Introduction. Given the lack of methods for studying the sense of ownership, the article substantiates the feasibility and strategy of studying the psychological features of the realization of sense of ownership in social practices. Aim. To develop a set of methods for empirical research of psychological features of realization of person’s sense of ownership in social practices. Methods. A set of qualitative and quantitative methods, which included: associative experiment, focus group method, expert survey, interview, content analysis, mathematical and statistical analyses, as well as factor and correlation analyses to model the features of the realization of sense of ownership in social practices. Results. The set of methods proposed by the author consisted of three groups of methods, which aimed at: 1) determining the most typical social practices of ownership, in which a sense of ownership was manifested; 2) studying social ideas of Ukrainians regarding property; 3) studying the psychological features of the realization of sense of ownership in various social practices and constructing models of this realization. The author gives a logical substantiation of a step-by-step strategy of research into the realization of sense of ownership in social practices. Conclusions. The proposed research strategy and methods allow exploring a complex social and psychological phenomenon of sense of ownership and its realization in social practices. The quantitative and qualitative methods of the mixed research are effective and offer the possibility of generalization of the data by means of auxiliary strategy of triangulation. The proposed research model can be replicated and supplemented in further scientific research depending on the objectives and conditions of the study.

Technology-mediated learning (TML) is a major trend in education, since it allows to integrate the strengths of traditional- and IT-based learning activities. However, TML providers still struggle in identifying areas for improvement in their TML offerings. One reason for their struggles is inconsistencies in the literature regarding drivers of TML performance. Prior research suggests that these inconsistencies in TML literature might stem from neglecting the importance of considering the process perspective in addition to the input and outcome perspectives. This gap needs to be addressed to better understand the different drivers of the performance of TML scenarios. Filling this gap would further support TML providers with more precise guidance on how to (re-)design their offerings toward their customers’ needs. To achieve our goal, we combine qualitative and quantitative methods to develop and evaluate a holistic model for assessing TML performance. In particular, we consolidate the body of literature, followed by a focus group workshop and a Q-sorting exercise with TML practitioners, and an empirical pre-study to develop and initially test our research model. Afterward, we collect data from 161 participants of TML vocational software trainings and evaluate our holistic model for assessing TML performance. The results provide empirical evidence for the importance of the TML process quality dimension as suggested in prior literature and highlighted by our TML practitioners. Our main theoretical as well as practical contribution is a holistic model that provides comprehensive insights into which constructs and facets shape the performance of TML in vocational software trainings.

The lack of alignment of organization elements towards the organizational strategy leads to poor execution. When the different departments of the organization have different strategies that are different directions and implementations, the whole organizational purposes and visions rarely could archive. The main purpose of this research is to present a valuable approach for success organizations that we named strategic alignment. For this purpose we use the Balanced Scorecard (BSC). The Balanced Scorecard is a management tool used to translate the corporate strategic mission and vision into a set of quantifiable indicators of performance. In other words, it is intended to explain what to do and how to do it. The real contribution of a Balanced Scorecard program is to link the objectives in each of four perspectives: financial, processes, customers, and growth and learning. In this study using a valid questionnaire and also with focus group method the final theoretical research model was presented. Results of this research showed that BSC is a useful tool and has high validity and reliability for strategic alignment for financial organizations. The results are applicable for both academicians and practitioners for managing strategies and related programs and tactics in the financial institutions and organizations.

AbstractFor decades, researchers have been trying to identify the factors that significantly influence the conflicting results in the organizational environment. This search has become more stringent through recently published scientific evidence demonstrating strategic changes. Using multi-factorial analysis, this study mixes qualitative and quantitative methods by which we can examine the pro-organizational performance on a university-type population. The qualitative results indicate that the analyzed organization develops corporate-strategic schemes that are being used to attribute the advantage meant to guide the competitive behavior.

I found PhD study to be a stimulating, challenging and ideal conduit for exploring knowledge via discussion, argument and defence: to have the opportunity to explore method, methodology, epistemology, ontology and what may constitute 'acceptable' research practice is an enriching experience. I had previously heard of intepretivists decrying positivists et cetera, but I was unprepared to find quantitative researchers and lecturers openly dismissing qualitative approaches, and finding dismissals by qualitative researchers of the use of a quantitative approach: such are disappointing and confusing to a trainee researcher. Thus, a far less enriching experience for a trainee researcher is being faced with assumptions and preferences of experienced researchers that extend from defending approach to decrying any approaches that may not be aligned to their own. As a result, this paper will focus upon the quantitative-qualitative debate (QQD) and offer a critical evaluation upon the issues surrounding affiliations between method and epistemological paradigm. It will also question the validity of 'traditional' divides between qualitative and quantitative methods. This discussion will facilitate an answer to the question: 'can the researcher complement quantitative with qualitative method - and vice versa - within the same research paradigm and subsequent design'? I will explore here a claim that no more than a rhetorical link exists between method and epistemology and that the 'distinctions' between quantitative and qualitative methods are often erroneous and do not always reflect differing paradigmatic assumptions. Further, I will suggest quantitative and qualitative methods be used in a complementary fashion as opposed to an integrated approach. I will further claim that the quantitative-qualitative debate has much to offer trainee researchers and should thus be kept open, as long as unprejudiced and tolerant discussion is encouraged.

The aim of this study is to conduct a critical discussion within a political economy framework on the use of mixed method, which is an increasing tendency in communication research, and its philosophical foundations in post-positivism. In the study, the mixed method called as “third methodological movement of the 21st century,” the limitations of the attempts to combine qualitative and quantitative methods in the positivist and postpositivist paradigm are revealed. The study discusses how the convergence of quantitative and qualitative methods in critical economy politics can be possible and what opportunities it offers in an effort to make a holistic explanation of social reality.

The asynchronous online discussion can enrich learning experience in many ways, even in classroom or blended learning scenarios. It is quite challenging to design an effective online discussion. The presented study draws on the action research strategy. After observing and analyzing students’ learning problems in introductory programming courses, we came up with intervention of the online collaborative activity to guide students during their individual studying at home in a more regulative manner. The main goal was to involve students in active learning and strengthen the feel of being a friendly community member. Students were producing sample test questions/tasks for others, and then using products of their classmates for their own learning. The intervention was evaluated deeply using both, qualitative and quantitative methods. This reflection implied that the activity’s design was appropriate and the impact on students’  learning process was positive. We found the constructivist features of the activity essential as for its effectiveness. The learning scenario described in this paper provides a verified framework for designing similar collaborative activities suitable mainly for problem-oriented areas of study, e. g. in science or engineering education.
