<p class="AbstractText">This study is aimed at exploring the voices of English teachers and students of a state senior high school towards the National Exam policy and its implementation in Indonesia. Several theories of psychology and language learning were applied in this study as the theoretical framework. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. The participants were chosen by purposive sampling technique. The data for this study were garnered through a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) conducted to the selected twelfth-grade students and semi-structured interviews done to two English teachers. Both data were analyzed descriptively. Upon the analysis, two paramount themes prevailed: (1) the negative response towards the implementation and accuracy of National Exam (NE) policy in Indonesia; and (2) unintended impacts of NE policy on teaching and learning activity, students’ motivation, and English Language Learning and Curriculum. This study offers information for the government as the policymaker, school leaders, teachers, and researchers to understand how the NE is implemented at the school level.</p>

Abstract: In this 21st century era therm of Mobile Assisted Language Learning becomes a part of teaching and learning activity in English Education. Mobile Assisted Language learning offers various benefits to both teachers and students. Though, it offers various benefits, in practice it is still debatable thing. Thus, this research was tried to investigate students’ perception towards the implementation of MALL in their learning process. The research was taken at Senior High School in SMAN 1 Dukupuntang. This current study use descriptive qualitative method, and the data were collected through open-ended questionnaires and interview to get the relevant data. The present research shows that students tend to have good perception on the implementation of MALL in English Learning. In using MALL, students use several applications and software to help them study about English Language both inside and outside the classroom. By using MALL, students feel that it was more enjoyable and able to get the information quickly. This research also shows the challenges that faced by the students when they use MALL in English Learning activity. In conclusion, this research shows that students’ have positive perception towards MALL in English Learning.

The importance of the concept of &ldquo;identity&rdquo; in the context of language learning is unassailable. Stemming from this premise, the current study is intended to explore the identity conflicts of a group of Yemeni learners who were studying English, as well as the techniques and strategies used to mitigate and/or lessen the conflicts between their actual identity and the identity associated with the target language, i.e., English. This research project used a qualitative exploratory case study research design with a sample of 20 students who were requested to write their journal diaries. Following that, semi-structured interviews were conducted using the double-sampling technique to select 10 of the previously sampled students who were proven to have written the most stimulating and intriguing journal entries. From the results of the study, tangible identity conflicts between the Yemeni culture and society at large and the implied behaviors and conventions accompanying the intensive study of the English language became apparent. The students exhibit a high level of motivation and they also exert their efforts using different techniques and strategies to excel at the learning and/or acquisition of the speaking skill of the English language. These conflicts may be consciously or subconsciously realized by the language learners, but what has been proven is that their attitudes, motivation and general inclinations towards the goal of speaking with a native or a native-like accent are unquestionably genuine. Lastly, the study suggested or recommended a revamp of the current textbooks giving teachers more training sessions in order to improve their individual repertoire, as well as a higher degree of awareness upon the part of the Yemeni society at large that these conflicts can interfere with the strong motivations, both aspirational and actual, to achieve the learning outcomes of the nation&rsquo;s most promising future leaders and pioneers.

This study explores four primary English teachers' agentive perspectives about assessment in their school. Given the challenges brought by the abolition of International Standard School (ISS), the changed status of the school and the exclusion of English from the 2013 National Education Curriculum (NEC), a teacher-based assessment was the only solution to the unavailability of assessment guidelines and the unsuitability of assessment materials and methods. Employing teacher agency theory, this study examines the agentive sides of the teachers' perspectives as they would represent the teachers' strategic solutions toward the school's emerging problems. The teacher-based assessment was expected to accommodate the school's context, the students, and the subject taught. This instrumental case study's data was collected through semi-structured interviews and focus group discussion, which was then analyzed through six phases of thematic analysis and by employing nVivo12 software. The study indicates that the challenges brought by the changed educational policies reinforced collaborative work amongst the teachers. The teachers' perspectives also represent their agentive projections toward English language assessment which was heavily shaped by the teachers' previous assessment experiences during ISS and their ultimate teaching objectives. The findings are expected to provide insightful knowledge about how English teachers responded to shifted educational policies and projected to accommodate the school's specific contexts of assessment. The findings are also expected to explain how people's perspectives can be examined from an agency perspective.

Speaking is one of the important skills to master. The importance of learning speaking skills helps people to share their ideas, agreement or disagreement, compliment, and so on to others. Some students feel a lack of practice in learning English because they don't have enough support, including those in Taiwan. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to investigate how Taiwanese teachers apply CLL in speaking activities and the students' responses towards speaking activities which implement CLL at an elementary school in Taiwan. Data for this qualitative study were gathered from semi-structured interviews and reflective journals. The participants were one Taiwanese English teacher and 32 elementary school students. Data from the semi-structured interview were recorded, then transcribed. After that, themes were drawn based on the transcribed interviews. Based on the data, it was found that the Taiwanese English teacher applied CLL to teach the English language. Some activities such as group discussion and Think-Pair-Share were done. These activities were found useful because students could gain more vocabulary, a fun atmosphere created inside the classroom, and better fluency and pronunciation.

This study aims to find out how these students teachers define the concept of'professional teacher' before PPL, what are their expectations before attending the PPL, whatobstacles they encounter during the PPL, and what lessons they get during the PPL program.This qualitative study involved ten students of English Language Education as participants.They were selected through purposeful random sampling technique. Data were collectedthrough semi-structured interviews, a focused group discussion, and document analysis. Thecollected data is analyzed inductively with the help of the NVivo application. The results of thestudy showed that participants had an initial concept of professional English teachers beforethey embarked on their PPL program. Their concepts are in line with the professional teacherframework as stated in Law No. 14/2005 concerning teachers and lecturers. At the same time,all participants had high expectations for the PPL program in relation to their desire to becomeprofessional teachers. Participants also reported some of the obstacles or challenges they faced during the PPL, such as the difficulty of undergoing the teaching process and feeling too muchburden from non-teaching activities during PPL. However, at the end of the PPL, all of themclaimed to be quite satisfied with the process they had gone through. They claim to have learneda lot from PPL, among them, they have increasingly understood the complexity of the tasks andresponsibilities of a teacher.

The aim of this study was to describe the interaction of teachers and students at primary school levels in speaking class of English foreign classroom. It also aimed at describing how the participants experienced interaction and its level of interactional activities and influences. To carry out the real classroom interaction analysis in speaking class using FIACS technique, qualitative research / qualitative descriptive research was employed for this study, which is qualitative. The results were analyzed using qualitative/Latent content analysis mainly. The targeted schools selected using convenience-sampling technique, but English Language teachers were selected using purposive sampling. Qualitative methods of data collection, such as interviewing, observation, and document analysis were also developed and employed as major tools. The result from these instruments showed that the interaction was still dominated by the teachers as shown from the observation and recording, and the speaking skills input and process haven’t been found to have a positive change on their students speaking performance or improvement. Thus, all findings revealed that the teachers were not able to use the appropriate type of classroom language and provide formative feedback that really help in improvement of student’s language learning.

Purpose: This study aimed to examine motivation toward learning the English Language among learners from different universities in Iraq. The study focused on identifying   the type of, instrumental and integrative, and also the activities that learners prefer to use in the classroom. Methodology/Approach/Design: The study applied both qualitative and quantitative design. The instruments used in the study included questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. A sample of 200 participants were engaged in an online survey and filled the questionnaire questions. An interview through zoom was also conducted with the selected group of learners. Results: The findings of the study revealed that learners were motivated more instrumentally as compared to integratively. It was also evident that the students were interested in different learning activities. Practical Implication: This study will have a greater contribution to the pedagogy of English language learning. The findings of the study might be used by curriculum developers to make changes and implement the best techniques of teaching English in the Iraqi EFL curriculum. Originality/Value: The results of this study may make the university teachers and students aware of the significance of motivation in enhancing the English learning process. Also, the findings may make university teachers more creative in developing interactive learning activities that will be suitable for students.

The arrival of technology has opened doors to different opportunities. A number of institutions have integrated technology effectively in their learning environments to improve teamwork as well as to reform education as a whole. The aim of this study was to explore the effectiveness of EyeRIS to improve English Communication skills at the Primary School level at one of the elite private schools in Lahore, Pakistan. The study employed a qualitative structured interview for data collection. A purposive sampling technique was used to select the sample. The sample comprised five primary English language teachers. The findings of the study revealed that EyeRIS has a significant impact on improving the Communicative Skills of primary students. It helps to improve the receptive as well as productive skills of the primary level English language learners. Moreover, it is a powerful engagement and motivational tool in educational institutions. Overall, EyeRIS holds the potential for improving students' English language learning, academic performance as well as classroom behaviour.

This research's purposes were: (1) exploring the perceptions of non-English teachers in teaching English at IAIN Manado; (2) assessing the ability of non-English teachers to attain IAIN Manado student qualifications. This study uses a mixed research method based on an exploratory sequence. The research was conducted using IAIN Manado Purposive sampling technique, and the researcher determined the research object by specific criteria. The study results show: (1) They loved how a non-English professor teaches English. They say that if a non-English teacher is amiable in teaching, he often motivates students to learn English. They also value non-English-based lecturers. Students also actively follow teaching and learning activities, (2) Student evaluations also were found in pre-test and post-test data when post-test ratings were increased, with 7 (41.17%) having an average value, 5 (29.42%) with good ratings, 4 (23.0%) with poor scores, and 1 (5.89%) with very good ratings. This means a significant increase in English language learning by non-English lecturers.

<p><em>Street child problems, like iceberge phenomenon, of which the regional pockets, the distribution and the age tremendously increase day by day. Since 1997 the government of Indonesia through the Social Ministry has been carrying out efforts to overcome the problems, but up to now the efforts have not yielded the expected results because of the limited information of the problems. The present research was addressed to provide informations on the phenomenon profiles of street children and strategies for their elimination in Bandung, Bogor and Jakarta. Data were collected using structured interviews, focus group discussion and direct observation. The collected data were analysed using parametric and non-parametric statistics. Population were street children, 5-21 years of age. Sample in each region was consisted of 75 persons, 50 males and 25 famales, drawn using cluster random sampling  technique, and 25 parents of  the respondens as a cross check. The influence of family background on the street children behavior, direct or indirectly, was more obvious compared to that of  environmental background. The latter was indirect through sociologic characteristics of the street children particularly on the non formal education. Strategy for elimination of the street children could be equally applied for the whole regions, except for its approach, which can use the TRIBINA, which means  Human Building, Environmental Building and Efforts Building could be employed.</em></p><p> </p>
