The reduction in the rivers capacity is one the most important issue to give the decision maker an idea during the flood season. The study area included the rivers of the Al Atshan, Al Sabeel and Euphrates, which are surveyed with a length of 21, 5 and 20 km respectively. The Euphrates , the Atshan and Al Sabeel rivers were simulated by using HEC-RAS 5.0.3 software to study the real condition within the city of Assamawa. As well as the simulation was implemented by modifying the cross sections of the Euphrates and Al Sabeel rivers to increase their capacity to 1300 and 1200 m3/s respectively which are a flood discharges100 year return periods. The results showed that the maximum discharge capacity under real conditions of Euphrates River is 750 m³/s and both Al Atshan and Al Sabeel arms are 500 m3/s.

Euphrates River extends about 125 km within the study area located in Annassiriyah City, Dhi Qar Governorate, Iraq. The impact of the seven hydraulic structures on the discharge capacity of the Euphrates River needs to be considered. The main objectives of this research are to increase the discharge capacity of Euphrates River within Annassiriyah City during flood seasons and study the impact of these hydraulic structures on the river capacity by using HEC-RAS 5.0.3 software. Five scenarios were simulated to study the different current condition of Euphrates River within Annassiriyah City. Other additional four scenarios were implemented through river training to increase the river capacity to 1300 m³/s; it is the flood of 100 year return period. The results of the current condition showed that the maximum discharge capacity of Euphrates River within Annassiriyah City is just 300 m³/s. The results of applied improvements show that the capacity can reach 1300 m³/s when Al Chibayish Weir was hypothetically removed from the river system. Additionally, the river capacity will be reduced to 600 m³/s when Al Chibayish Weir is considered. It was concluded that the 100-year flood discharge cannot be achieved without removing Al Chibayish Weir from the river system.

The problem solving of the production element efficiency by using linear programming can be done by formulating the mathematical model. The principles that have to be kept first are:

The whole set of the problems can be divided into activity parts.

Each of the activities must have been determined precisely (about the quantity)

The quantity must have devided precisely

The limit of the capacity should be determined

Making the model

After that, the next step is finding the solution. However, one thing to remember is that the problem solving using linear programming is only a medium. About the application depends on the decision maker or the user that will not be out from the real condition.

This first element is contrasted with the policies of resource allocation pursued by Bogota local administrations in the period 2000-2013, in order to identify the real governmental contributions to thelocal economy. Next, a practical exercise is conducted by applying the methodology of Vester as a basis for the formulation of recommendations addressed to the city government; those recommendations depict the priorities that the targeted population expects from the institutional action to improve the performance of their business and to enhance their income to better their quality of life and that of their families. Fecha de recepción: 23 agosto 2016Fecha de aprobación: 15 noviembre de 2016Fecha de publicación: 6 de enero de 2017

In recent years, the notion of scale elasticity—the relative changes of outputs with respect to relative changes of inputs—has received a lot of ink in the literature. However, all prior studies, except a few of them, assume that changes are equi-proportional. This simplifying assumption makes scale elasticity measure to preserve the throughput mix and implicitly ignores both input independencies and decision-maker preferences. This paper seeks to investigate two main objectives. It initially proposes the notion of directional scale elasticity to allow evaluation of elasticity in any direction which may naturally alter the mix. Subsequently, by providing a tangible geometric interpretation, it attempts to clarify the measure. Relevant computations are used to construct cross sections of frontier in a given direction by enlisting the advantages of parametric optimization algorithm.

<p>PRISMA is the italian fireball network dedicated to observation of bright meteors and recovery of freshly fallen meteorites. Since the very beginning of the project, we experienced an increasing enthusiastic participation of non-professionals, starting from amateur astronomers and reaching an ever wider audience among citizens. Nowadays PRISMA has become an established italian stakeholder in the field of meteors and meteorites, being the reference for visual warnings, video recording of fireballs and report of suspect meteorite finds.</p> <p>In this contribution we will describe our experience on this topic and the methodologies we have developed to capitalize such potential, by actively training and involving citizens in activities focused on meteorite/meteorwrong identification and organized on-field search campaigns. We will show an application to the real case of the 15th march 2021 meteorite-dropping bolide in sourthern Italy, near the city of Isernia.</p>

A microscopic analysis of the optical potentials (OPs) and cross sections of elastic scattering of 8B on 12C, 58Ni, and 208Pb targets at energies 20 < E < 170 MeV and 12,14Be on 12C at 56 MeV/nucleon is carried out. The real part of the OP is calculated by a folding procedure and the imaginary part is obtained on the base of the high-energy approximation (HEA). The density distributions of 8B evaluated within the variational Monte Carlo (VMC) model and the three-cluster model (3CM) are used to construct the potentials. The 14Be densities obtained in the framework of the the generator coordinate method (GCM) are used to calculate the optical potentials, while for the same purpose both the VMC model and GCM densities of 12Be are used. In the hybrid model developed and explored in our previous works, the only free parameters are the depths of the real and imaginary parts of OP obtained by fitting the experimental data. The use of HEA to estimate the imaginary OP at energies just above the Coulomb barrier is discussed. In addition, cluster model, in which 8B consists of a p-halo and the 7Be core, is applied to calculate the breakup cross sections of 8B nucleus on 9Be, 12C, and 197Au targets, as well as momentum distributions of 7Be fragments. A good agreement of the theoretical results with the available experimental data is obtained. It is concluded that the reaction studies performed in this work may provide supplemental information on the internal spatial structure of the proton- and neutron-halo nuclei.

The present study is aimed at increasing the accuracy of multi-criteria evaluation of alternatives in selecting a location for establishing an intermodal terminal in the North-Central planning development region of Bulgaria. A model has been used in the paper that allows us to increase the accuracy of multicriteria evaluation of all studied alternatives. This has been achieved by converting the values of various units into identical dimensionless units within a defined interval. It makes it possible to do an evaluation of the alternatives by using the real values of the criteria. The model has been used for multi-criteria evaluation of the alternatives in selecting a location for establishing an intermodal terminal in the city of Ruse. The results have been compared with the results of a pre-feasibility study of establishing an intermodal terminal in the city of Ruse in the North-Central planning development region of Bulgaria.
