This study aims to determine the role of parents in forming a Home Learning Environment (HLE) for early childhood in Trucuk, Klaten. This study used a qualitative approach with descriptive methods and was carried out by purposive sampling. The research subjects were 5 parents who have children aged 3-4 years. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. Data analysis used was data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the research that has been done, the role of parents in shaping HLE is seen when parents introduce new learning materials into the home through activities (playing, chatting and reading), preparing HLE according to children's needs and interests, offering various learning opportunities and providing learning experiences that are fun. With the role of parents in shaping HLE, it can be an early intervention program and direct children's activities to be more useful in reaching the next stage of development.

This article considers the empirical results of educational productivity research conducted by a team of researchers from Australia and the United States in the mid 1980s. Based on nine factors identified by this research, three issues that highlight the important educative role of parents, namely, the quality of the home learning environment, homework support and monitoring television viewing are discussed.

This research is a qualitative research that is field research, researchers describe the findings sourced from the field. The research data were obtained from interviews with respondents, consisting of parents and community leaders as well as observations of children in Kajen Village Rt 04 / Rw 02. Data collection techniques used were through observation, interviews, and documentation. While the technical analysis of data includes data reduction, data presentation and verification.From the results of this study indicate that the role of parents in Rt 04 / Rw 02 Kajen Margoyoso Village Pati Regency related in Improving Early Childhood Speaking Behavior is mostly good, smooth and develops according to the development of his age. It's just that they as parents need to know and be aware that, educating children must be with patience and perseverance. Parents can teach polite speaking behavior by familiarizing children with things that are praiseworthy from an early age. Because children are a reflection of the actions of their parents. So that the hope of parents later children can behave and talk politely with everyone.

ABSTRAKPendidikan yang utama dan pertama didapat anak dari orang tua. Orang tua memiliki peran penting dalam hal ini sebab orang tua adalah teladan pertama yang dikenal oleh anak. Peran orangtua yang demokratis menerapkan orang tua yang menjadikan anak-anak menjadi orang yang mau menerima kritik dan menghargai orang lain, memiliki kepercayaan diri yang tinggi dan mampu bertanggung jawab atas kehidupan sosial mereka. Permasalahan yang diangkat dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana pola asuh orang tua dalam pengembangan diri dan karakter anak usia dini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran orang  tua dalam penggembangan potensi dan karakter anak usia dini dengan pola asuh demokratis. Penelitian ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukan metode yang diterapkan orang tua  dalam penggembangan potensi diri dan karakter anak antara lain: a) memberikan pujian dan penghargaan kepada anak, b) menyediakan waktu bermain bersama anak, c) memberikan kasih sayang dan perhatian, d) memberikan keteladanan yang baik.Kata kunci: Pola Asuh, Potensi Diri, Karakter ABSTRACTFirst and foremost education is obtained by children from parents. Parents have an important role in this case because parents are the first examples known by children. The role of democratic parents applies parents who make their children willing to accept criticism and respect others, have high self-confidence and are able to take responsibility for their social lives. The problem raised in this study is how parenting parents in self-development and character of early childhood. This study aims to determine the role of parents in developing the potential and character of early childhood with democratic parenting. This research was analyzed using descriptive qualitative methods. Data collection techniques using interviews, observation and documentation. The results showed that the methods applied by parents in developing children's potential and character include: a) giving praise and appreciation to children, b) providing time to play with children, c) giving love and attention, d) giving good role models.Keywords : Parenting, Self Potential, Character

This  research are aiming to describe how the role of parents in fostering children’s reading interest in Anggrek Early Childhood Education Adiarsa Timur and children’s reading interest in Anggrek Early Childhood Education Adiarsa Timur. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. This research was conducted in Anggrek Early Childhood Education  Adiarsa Timur. The subject of the research is the source od information consisting of three parents of student, and the source of infomant consisting of one principal and one educator. Determination of research subjects using porposive sampling techniques. Research data obtained through observation, interviews, documentation studies, and triangulation. The research stages consist of orientation phase, exploration stage, and member check stage. Data analysis consists of data collection, data reduction, data display, and final conclusions. The result of research showed that parents have an important role as the first and foremost educator in fostering children’s interest in reading early on. The thing that parents can do at home is to give an example to children that reading is important, give special time to read together, and buy books that children love with reading materials that are appropriate to the age of the child. And the children’s interest in reading in Pre-school Anggrek Adiarsa Timur is very high, students in Anggrek Early Childhood Education Adiarsa Timur have a high sense of curiosity which makes them eager to learn to read. High interest needs support from several aspects such as learning resources, learning environment, dan learning facilities. Developed intererst will greatly influence behavior not only during the childhood period, but also afterwards, because it is very important for parents to foster children’s interest in reading early on.Keywords: The role of parents, Interest in reading, Early Childhood Education

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationships between the characteristics of the home learning environment (HLE) and students’ academic attainments in secondary school in England at age 14 and 16. Design/methodology/approach – This research study uses multilevel statistical models to investigate the strength and significance of relationships between various measures of the HLE at ages three, six, 11 and 14, and students’ academic attainment in secondary school. Findings – Multilevel models show that early years HLE and specific dimensions of later HLE are positive predictors of students’ later academic attainment at age 14 and 16, when the influence of various individual, family and neighbourhood characteristics are controlled. Originality/value – The paper presents unique findings on the role of the HLE in shaping students’ academic success at secondary school, including a range of measures of the HLE obtained at different ages. The results show that the early years HLE measured at age three continues to show effects on later attainment, over and beyond the effects of later HLE and other significant influences such as family socio-economic status and parents’ qualification levels.

Abstract The role of parents is very important for the formation of children's character starting at an early age, family communication will be a way to interact more closely between family members. The existence of communication that can be realized through action, and giving positive words to children. The influence of toxic parents can affect children's growth and development and even affect children's character, bad personalities during childhood can cause personality problems, and poor socialization. Therefore, in communicating with children, parents must pay attention to the character of the child in order to communicate effectively. Communication must be built as early as possible, and based on the understanding of parents. Methods of data collection are carried out in various ways, namely through observation, interviews, documentation. It is hoped that this research will have a positive impact on parents in the way of caring for their children, and be able to minimize toxic parents.   Keywords: Family Communication, Toxic Parents, Character, Early Childhood.

AbstrakPeran orang tua menjadi suatu hal yang penting untuk diperhatikan dalam pengembangan emosi anak usia dini. Hal tersebut dikarenakan tidak semua orang tua memahami pentingnya perkembangan emosi pada anak usia dini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peran orang tua dalam mengembangkan kecerdasan emosi anak usia dini di Kelurahan Krobokan Semarang Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif karena peneliti ingin melihat adanya fenomena orang tua yang memiliki perhatikan terhadap kecerdasan emosi. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik analisis data yang dikembangkan oleh Miles & Huberman yang didalamnya secara berurutan berisi pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi, yaitu dengan membandingkan data hasil pengamatan dengan hasil wawancara, membandingkan hasil wawancara yang sama dengan waktu yang berbeda, dan mencari data dari sumber lain selain subjek penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peran orang tua dalam mengembangkan kecerdasan emosi anak usia dini meliputi: (1) peran orang tua sebagai pendidik, (2) peran orang tua sebagai pengasuh, (3) peran orang tua sebagai motivator, (4) peran orang tua sebagai model. AbstractThe role of parents becomes an important thing to consider in the emotional development of early childhood. That is because not all parents understand the importance of emotional development in early childhood. This study aims to describe the role of parents in developing emotional intelligence in early childhood in Krobokan Village, Semarang Barat. This study uses a qualitative approach because researchers want to see the phenomenon of parents who have a concern for emotional intelligence. Data collection techniques are done through observation, interviews and documentation. This study uses data analysis techniques developed by Miles & Huberman which in turn consist of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data uses triangulation, namely by comparing the observational data with the results of interviews, comparing the results of the same interview with different times, and looking for data from sources other than the research subject. The results showed that the role of parents in developing emotional intelligence in early childhood includes: (1) the role of parents as educators, (2) the role of parents as caregivers, (3) the role of parents as motivators, (4) the role of parents as model.
