O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar os efeitos da suplementação de um complexo enzimático em dietas contendo torta de cupuaçu (TSC) sobre o desempenho, rendimento de carcaça e viabilidade econômica de frangos de corte de linhagem caipira. Foram utilizados 300 frangos da linhagem caipira “pescoço pelado” em delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado com 6 tratamentos e 5 repetições. Os tratamentos, em arranjo fatorial 3x2, eram constituídos por três níveis de inclusão de TSC (0, 5, 10 %) e dois níveis de enzimas (sem ou com). As enzimas foram fornecidas com a inclusão de 200 g/t de um complexo de xilanase (12.000 u/g) e β-glucanase (2.500 u/g) e 50 g/t de fitase (5.000 FTU/g). Não houve diferença entre os tratamentos no consumo de ração e viabilidade. O ganho de peso diminuiu com o aumento do nível de TSC na dieta, piorando a conversão alimentar. O uso do complexo enzimático não influenciou as variáveis analisadas. O rendimento de carcaça não foi influenciado pela inclusão de TSC e complexo enzimático, porém houve diminuição da gordura abdominal e aumento da moela e intestino com o aumento da inclusão de TSC na dieta. A inclusão de TSC e complexo enzimático na dieta diminuiu a margem bruta relativa (MBR). Portanto, a inclusão de TSC afetou negativamente nas características produtivas das aves, enquanto as enzimas exógenas avaliadas não foram efetivas em compensar os efeitos deletérios da TSC no desempenho e retorno econômico.Palavras-chave: alimentos alternativos, desempenho, enzimas, nutrição animal, rendimento de carcaça. ENZYMATIC COMPLEX IN FREE-RANGE BROILER DIETS WITH INCLUSION OFCUPUAÇU (Theobroma grandiflorum) SEED CAKE ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study was to evaluate with the effects of an enzyme complex supplementation in diets containing cupuaçu seed cake (CSC) on the performance, carcass yield and economic viability of free-range broilers. Three hundred broiler chickens of the ‘Pescoço Pelado’ free-range line were used in a completely randomized experimental design with 6 treatments and 5 replicates. Treatments, in a 3x2 factorial design, consisted of three dietary levels of CSC (0, 5, and 10%) and two enzyme levels (without or with). The enzymes were provided by the inclusion of 200 g/t of a xylanase (12000 u/g) and β-glucanase (2,500 u/g) complex, and by 50 g/t phytase (5000 FTU /g). There was no difference on feed intake and viability. The weight gain decreased as the dietary CSM level increased, worsening feed conversion. The enzyme complex did not affected the analyzed variables. The carcass yield was not affected by the inclusion of CSC and enzyme complex, but decreased abdominal fat, and increased gizzard and intestine with dietary CSC levels increasing. The inclusion of CSC and enzyme complex in the diet reduced the relative gross margin (RGM). Therefore, the inclusion of CSC negatively affected the productive characteristics of free-range broilers, while the enzymes were not effective in compensate the CSC side effects on performance and return.Keywords: alternative feedstuffs, animal nutrition, carcass yield, enzymes, performance.

SUMMARY The aimed of the study was to evaluate the effect of the inclusion of different levels of an enzyme complex consisting of phytase, protease, xylanase, β-glucanase, cellulase, amylase, and pectinase on the parameters of performance, carcass yield and meat quality of broilers. Six hundred broiler chicks were used, and the animals were females with one day of age, from the Cobb 500 strain, and distributed in a completely randomized design, with five levels of inclusion of the enzyme complex (0, 100, 200, 300 and 400g/ton), and six repetitions, with twenty animals each. The weight gain, feed conversion ratio, feed intake and production viability were assessed in stages between 1 to 21, 1 to 35 and 1 to 42 days of age. The carcass yield and meat quality were evaluated at 35 and 42 days of age. We evaluated the characteristics of weight loss by cooking, shear force, water holding capacity, pH, lightness and color. The parameters of performance, carcass yield and carcass parts, and meat quality were not affected by the enzyme supplementation of diets fed to broiler chickens (P>0.05), except for the performance characteristics of the breast and the wings at 42 days of age (P<0.05).

The effects of enzyme supplementation on the performance, yield, and blood profile of broilers fed corn and soybean diets from 1 to 42 days of age were evaluated. A total of 960 male broilers were used, distributed in a completely randomized design, with six treatments and eight replications. Two diets were used: a positive control formulated to meet the birds’ nutritional requirements (Diet 1) and a negative control diet with reduction of 150 kcal.kg-1 of metabolizable energy (Diet 2) and 12% amino acid in the initial phase and 18% during the growing and finishing phases. Further diets were based on the negative control with enzymes: enzyme complex 1, composed of 125 g ton-1 protease; enzyme complex 2, composed of 100 g ton-1 amylase, protease, and xylanase; enzyme complex 3, composed of 500 g ton-1 amylase, protease, and xylanase; and enzyme complex 4, composed of 125 g ton-1 protease and 500 g ton-1 beta-mannanase. Enzymatic supplementation did not improve performance during the initial and growing phases due to nutritional imbalance, resulting in the worst weight gain and feed conversion during the finishing phase. Carcass yield, leg yield, abdominal fat, and pancreas were altered by enzymatic supplementation. Triglyceride levels influenced abdominal fat deposition, and the serum levels of albumin and alanine aminotransferase were altered by enzymatic supplementation. Enzymatic supplementation was not effective in restoring broiler performance, carcass yield, and cuts, with changes in the serum biochemical profile of the broiler chickens.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of dietary metabolizable energy levels on the performance and carcass yield of free-range broiler chickens from 1 to 84 days of age. A total of 900 male day-old naked neck lineage chicks were distributed in a completely randomized design between six levels of metabolizable energy (2,700; 2,800; 2,900; 3,000; 3,100 and 3,200 kcal.kg-1 diet) with six replications of 25 birds each. The increase in levels of dietary metabolizable energy resulted in a linear reduction of the feed intake, crude protein and digestible lysine intakes, as well as in the protein body deposition and protein efficiency and linear improvements in the feed conversion ratio of chickens in all experimental phases. The carcass yield, wing and abdominal fat weight and percentage of abdominal fat reduced linearly by increasing the level of dietary metabolizable energy. The diet including 2700 kcal.kg-1 of metabolizable energy in the diet of free-range broiler chickens in phases 1 to 28, 28 and 56 and 57 to 84 days of age does not interfere in the broilers performance and results in a better carcass yield in the final period of production.

Enzyme supplementation in diets based on corn and soybean meal can improve the productive performance of broilers. Thus, we aimed to evaluate the effect of the inclusion of different levels of an enzyme complex consisting of phytase, protease, xylanase, ?-glucanase, cellulase, amylase, and pectinase, for diets based on corn and soybean meal, on the parameters of carcass yield and meat quality of broilers. An experiment with broiler chickens was conducted to compare the relative bioavailability of liquid methionine hydroxy analogue free acid (MHA-FA) with that of DL-methionine (DLM) during fattening to 35 days of age. Ross 308 male chicks were allotted to 9 treatments, each consisting of six replicates of 140 birds/pen. Four graded levels (0.04, 0.08, 0.16, and 0.28 %) of MHA-FA or DLM products (weight/weight comparison) were added to a maize-wheat-soyabean meal basal diet deficient in sulphur amino acids. The criteria of response were body weight, feed conversion ratio, carcass yield and breast meat yield. Significant responses to graded levels of both methionine sources were observed in all response criteria. Using a multi-exponential model describing the dose-response relationships, the bioavailability estimates of MHA-FA relative to DLM on a weight-to-weight basis were 68, 70, 54 and 59 % for body weight, feed conversion, carcass yield and breast meat yield, respectively. If MHA-FA was compared with DLM on equimolar basis its bioavailability was 77.7, 79.0, 59.3 and 64.6 for body weight, feed conversion, carcass yield and breast meat yield, respectively. The bioavailability of MHA-FA for carcass yield and breast meat yield was significantly (P < 0.05) lower than that of DLM on a weight-to-weight and on equimolar basis.

This study was conducted to distinguish the effects of heat stress (HS) and feed intake (FI) on broiler chicken’s physiological responses. Day-old male Cobb 500 broilers (n = 672) were allocated to three treatments: (1) control (CTL): birds raised under normal temperature (23°C) from day 29 to 42; (2) cyclic heat stress (CHS): birds exposed to high temperatures (8 h/day at 35°C; from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm) from day 29 to 42; (3) pair-fed (PF): birds raised under thermoneutral condition but fed the same amount of feed as CHS from day 29 to 42. On day 42, 15 birds/pen were processed, to measure carcass and meat yields. To measure blood parameters and gut integrity (using fluorescein isothiocyanate-dextran), on day 42, CHS birds were sampled before (Pre-CHS) and 2 h after (Post-CHS) the temperature increased. Furthermore, after sampling CTL birds, they were exposed to 2h heat and sampled (acute heat stress, AHS). Data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA (JMP Pro15) and significance between treatments identified by LSD (P &lt; 0.05). BW and relative carcass yield were significantly higher in CTL compared to CHS and PF. Compared to CHS, PF had significantly higher BW and lower relative carcass yield. Breast yield was significantly higher for CTL and PF, while leg quarters and wings yield were significantly lower compared to CHS. Gut barrier integrity was significantly altered in Post-CHS and AHS compared to CTL. mRNA abundances of tumor necrosis factor-α, C-C motif chemokine ligand-20, heat shock protein (HSP)-27, and HSP70 were significantly higher in Post-CHS and AHS compared to CTL. AHS had significantly higher mRNA abundances of CARD domain containing (NLRC)-3 and NLRC5 inflammasomes, and lower superoxide dismutase (SOD)-1 and SOD2 abundance compared with CTL. PF had significantly higher liver weight (% BW) compared to all other groups; while abdominal fat was significantly higher in Pre-CHS compared to CTL, PF, and AHS. Together, these data indicate that the negative effects of HS are partially due to reduced FI. However, the negative effect of HS on gut integrity, average daily gain, feed conversion ratio, and meat yield are direct and independent of the reduced FI during the HS. Thus, warrant investigating the underlying mechanisms in future research.

A total of 200 Cobb 500 male broilers were randomly allocated to 4 treatments consisting of 5 replications with 10 chicks each in order to evaluate the effect of dietary garlic and thyme seed supplementation on the production performance, carcass yield and gut microbial population. Treatments were control diet (T1), control diet with 1% thyme seed powder (T2), control diet with 1% garlic powder (T3) and control diet with 0.5% thyme seed and 0.5% garlic powder (T4). Feed intake, body weight, weight gain, feed conversion ratio (FCR), carcass yield was not significantly (p>0.05) improved by dietary treatments compared to control. Escherichia coli (E. coli) count in the gut of broilers did not show significant difference among dietary treatments. However, Lactobacilli count in the gut of broilers significantly (p<0.05) increased in T2 compared to that of T1. Lactobacilli count in the gut of broilers received T1, T3 and T4 did not differ significantly (p>0.05) with each other. It was concluded that thyme seed was reliable as feed additive in the broiler diet and could provide positive advantages to the colonization and proliferation of Lactobacilli.

Here we tested how feeding with exogenous enzymes affects the performance, carcass yield, and ileal digestibility in broilers from 21- to 42-days-old. The study included 1008 male broilers randomly distributed into six diets: positive control (PC), corn and soybean meal containing all the nutritional requirements; negative control (NC), with a 120 kcal.kg-1 reduction in metabolizable energy relative to the PC; enzyme complex one (NC + 100 ppm of endo-1,4-beta-xylanase); enzyme complex two (NC + 200 ppm of xylanase, amylase and protease); enzyme blend one (NC + 100 FXU kg-1 of xylanase and 200 FXU kg-1 of amylase); and enzyme blend two (NC + 100 FXU kg-1 of xylanase and 300 FXU kg-1 of amylase). The enzyme complex two (CN + 100 FXU.kg de xilanase e 300 FXU.kg de amilase) and enzyme blend two (NC + 100 FXU kg-1 of xylanase and 300 FXU kg-1 of amylase) had greater weight gain, feed conversion, carcass yield, and digestibility of nutrients than the NC (P < 0,05). We found that enzyme complex two and enzyme blend two valued their nutritional matrix promoting better performance and digestibility of broilers.
