Purpose The purpose of this paper is to report on a process and impact evaluation of the Positief Educatief Programma (Positive Education Programme (PEP)), a whole school approach to supporting children’s well-being and creating a positive school climate in primary schools in the Netherlands. PEP adopts a competence skill enhancement approach with a focus on developing children’s positive emotions and strengths. Design/methodology/approach A process and impact evaluation was performed within the context of two schools piloting the programme. Employing questionnaires and interviews, the evaluation sought to examine the implementation of PEP, participants’ experiences with key components and the programme impact of PEP. Findings The findings reveal largely positive attitudes towards PEP. Staff and parents were positive about the core components of PEP. Results from standardised questionnaires provide preliminary evidence about the positive impact of PEP on children’s self-reported well-being and problem behaviour, teachers’ awareness of children’s strengths and overall school climate. The provision of practical strategies and activity-based resources was considered essential to the ongoing implementation of PEP. Research limitations/implications This study reports on findings from two implementation schools and therefore lacks generalisability. Further research using more robust research methods exploring the effectiveness of PEP when compared with “business as usual” is needed. Originality/value School frameworks aimed at creating a positive school climate and promoting well-being at the whole school level have not been carried out in the Netherlands to date. The results from this study provide a unique insight into the implementation and perceived impact of a whole school framework in the context of two primary schools.

This theoretical study focuses on the school climate. In particular, it focuses on the phenomenon of the positive school climate and its specific areas. The aim of the paper is to describe important areas of the positive school climate based on the analysis of selected positive climate models (National School Climate Center, 2017; Rudasill et al., 2017; Thapa, Cohen, & Guffey et al., 2013; Grecmanová, 2008, etc.). The text describes basic concepts, such as classroom climate, learning climate, or teacher staff climate. Primarily, the school climate is defined and a brief description of the factors involved in its creation is provided. Subsequently, the text deals with the terminology concerning the positive climate, as there is a disunity in this area. A significant part of the contribution is devoted to specific models of positive school climate, where, based on various research surveys, areas are defined which are key for the positive climate. In the final part of the paper three important areas of the positive climate are described, which repeatedly appear in the selected models, so they can be considered important.

Introduction. It has long been established that school climate can influence the course and outcomes of education, but the findings of previous research are inconsistent as to which elements of school climate are crucial for positive outcomes. This paper provides a more detailed insight into the individual contribution of the dimensions and determinants of school climate for adaptive functioning of students. Objective. The objective of the research was to consider the patterns of the relationship between the quality of school climate and its determinants (program, process and material) and adaptive characteristics of students. Methods. The research was conducted in five primary schools in Belgrade. The Charles F. Kettering, Ltd. - CFK School Climate Profile was used to assess school climate, and the TRF Adaptive Functioning Profile was used to assess adaptive characteristics of students. Both questionnaires were completed by primary school teachers. Results. Positive correlations were found between the quality of school climate, program, process and material determinants, on the one hand and, on the other hand, adaptive characteristics of students. Based on the results of regression analysis, the program determinants of school climate were singled out as the only significant predictor. Conclusion. The results of this research confirm that a good school climate, and especially school programs and practices in the domain of learning and teaching, can contribute to adaptive characteristics of students. Based on the obtained results, the paper describes the implications for future research and practice in this field.

Teachers play an important role in the educational system. Teacher self-efficacy, job satisfaction, school climate, and workplace well-being and stress are four individual characteristics shown to be associated with tendency to turnover. In this article, data from the Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) 2018 teacher questionnaire are analyzed, with the goal to understand the interplay amongst these four individual characteristics. The main purposes of this study are to (1) measure extreme response style for each scale using unidimensional nominal response models, and (2) investigate the kernel causal paths among teacher self-efficacy, job satisfaction, school climate, and workplace well-being and stress in the TALIS-PISA linked countries/economies. Our findings support the existence of extreme response style, the rational non-normal distribution assumption of latent traits, and the feasibility of kernel causal inference in the educational sector. Results of the present study inform the development of future correlational research and policy making in education.

The principal should have caring to improving the quality of education. Such caring should be demonstrated with the will and ability to develop themselves optimally, so the teachers and education personnel can improve their performance. The teacher's performance is influenced by several factors are situational leadership style, work motivation and job satisfaction.The purpose of this research is to know and analyse the influence of situational leadership style, job motivation, and job satisfaction on the teacher's performance, the influence of situasional leadership style and job motivation to the performance of teachers moderated in job satisfaction. The population of this research is the teachers of accredited pre-primary school in Singaraja Cit Bali. The data collection techniques in this research are the observation and distribution of questionnaires. This research uses data analysis methods using SmartPLS software. The results showed that the situational leadership style, job motivation, and job satisfaction affects the teacher’s performance of the accredited pre-primary schools in Singaraja City Bali, and the situational leadership style, and job motivation have no effect the teacher’s performance who are moderated job satisfaction at the pre-primary school accredited in Singaraja City Bali.

<div><p>Teachers often find themselves frustrated at work because of conflicting expectations concerning their professional and social roles within the community. This paper looks at the effect of teachers’ perception of their profession on their satisfaction at job and performance. The authors employ a survey design in private schools in Yei Town, South Sudan to establish the impact of these perceptions. Simple random sampling technique was used to select the respondents from ten private schools. The respondents’ therefore included 10 head teachers, 100 teachers giving a total of 110 respondents. Questionnaires were used for data collection. Data collected was analysed by the use of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 12.0 was and presented in frequencies and percentages and a regression analysis performed to establish the relationships among the variables. The study findings indicated that a considerable number of the teachers (38.9%) indicated that teacher’s own perception of their own profession does not affect the teachers’ job satisfaction and performance.</p></div>
