This study is based on the existence of learning activities that are less responsive to various individual characteristics. To meet these demands, teachers need to understand students' characteristic. If the teacher in delivering the lesson material less attention to the characteristics of the students and the personality traits of students is not used as a foothold in learning, students will have difficulty understanding the subject matter. Whatever efforts are chosen and performed by the teacher and the lesson designer if they are not based on individual characteristics of the student as subject of learning, then the developed learning will not be meaningful for the students. Characteristics of students is very important to know by educators, because it is very important to be a reference in formulating learning strategies. Learning strategy is developed by teachers and implemented through learning methods to the students so that the learning objectives can be achieved effectively and efficiently. This research uses qualitative descriptive approach and data collection techniques used are interview, observation, and documentation in SDN Cikokol 2.

This is a descriptive qualitative research which aims to describe the implementation of Semester Learning Plan (RPS) on Maharah Istima’ Course by Using Cartoon Story Maker and its distinct characteristics from the previous RPS. The subject of this research is the Arabic language lecturers of IAIN Palangka Raya who teach Maharah Istima’ course. It uses observations, interviews, and documentations for the data collection techniques, and is validated using triangulation method. The results showed that there were nine learning activities of the implementation of Cartoon Story Maker based semester learning plan, namely; (1) Providing information to the students about the course’s learning objectives. (2) Giving apperception about the learning material. (3) Preparing and displaying Cartoon Story Maker media. (4) Students listen and prepare their stationeries (5) Students mention the main and supporting ideas. (6) Providing responses and corrections (7) Reminding the students to write the new vocabulary obtained. (8) Students make conclusions (9) Providing an explanation or summary about the material. The specification of this RPS with the previous one is that it is designed and clearly described the assessment indicators which include a series of more innovative activities, where learning is more centred on students and lecturers only act as facilitators and monitor the learning objectives. Lecturers only provide learning resources by creating Cartoon Story Maker as an interesting and effective learning media.

Learning outcomes are the culmination of all teaching and learning activities, because they are part of the benchmarks for the assessment of learners and teachers through various learning patterns and methods within a certain period of time. This is to become a new and further framework for teaching and learning activities (KBM).  Learning outcomes are also inspired by methods from the teacher to students and their feedback. Various types of learning methods have been used as a learning formulation, one of which is Jig Saw Learning, this method is an interesting strategy to use if the material to be studied can be divided into several parts and the material is not in the order. The advantages of this strategy are all students learn and teach others.  This method is can be implemented in various subjects with supporting capacities and tools such as syllabus, implementation of learning (RPP), student activity sheets (LKS), formative tests, and test validity. In this study the authors conducted a study to what extent the effectiveness of the Jig Saw Learning method was applied in Indonesian language lesson by comparing the theory with the application of the method, not only on learning outcomes, but also on students' understanding and mastery of the subject matter.

BackgroundCreating a conducive environment for learning cultivates engaged and independent learners, allowing for high-level learning (Warren, 2004). When assessing the diverse Psychology courses that exist, the evaluation of Research Methods (RM) teaching and its associated pedagogies is high on the agenda of college based Higher Education (Burton & Schonfield, 2011). ObjectiveThis study aimed at exploring what range of teaching and learning activities (TLA’s) promote effective learning of RM among Psychology students. Additionally, it aimed to understand, from a student perspective, what ‘effective learning’ meant in the context of RM. MethodA mixed methods approach comprising of both surveys as well as focus groups was conducted with undergraduate Psychology students. Thematic analysis and basic frequencies were used to analyse data. Results Results demonstrated that both student and teacher-led activities were beneficial and worked complementarily for students in their understanding of the subject whilst serving different purposes. Practical labs and class exercises were the top activities highlighted (student-led) followed by lectures and flow chart concept checks (teacher-led). Furthermore, ‘effective learning’ encapsulated not just a long-term knowledge acquisition of concepts but the ability to apply one’s knowledge to the wider context. Conclusion and teaching implication Findings are in line with the Conception of Learning which has a nested hierarchy consisting of both surface learning elements and deep learning (Marton,Dall’Alba & Beaty, 1993). RM has been identified as a difficult subject to teach as well for students to learn (Gray et al., 2015) and as a result this study teases apart some of the most beneficial techniques from a student perspective to be considered when designing the structure and delivery of RM courses.

In many educational hypermedia programs, the original meaning of hypertext influenced the entire pedagogical approach underlying the programs. This meant that learners were free to navigate, construct, and choose their learning path. In addition, no learning objectives were mandatory, and the processes of hypertext navigation and artifact constructions were emphasized. The problem of this trend was that learners received little feedback to guide them on how to use the non-linear structure, and not all could acquire important skills and knowledge of the subject matter. This article deals with an attempt to integrate linear instruction elements into hypermedia programs in order for learners to benefit from the advantages of both approaches. It offers feedback as a connecting unit in such an integration and suggests a model of feedback that fades in and out, based on the fading-out model of scaffolding traditionally used in the apprenticeship approach. A few projects are described to illustrate these ideas.
