Forensic vehicle examination is one of the most demanded examination types in the state forensic institutions of the Russian Ministry of Justice.Forensic vehicle examination is based on the core sciences such as physics, mathematics, classical mechanics, theory of a vehicle etc. as well as on criminalistics, provisions and norms of criminal, civil, arbitration and administrative law. Based on  the kinematics and dynamics laws and theorems of a material object movement, key techniques and methodological recommendations on conducting forensic vehicle examination were developed. However, these techniques cannot be applied in cases when values of relevant parameters which are a part of the mathematical model are absent. Although the latest advances in science have made it now possible to identify the movement parameters of those involved in a road traffic accident by examining new objects. Some examples of using such objects in practice are given in the article, for instance of the satellite tracking system, different types of video fixation, supplemental restraint system (SRS) in a car.

The analysis of the unban road traffic state based on kinds of floating car data, is based on the model and algorithm of floating car data preprocessing and map matching, etc. Firstly, according to the characteristics of the different types of urban road, the urban road section division has been carried on the elaboration and optimization. And this paper introduces the method of calculating the section average speed with single floating car data, also applies the dynamic consolidation of sections to estimate the section average velocity. Then the minimum sample size of floating car data is studied, and section average velocity estimation model based on single type of floating car data in the different case of floating car data sample sizes has been built. Finally, the section average speed of floating car in different types is fitted to the section average car speed by the least square method, using section average speed as the judgment standard, the grade division standard of urban road traffic state is established to obtain the information of road traffic state.

The alarming rise in road traffic accident has resulted in increased incidence of degloving lower limb injuries requiring some sortof cover for exposed bones e.g tibia. Objective: To study and compare the rate of wound infection & decreased morbidity in degloving injuriesof lower limb following early bone coverage by various surgical methods of bone coverage. Design: Comparative, prospective study, Place& duration of study. Allied Hospital SU II Faisalabad. Period: From January 2002 to October 2004. Material & Methods: Thirty (30) patientsdivided into four groups, muscle & musculocutaneous flaps for 15 patients, local rotational flaps for 05 patients, cross leg flaps & decorticationfor 05 patients. The patients in each group were divided unequally because of unavailability of patients. Patients were also examinedpostoperatively for 06 weeks. Results: The patients underwent surgery for degloving injury of leg. Most of them were young malesbetween 5-45 years of age resulting mainly from different types of accidents. 2 out of 15(13.3%) patients having, musculocutaneous flapsdeveloped wound infection. 1 out of 5(20%) with local rotational flaps, 2 out of 5 (40%) with cross leg flaps & 3 out of 5(60%) with decorticationdeveloped wound infection. 14 out of 15(93.3%) patients with muscle & musculocutaneous flaps while 4 out of 5(80%) with local rotational flapsrecovered within 3 weeks. Patients with cross leg flaps recovered after one month while patients with decortication recovered after forty fivedays. 13 out of 15 regained full function (86%) with muscle & musculocutaneous flaps while patients having local rotational flaps regained 100%full function. 4 out of 5(80%) regained full function with cross leg flaps & 1 out of 5(20%) regained full function with decortication. Conclusions:Muscle & musculocutaneous flaps for exposed tibia is safe and effective method of treatment having low rate of wound infection with widercoverage & decreased morbidity.

Anxiety is a complex emotion characterized by an unpleasant feeling of tension when people anticipate a threat or negative consequence. It is regarded as a comprehensive reflection of human thought processes, physiological arousal, and external stimuli. The actual state of emotion can be represented objectively by human physiological signals. This study aims to analyze the differences of ECG (electrocardiogram) characteristics for various types of drivers under anxiety. We used several methods to induce drivers’ mood states (calm and anxiety) and then conducted the real and virtual driving experiments to collect driver’s ECG signal data. Physiological changes in ECG during the experiments were recorded using the PSYLAB software. The independent sample t-test analysis was conducted to determine if there are significant differences in ECG characteristics for different types of drivers in anxious state during driving. The results show that there are significant differences in ECG signal characteristics of drivers by gender, age, and driving experience, in time domain, frequency domain, and waveform under anxiety. Our findings of this study contribute to the development of more intelligent and personalized driver warning system, which could improve road traffic safety.

In this paper, two different types of biowaste composting processes were carried out – composting without and with bioaugmentation. All experiments were performed in an adiabatic reactor for 14 days. Composting enhanced with bioaugmentation was the better choice because the thermophilic phase was achieved earlier, making the composting time shorter. Additionally, a higher conversion of substrate (amount of substrate consumed) was also noticed in the process enhanced by bioaugmentation. A mathematical model was developed and process parameters were estimated in order to optimize the composting process. Based on good agreement between experimental data and the mathematical model simulation results, a three-level-four-factor Box-Behnken experimental design was employed to define the optimal process conditions for further studies. It was found that the air flow rate and the mass fraction of the substrate have the most significant effect on the composting process. An improvement of the composting process was achieved after altering the mentioned variables, resulting in shorter composting time and higher conversion of the substrate.

Traumatic brain injury is common in companion animals and can occur from many different types of trauma such as road traffic accidents or bites. Following the primary injury, which is beyond control of the clinician, secondary injury occurs minutes to days following the trauma. The secondary injury will lead to neuronal death, and is the focus of treatment strategies for the emergency veterinary surgeon. Treatment of traumatic brain injury includes nursing strategies, intravenous fluid therapy, hyperosmolar therapy and diuretics, pain management, maintenance of oxygenation and ventilation, temperature regulation, anticonvulsant therapy and glycaemic control. All of these are discussed in this clinical review.

Road-related injuries are often catastrophic, and the eighth leading cause of all-aged mortality. While psychological problems, including anxiety, driving phobia, and post-traumatic stress have been found to be common among injured survivors, the literature in this area is still limited. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of distress between different types of road injuries among 413 patients in Thai Binh hospitals from October to December 2018. The Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K6) was used to assess mental health status. Sociodemographic and clinical characteristics were also collected. The results of Multiple Logistic and Tobit regression models were utilized. Psychological issues were found in 13.8% of the participants. In terms of K6 profile, nervous, restless/fidgety, and “everything was an effort” were the three most frequently endorsed aspects. Having soft-tissue injuries had a 0.32-time lower likelihood of psychological distress compared to those having other injuries. Additionally, patients who were diagnosed with fractures were 4.5-times more likely to report psychological distress. Our finding highlights the need for psychological screening to reduce disabilities associated with non-fatal injury related to road traffic crashes.

Sealing of the cavity formed between a rotating disc and a stator in the absence of a forced external flow is considered. In these circumstances the pumping action of the rotating disc may draw fluid into the cavity through the rim seal. Minimum cavity throughflow rates required to prevent such ingress are estimated experimentally and from a mathematical model. The results are compared with other workers’ measurements. Measurements for three different types of rim seal are reported for a range of seal clearances and for rotational Reynolds numbers up to 3 × 106. The mathematical model is found to correlate the experimental data reasonably well.
