Algebra is essential to learning mathematics and as a basis to support another mathematical concept. On the other hand, students have not fully mastered the concept of algebra which causes errors in solving problems. This qualitative research aims to describe students' misconceptions in solving algebraic questions based on the Newman method to understand mathematical concepts. The data were taken from six eighth-grade students at SMP N 1 Turi consisting of high, medium, and low abilities. The results of the analysis showed that the students did not make reading errors. Meanwhile, the misunderstanding of the question's students did not write down the information in the questions. It was because students were not used to writing what was known and asked in the questions. Students do not write down the strategies used, so that transformation errors are found. Errors in student process skills do not complete. The cause of this is an error in determining information on the questions and difficulties in solving them. The mistakes made by students in writing the final answer were not reporting the units and conclusions from the results of the solutions.

The purpose of this research was to find out and analyze the collaborative learning applicationin reading material at the ninth grade of SMPN 7 KinaliPasaman Barat by analyzing the teacher’s and students’ role in the collaborative learning. The researcher used interview and observation as the instrument of the research. The interview was directed to both students and teacher, which for the students contained 12 questions and for the teacher contained 7 questions. The researcher took 2 classes namely IX1 and IX2 as the observation object.                    Based on the finding from interview and observation of the collaborative learning in SMPN 7 Kinali Pasaman Barat, it was found that the teacher already fulfilled her role in the collaborative learning effectively, in the other hand the students still lack of the role as the cheer leader. They still laughed at their friends mistake. Besides that, the other roles that the students supposed to have were already done effectively. Technology has significantly emerged in various fields, including healthcare, government, and education. In the education field, students of all ages and backgrounds turn to modern technologies for learning instead of traditional methods, especially under challenging courses such as mathematics. However, students face many problems in understanding mathematical concepts and understanding how to benefit from them in real-life. Therefore, it can be challenging to design scientific materials suitable for learning mathematics and clarifying their applications in life that meet the students’ preferences. To solve this issue, we designed and developed an interactive platform based on user experience to learn an advanced concept in the idea of linear algebra called Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) and its applicability in image compression. The proposed platform considered the common design principles to map between the provider in terms of clear mathematical explanation and the receiver in terms of matching good user experience. Twenty participants between the ages of 16 and 30 tested the proposed platform. The results showed that learning using it gives better results than learning traditionally in terms of the number of correct and incorrect actions, effectiveness, efficiency, and safety factors. Consequently, we can say that designing an interactive learning platform to explain an advanced mathematical concept and clarify its applications in real-life is preferable by considering and following the common design principles.

The aim of this research is to discuss about the Semantic Analysis of Prefixes in Karo Language which will provide more information about prefixes and also to show the changes of meaning of words which are already influenced by them. The method of doing reseach is by taking some references or text-books in the library, and this types of research is called qualitative research. It is found that the prefixes in Karo language are fourteen types, such as: n_, er_, per_, ter_, i_, me_, pe_, si_, ci_, ki_, ke_, pen_, kini_, se_. By adding the prefixes to the bases, the meanings of the words may change or may not change. For example: galang “big” becomes pegalang “to make bigger size”, deher “near” becomes ndeher “near”., etc. The conclusion is that the formation of word can be done by attaching a prefix to certain base (a noun, an adjective, a verb and an adverb or a numeral). On the other hand, the addition of a prefix to the base may only result in another form of a certain class of word or the change of a word meaning.

This article has two objectives. The first is to study the concepts of Competitive Intelligence and Dynamic Capabilities, aiming to verify if the stages of the competitive intelligence cycle can constitute stimulating elements for Dynamic Capabilities in organizations. The second goal is to understand how the competitive intelligence process is dealt with in medium- and large-sized companies in Brazil, grounded on opinions by specialists on the topic (scholars, researchers and consultants). For its consecution, besides the literature review on the subject, information was collected by means of in-depth interviews and, seeking triangulation of data, a comparative research was conducted on similar studies. It is a qualitative research that applies content analysis as its technique for investigation. The study supports that the routines in the stages of the competitive intelligence cycle and the abilities required for its operationalization foster the mobilization of Dynamic Capabilities in organizations. Competitive Intelligence, through a suitable development of the activities established in its phases, promotes the perception for change (sensing) and provides the necessary intelligence for the acquiring of the knowledge which will be the foundation for action (seizing), thus contributing for the continuous reinvention of the business (transforming). On the other hand, evidences suggest that Competitive Intelligence practices are still in their embryonic stages of application in Brazilian companies, and therefore need efforts for further qualification and consolidation.

Selling and buying as a social praxis is commonly found in daily activities. Traditional selling and buying is generally conducted in local language or dialect. Banyumas dialect or Banyumasan is a non-standard variation of Javanese language spoken along the Serayu River. Traditional selling and buying in Banyumas, consequently, is conducted in Banyumas dialect. Language plays important role in traditional selling and buying. In addition to its referential functions, phatic functions emerge from its practice. Referential functions are realized when language is used to achieve referential things such as goods and services. On the other hand, phatic functions are gained when language is used to initiate, maintain, and end a conversation. Phatic functions are very specific to traditional selling and buying which is rarely found in modern selling and buying. In modern selling and buying, seller and buyer may not be involved in a real conversation since goods exchange still occurs without any language exchange. This article proves the functions of phatic expressions in traditional selling and buying. It employs qualitative research method and conversational analysis to find the functions of phatic expressions. Based on the analysis, phatic expressions in traditional selling and buying in Banyumas dialect are mainly functioned for greeting, thanking, asking condition, showing surprise, emphasizing, and ending a conversation.
