AbstractDiabetes melitus is a metabolic disease characterized by high blood glucose levels in the body, caused by abnormalitized in insulin secretion. One of the non-pharmacological method to reduce blood sugar level is progressive muscle relaxation therapy. This study aims to identify the effect of progressive muscle relaxation techniques in lowering blood sugar. A literature review of studies of progressive muscle relaxation therapy in reducing blood sugar publishedin 2011-2020 was conducted. The average number of respondents was 26 male and female responden with and average age of 55-60. The results showed that progressive muscle relaxation therapy was able to control blood glucose among diabetic. This study concludes that progressive muscle relaxation therapy effectively reduce blood sugar levels in patients with diabetes melitus. The findings suggest that progressive muscle relaxation therapy can be used as non-pharmacological therapy to lower blood sugar levels. Background: Sleep is one part of physiological needs and it is a basic need which is needed by all humans to be able to function optimally. However, the elderly will often experience sleep disorders. Sleep disorders in the elderly will affect the quality of sleep. One of nursing intervention that can improve the elderly sleeping quality is progressive muscle relaxation therapy. This study aims to determine the differences of sleep quality before and after having progressive muscle relaxation therapy toward the elderly with sleep disorders. Methods: This research was conducted at the Tresna Werdha Sabai Nan Aluih Social Home, Sicincin in 2019. The research was conducted for 2 weeks with one-week intervention. This research is a Quasy experiment using one group pre-test and post-test without control group design approach. This study used the sample of 16 respondents taken by purposive sampling. The analysis of data uses dependent T-test with a significance level of 95% (α 0.05).Results: The results of the study found that the average sleep quality of the elderly before being given the intervention was 13.63 and after the intervention it became 8.44 with p value of 0.000.Conclusions: The results showed that there were significant differences before and after the intervention. For this reason, it is recommended for the elderly with sleep disorders to be able to do progressive muscle relaxation therapy to improve sleep quality.

Physiological changes in the elderly can cause a change in the neural system that is a disorder towards sleep quality while changes in the musculoskeletal system are the occurrence of muscle strength decline. Progressive Muscle Relaxation Therapy is a therapy which can improve sleep quality and muscle strength. The purpose of this research is to analyze the effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy towards muscle strength and sleep quality of the elderly at House Technical Implementation. The research type used is quasi-experiment design with pretest and posttest nonequivalent control group design. The population in this research were all elderly as many as 40 elderly people. The sampling technique used was Total Sampling which was then divided into intervention group which consists of 20 respondents and control group which consists of 20 respondents. The measurement tool used was PSQI (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) questionnaire for sleep quality and the MMT (Manual Muscle Testing) observation sheet for muscle strength. The data were analyzed using Paired T-test and Independent T-test. Based on Paired T-test, it was obtained that p value = 0.000 (p

The prevalence of diabetes occuring in 2015 is 9,3% and is expected to increase annualy. Type 2 diabetes mellitus occurs because insulin resistance, which glucose fails to enter the cell, usually occurs in the age above 30 years. One of the modalitas therapy that can be done is progressive muscle relaxation. The purpose of the study was to the identify the effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy on the decrease in blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at hospital GRANDMED Lubuk Pakam. This research method used pre-experimental design with one group pretest-posttest. A sample size of 10 respondents selected by sampling technique of non-probability sampling type consecutive sampling. The result of paired hypothesis test of t-test sample at significance level 95%obtained p Value < α, that is 0,001 indicates that there is influence of progressive muscle relaxation therapy to decrease blood glucose level in type 2 diabetes mellitus patient. Conclusion obtained there is significant difference between blood glucose levels before and after progressive muscle relaxation therapy. It is sugessted that health care institutions need to implement new policies related to the application of progressive muscle relaxation therapy.

AbstractHypertension is the increase of blood pressure which is higher than or equal to 140 mmHg at systolic blood pressure and higher or equal to 90 mmHg at diastolic blood pressure. The purpose of this study is to implement actions of progressive muscle relaxant therapy to lower blood pressure on hypertensive patients. This research uses descriptive method and tye subjects of this research are two hypertension clients with blood pressure higher than 140/100 mmHg at Glandang Village, Bantarbolang. Intervention is done by giving progressive muscle relaxation therapy for six days and is done once a day. The result of the study shows a drop in blood pressure on both clients, for client 1 to drop blood pressure from 160/100mmhg to 130/90mmhg and for the second client to drop in blood pressure from 170/100mmhg to 130/100mmhg. The study of the case indicates that progressive muscle relaxation therapy reduces blood pressure on hypertensive people. It is recommended for nurses or people working in health field to provide therapy in order to lower blood pressure in the form of progressive muscle relaxation therapy in hypertensive people.
