The results of the analysis of the current state of international normative legal acts and Ukrainian legislation regarding the protection of animals, grounds and types of legal liability for the commission of animal cruelty and ethical attitudes to animals especially specialists in biology, veterinary, medicine. We served information regarding the implementation and observance of ethical standards and legal requirements of bioethics at the experimental research on animals, including in veterinary medicine.

‘Crime scene management and forensic investigation’ shows how the actions of investigating officers at a crime scene can affect the availability and efficacy of forensic tests later in the investigation. The purpose of crime scene management is to control, preserve, record, and recover evidence and intelligence from the scene of an incident in accordance with legal requirements and to appropriate professional and ethical standards. Any items removed from a scene by investigators must be packaged and labelled correctly to prevent contamination and minimize damage. Once forensic analysis begins, it is essential to consider the investigative implications of actions and decisions. It is sometimes more effective, quicker, or convenient to bring the specialist to the crime scene.

The primary spacing is intrinsically linked with the mechanical behavior of directionally solidified materials. Because of this relationship, a significant amount of solidification work is reported in the literature, which relates the primary spacing to the process variables. This review provides a comprehensive chronological narrative on the development of the directional dendritic growth problem over the past 85 years. A key focus within this review is detailing the relationship between key solidification parameters, the operating point of the dendrite tip, and the primary spacing. This review critiques the current state of directional dendritic growth and primary spacing modelling, briefly discusses dendritic growth computational and experimental research, and suggests areas for future investigation.

Experimental animal models offer possibilities of physiology knowledge, pathogenesis of disease and action of drugs that are directly related to quality nursing care. This integrative review describes the current state of the instrumental and ethical aspects of experimental research with animal models, including the main recommendations of ethics committees that focus on animal welfare and raises questions about the impact of their findings in nursing care. Data show that, in Brazil, the progress in ethics for the use of animals for scientific purposes was consolidated with Law No. 11.794/2008 establishing ethical procedures, attending health, genetic and experimental parameters. The application of ethics in handling of animals for scientific and educational purposes and obtaining consistent and quality data brings unquestionable contributions to the nurse, as they offer subsidies to relate pathophysiological mechanisms and the clinical aspect on the patient.

This chapter summarizes the history of policy analysis in Turkey beginning with the Ottoman Empire and tracing the developments in the era of the Turkish Republic until the early 21st century. After a review of the history, the chapter assesses the current state of policy analysis education, research, and application in Turkey, before concluding that policy analysis and policy studies in Turkey have come a long way, but also have a long way to go. The chapter makes the observation that advanced theories and methods are not covered in most of the courses in policy analysis and policy studies, many of the publications are descriptive, and the legal requirements for public agencies to use analyses in their decision-making practices have not been implemented fully. The chapter recommends that Turkish governments should apply advanced analytical methods and all stakeholders should participate to public policymaking.

This article highlights the key conclusions of international and national sociological research and observations on the current state of the judicial system of Ukraine. It analyses the achievements and failures at the main stages of the implemented judicial reform and highlights the importance of standards and recommendations for the proper organisation and functioning of the judiciary. Particular attention is paid to the conclusions of the ECtHR, which enshrine legal positions on issues that are essential for the implementation of effective justice: the inadmissibility of the use of independence guarantees of judges to avoid legal liability; the need to improve the institution of the jury; and balanced and strategic planning of further reforms in the field of justice.

Among the more common explanatory theories for nature’s impact on health is the potential for stress recovery. Both epidemiological and experimental research have confirmed stress reducing effects of exposure to natural environments. As stress is a major risk factor for many common diseases, particularly mental disorders this indicates that nature may play an important role in preventing ill-health. Mental disorders are dominating the burden of disease in many countries and a variety of actions are required to tackle the issue. This chapter outlines how nature may promote stress recovery both directly and indirectly protect mental health. It describes the current state of the art regarding nature, stress, and mental health, and provides a theoretical framework for the associations.

Systematic, well-designed experimental research and standardized documentation is a starting point for explaining the outcome of experiments and comparative analyses, whether within single experimental research or a wider frame of comparison with other research. This contribution presents a sequence of research procedures that served as a basis for the design and implementation of experiments related to bloomery iron production procedures. A proposal for the method of documentation is made with the aim of combining all general functional parameters relevant to the procedures of ore preparation and direct process of reduction in the reconstruction of a smelting furnace, based on personal experiences and the current state of experimental research related to iron production. The objective is to give a structured basic template of main parameters that should be recorded and reported when performing experiments related to the mentioned procedures. The hope is to bring forward a layout that should be upgraded and further developed based on specific research questions one could have.
