique, hypothetical situation technique, and role-playing and simulation technique. .

The astonishing popularity of social media and its emergence into the education arena has shown tremendous potential for innovations in teaching and learning. It enables student-centered learning in a more collaborative and interactive way in the online learning environment. However, few research has been conducted about how to use social media appropriately and effectively in Science education. The main purposes of this project is to explore the experience and perceptions of teachers with relevant teaching experience in using social media for K12 Science education, including the current level and scope of social media use, perception of utility, and its potential impact on science education. The implications, considerations, and challenges for and against the possible use of social media in science education were discussed with possible further research suggestions.

Abstract: The existing learning today, more inclined to competitive learning that emphasizes more on the cognitive aspects only so that students get a great course value but has a high individualistic nature, smart only for himself without wanting to share teaching his knowledge with other friends. This paradigm must be changed, into contextual and collaborative learning. The research method used in this study is the method of literature study and secondary data collection. The results of this study are that the KKNI competency-based curriculum, is a curriculum design that is very relevant to be applied in tertiary institutions especially at the level of study programs in order to prepare superior and competitive human resources in the world of work. There are three categories of curriculum designs in civil engineering study programs: (1) subject centered design; (2) student centered design ; (3) the problem centered designs.
