AbstractThe objective of the study was to know the accessibility of people with disabilities to the family health unit. This is an observational, descriptive study with a qualitative approach. Made in suburban neighborhoods in the largest municipality in the northern region of Mato Grosso. Data collection took place in March 2016, through an observation script and measuring instruments. The images were interpreted by iconographic analysis. It has been verified that the route of the residence of the disabled to the health unit, has many obstacles that can make the circulation unfeasible. This fact gives these people the tendency to lose their autonomy, since there will be the need of third parties help. Thus, they end up risking amid urban imperfections and irregularities and this trend to entail new possibilities of damages. They can also opt for other routes with fewer barriers, but more distant and dangerous. It is undeniable that the best way to reduce barriers is the movement of social inclusion, particularly in the planning of buildings and public mobility with greater accessibility, in the knowledge / reflection of the needs of the disabled person, support to families and articulation with the present social devices in the community. In addition, health professionals, especially nurses, play a key role in establishing links, so they can devise strategies to minimize such obstacles, while at the same time relieving moments of anguish and pain. Keywords: Health Services Accessibility. Routines and meaningful rituals play an important role in the family dynamic system. During the past 30 years, migratory flow into Italy has been constantly increasing. Our aim was to explore the structure of daily life in order to understand and compare family functioning of migrant couples in Italy with the family functioning of couples who were born and bred in Italy. In our study there were 124 participants (31 Italian couples and 31 migrant couples) who completed modified versions of the Family Routine Inventory and the Family Ritual Questionnaire. Participants were contacted by teachers at kindergartens attended by the children of the couples. The results highlighted a significant difference between Italian and migrant couples in the symbolic-significance dimension of rituals. The particularity of this finding is its coexistence with the absence of significant differences in the more pragmatic aspects of rituals. The possible influence of the migration experience and practical implications are discussed.

Objective To evaluate the evolution of indicators after the implementation of 21 Oral Healthcare Teams in the Family Health Strategy. Methods We used data from outpatient services of Oral Healthcare Teams to evaluate efficiency, access, percentage of absences and emergencies of oral healthcare professionals who worked in the partnership between the Sociedade Beneficente Israelita Brasileira Hospital Albert Einstein and the Secretaria Municipal de Saúde de São Paulo, during the period 2009-2011. Results Percentages of emergencies, income, and access showed a significant difference during the period analyzed, but no difference for percentage of absences was found. When monthly analysis was made, it is noteworthy that at the beginning of service implementation a fluctuation occurred, which may indicate that the work was consolidated over the months, becoming capable of receiving new professionals and increasing the population served. Comparison of the indicators in that period with the goals agreed upon between the Sociedade Beneficente Israelita Brasileira Hospital Albert Einstein and the Secretaria Municipal de Saúde de São Paulo made it possible to notice that the Oral Health Teams had a good performance. Conclusion The results showed that the goals were achieved reflecting the increasing number of professionals, the maturing of work processes in the Oral Health Teams, and optimization of the manpower available to perform the activities. Understanding these results will be important to guide the actions of Oral Health Teams for the following years and to assess the achievement of goals.

The impact of poor oral health may not just be limited to the children themselves but can impact their families. The current study aims to perform psychometric analyses of the Arabic version of the Family Impact Scale and investigate the association of its domains with the oral health status of children. This cross-sectional study was carried out in a sample of 500 parent-child dyads from high schools of Jazan city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Arabic version of the Family Impact Scale was subjected to reliability and validity tests. The explanatory variables in the current study are: the oral health status, parents combined income, parents’ education, age and sex of the child. The descriptive analysis was reported using proportions, this was followed by the bivariate and multivariable analyses. About 24.2% of children were reported to have fair, poor, and very poor oral health. A lower frequency of family impact corresponded with better oral health (OH) status of children (p < 0.001). The likelihood of parent’s taking time off from work and having financial difficulties was nearly two-times greater if their children had poor oral health. Similarly, interruption in sleep and other normal activities of parents is four times and five times greater, respectively, if the child has poor oral health status. Thus, the poor oral health of school children in the Jazan region of Saudi Arabia is a matter of grave concern as it is observed to be associated with family impacts; particularly affecting the parent’s work, sleep, and other normal family activities.

Objective: To describe the association between children’s orofacial cleft (OFC) and families’ quality of life (QoL), using the short-form Family Impact Scale questionnaire (FIS-SF). Also assessed were the psychometric properties of the FIS-SF, as well as whether certain demographic and clinical variables impacted the family. Design: Observational cross-sectional study. Setting: Tertiary care public children’s hospital in New South Wales, Australia. Participants: Parents/caregivers of children with OFC. Main outcome measure(s): The short-form Family Impact Scale questionnaire. Results: Two hundred and fourteen parents completed the FIS-SF. Excellent convergent validity was evident, but discriminant validity was weaker. Those children with velopharyngeal insufficiency/submucous cleft reported lower scores on the family/parental activity, and lower overall family impact scores than those with cleft lip (CL) or cleft palate (CP). Those with cleft lip and palate (CL/P) had poorer family/parental activity scores than those with CP. There were no systematic differences in FIS-SF scores by the child’s age, gender, private health insurance, living location, the number of cleft-related operations, or whether a child had commenced orthodontic treatment. Conclusions: The FIS-SF is a valid and reliable measure for determining the impact that OFC has on family QoL. The impact of OFC on children’s families differs according to cleft type.

Abstract The aim of this study was to understand the performance of dentists in public health about mouth cancer. A cross-sectional study was performed whit 121 dentists from Fortaleza Health Department, interviewed through a semi-structured questionnaire. The study did not identify statistically significant difference regarding the ability to perform biopsy by gender, year of graduation, expertise or time of public service. Only 22 professionals (18.2%) reported being able to perform biopsies and 13 (10.7%) would do so at the Family Health Unit. The reference and counter-reference system, by including another stage in patient care, increase the possibility of absenteeism from patient to health service. Although clearly identify the relevance of oral cancer mortality in the population, the vast majority of dentists is not equipped to perform the biopsy as a routine activity. Whereas the vast majority of biopsies of the oral tissues is performed as an outpatient, low technological complexity to perform the procedure and the effectiveness of biopsy in the early diagnosis of oral cancer, it is essential to hold this procedure in primary care, what can effectively contribute to decreasing mortality from oral cancer.
