<p>Substitution of fossil fuel into alternative energy sources, such as biogas, needs to be applied to prevent various problems in the environment. Biogas purification can be an alternative technology to improve the quality of biogas, which increases the heat value by reducing CO2. Purification can be carried out by the adsorption method using solid adsorbents, for example natural zeolite and activated carbon. This study used 12 reactors from PVC, with 2 different diameters, 3 different mesh size (20,50,80) and was given both zeolite (A1-A3; B1-B3) and activated carbon (A4-A6; B4-B6). Biogas purification with the addition of zeolite has an optimal compound content in reactor A3 which has an increase in CH4 (63.63%) and decrease in CO2 composition (25.07%), which is better than other reactors. Meanwhile, the results of measurements of gas content on the addition of activated carbon showed optimal performance in reactor A6, which was increased to 76.86% for CH4 levels and CO2 levels dropped to 19.79%.</p>

Biogas is one of the alternative energy sources that are environmentally friendly, inexpensive, easily available, renewable, and can be used as a substitute for gasoline for motor gasoline. For the use of biogas in the motor gasoline is necessary to improve the quality of biogas that is more optimal use of biogas when used as fuel. This study aims to determine the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) during the purification of biogas by using absorber Ca (OH)2 to the elevated levels of CH4 in biogas and its effect when testing the performance of the motor fuel, which indicate the performance of the motor fuel is the torque, power and effective specific Fuel Consumption effective. In this study, the biogas will be purified by varying the flow rate is var I (5 liters / min), var II (10 ltr / min) and var III (15 ltr / min), and biogas purification degan best quality results will be compared with biogas before purification by way of testing the motor performance in round 1500 rpm, 2500 rpm,3500rpm and 4500 rpm.The result showed that the purification of biogas menggunan Ca (OH)2 at a rate var II (10 ltr / min) produced the best biogas CH4 content of 91.0%, better than the variations I and III variations, and the results of performance testing of the motor fuel showed improvement menghasillkan better quality. Judging from rotation 4500 rpm for prior purification 5.9399 Nm torque, power and SFCe effective 2797.7079 W 0.000164 (kg / jam.W), whereas after purification 6.5821 Nm torque, effective power 3100.1628 W and SFCe 0.000113 (kg / jam.W)

The colorant that is often used in the textile industry is methylene blue which is a cationic heterocyclic aromatic compound. This compound is very stable and is difficult to decompose naturally leading to environment in large concentrations. Therefore, a waste treatment technology to reduce the concentration of dye waste in water becomes importannt. So far, adsorption method with activated carbon remains the most efficient and effective technique in removing dyes from liquid waste due to its relatively large adsorption capacity. Activated carbon is one of the non-metallic mineral commodities or multipurpose industrial minerals, one of which is as an adsorbent or adsorbent media. This study aims to determine the potential of activated carbon in adsorbing methylene blue with variations in the concentration of methylene blue and particle size of activated carbon. The procedures in this experiment include, the preparation of activated carbon with size variations (20-60, 60-100 and> 100 mesh) and variations in the concentration of methylene blue (15 ppm, 30 ppm and 45 ppm) with contact time (0 to 180 minutes). From the results of the study, it was found that the smaller the size of activated carbon used, the greater the adsorption capacity, ie at mesh size> 100 mesh, the adsorption capacity was 9.8%. Whereas, the smaller the concentration of methylene blue, the activated carbon could work optimally at a concentration of 15 ppm at 30 minutes with adsorption capacity as high as 100%.Keywords: adsorption; Methylene Blue; activated carbon; concentration; time; particle size

Abstract Bioethanol has been known as one of the alternative energy sources to replace petroleum. The use of bioethanol as a fuel has requirements that must meet fuel standards or refer to as Fuel Grade Ethanol (FGE). Further refining is required to achieve this qualification. The distillation method is the most commonly used method in bioethanol purification, but the results are less than optimal and sometimes the ethanol produced will be more volatile. Distillation-adsorption method using clay-based materials was developed to solve this problem. The purpose of this study is to purify bioethanol and determine the physical characteristics of the bioethanol produced and to assess the % purity of bioethanol from adsorption distillation. Characterization of activated natural kaolin as adsorbent, determination of the optimum contact time in the distillation-adsorption process, determination of the optimum mass of kaolin used and determination of the physical properties of bioethanol have been carried out. The results showed that 1 hour adsorption distillation could increase the ethanol content from 7.9% to 29.33%. In the study of the effect of the mass of kaolin, the optimum result was 25.25% ethanol using a mass of 5 grams. physical properties test of bioethanol obtained a density of 0.8211 gr/cm3 and a viscosity of 2.096 cps.

Concerns about climate change and fossil fuel shortages are encouraging interest in stumps, as alternative energy sources. Stumps are an almost unused resource in the context of bio fuels. Stump harvesting signifies an intensification of forest management compared with conventional stem-only or above-ground biomass-only harvesting. There are many benefits of stump harvesting. These include: the production of wood fuel, fossil fuel substitution, and improved soil preparation.Removing tree trunks in Hungary has been going on according to the principle of stump extraction, which means stumps are removed by grabbing technology. Experiments have been carried out to reduce the extraction force. In the Great Hungarian Lowland, where large areas require the operation implementation, stump extraction is done by special, hydraulic driven baggers equipped with a special bucket. During operation of the equipment, we carried out measurements of the extraction force and the time requirement. The experiments are designed to carry out the measurements with different soils and different tree species. According to our proposal the suitable force and torque required to remove stumps can be significantly reduced if before the lifting the soil — root connection is loosened. One of the possible ways to implement this task is the use of vibration. Since relatively great vibration power and wide domain of frequency are necessary, therefore we prepared the loosening machinery elements of alternating-current hydraulics system. Based on constructions variants we created a tractor-mounted experimental alternating-current hydraulic stump-loosening machine. It was designed with the ability to produce horizontal vibration in order to loosen stumps.

Subject. The article discusses limited sources of energy nowadays and an ongoing survey of new ones. I focus on fuel and energy complexes worldwide and in Russia. Objectives. The study is to analyze the future use of alternative energy sources in the fuel and energy complex nationwide and worldwide. I review the existing energy sources of the fuel and energy complex in the global and regional markets, specifically the alternative ones. Methods. The study relies upon methods of statistics, analysis and systems approach. Results. The article demonstrates that the fuel and energy complex strongly depends on the current situation in the energy resource market, which is difficult to forecast. If we continue relying on traditional energy resources, we get exposed to some risks affecting the sustainable development of the economy. Russia should diversify the power engineering sector by developing alternative energy sources. The article sets forth the economic rationale for alternative sources and key steps Russia shall make. Conclusions and Relevance. Considering the current situation in the energy balance, alternative energy is what any advanced society seeks for, being supported by manufacturers, governmental institutions, and researchers, though low profitability and high infrastructure costs impede its development. In Russia, these challenges are even more palpable. However, even now Russia is able to find alternative energy solutions. In addition to advantages of alternative energy, which is globally proclaimed, they will also help Russia diversify and update the economic system.
