Effective E-Learning Approaches to Teaching and Learning of Islamic History and Civilization in Malaysia and the Muslim World

The paper discusses a study on the concept and effective e-learning approaches in the teaching and learning of Islamic History and Civilization in the Integrated Curriculum for Secondary School (ICSS), Malaysia. The study involved about fourhundred students from the selected secondary schools in Malaysia. The data werecollected through the questionnaires, observation, and interviews. The study discovered that the e-learning method may provide various opportunities to the students in Malaysia to access the enormous Islamic heritage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This may enhance their knowledge, understanding of the facts, and appreciation of the revealed artifacts and evidences of the truth of Islam.In fact, the e-learning approach is substantially suitable to be used as instructional instrument in distance education at all levels of education, particularly between Malaysia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries around the world.

With the rapid rate of innovation in software engineering, teaching and learning of new technologies have become challenging issues. The provision of appropriate education is a key prerequisite for benefiting from new technologies. Experience shows that typical classroom education is not as effective and efficient as it could be. E-learning approaches seem to be a promising solution but e-learning holds problems such as a lack of social communication or loose control on learning progress. This chapter describes a blended learning approach that mixes traditional classroom education with e-learning and that makes use of tightly integrated coaching activities. The concrete effects and enabling factors of this approach are discussed by means of an industrial case study. The results of the study indicate that following a blended learning approach has a positive impact on learning time, effectiveness and sustainability.

The study aimed to measure the effectiveness of e-learning in developing scientific research skills for high female school students in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the study relied on the semi-experimental Method in order to reveal the effectiveness of the independent variable (e-learning) on ​​the dependent variable which is (the development of scientific research skills), the study population consisted of secondary school students in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the academic year 1439 ah, in the second secondary class of the twenty-fourth secondary school for girls in Dammam, and the second secondary school for girls in Dammam, as the individuals of the sample were randomly chosen, and the number of female students for whom the study was applied was (72) female students, they were divided into two groups, one is experimental and the other is a control, and the experimental group consisted of (36) female students, using e-learning program, while the control group consisted of (36) female students, using traditional learning, the study tools have been built, which are: an achievement test, a note card, and ensuring the validity and reliability of the tools, The researcher reached through the study that there is a statistically significant difference at the level (0.05) between the average scores of female students of the experimental group that use (e-learning) and the average score of female students of the control group that use (traditional learning) in the post-application of the achievement test and the observation card for scientific research skills in favor of the experimental group, The researcher recommended it through the study the need to take advantage of e-learning to teach various performance concepts and skills for high school female students.

Electronic learning or online learning is a part of recent education which is dramatically used in universities all over the world. As well as the use and integration of e-learning is at the crucial stage in all developing countries. It is the most significant part of education that enhances and improves the educational system. This paper is to examine the hindrances that influence e-learning in Nigerian university system. In order to have an inclusive research, a case study research was performed in Evangel University, Akaeze, southeast of Nigeria. The paper demonstrates similar hindrances on country side. This research is a blend of questionnaires and interviews, the questionnaires was distributed to lecturers and an interview was conducted with management and information technology unit. Research had shown the use of e-learning in university education which has influenced effectively and efficiently the education system and that the University education in Nigeria is at the crucial stage of e-learning. Hence, some of the hindrances are avoiding unbeaten integration of e-learning. The aim of this research is to unravel the barriers that impede the integration of e-learning in universities in Nigeria. Nevertheless, e-learning has modified the teaching and learning approach but integration is faced with many challenges in Nigerian University.

The COVID-19 pandemic literally stopped most human movement and activities as it initially spread, which included dental practices and dental education. This defined the need for significative changes in teaching and learning with the use of “e-learning” methods, also for traineeships. This study was designed to determine the undergraduate student perception of these new methods as part of their education. This involved 353 students attending the Dental School of the G. D’Annunzio University of Chieti–Pescara, from the first to the sixth years. A questionnaire in Italian and was set-up using “Google Forms” and sent by email to the students. The questionnaire was divided into three parts: the first part included questions for general information, including age, sex and year of course; the second part had multiple choice questions related to their evaluation of the e-learning teaching, using a scale of opinion in the replies to each question (e.g., “scarce”, “fair”, “satisfying”, “very good” and “excellent”); and the third part included two open questions to indicate the strengths and limitations of these new teaching and learning approaches. The categorical variables in the first and second parts of the questionnaire were evaluated using Chi squared tests, setting significance at p < 0.05, while the comments were evaluated qualitatively. The student feedback showed significant appreciation (p < 0.05) of the new methods and the efforts that the lecturers put in to provide lectures of as high a quality as possible. However, a lack of practical training was significantly perceived as an important problem in the structure of their new curriculum (p < 0.05). COVID-19 has been an epic tragedy that has hit the human population not only in terms of health and healthcare, but also quality of life. This includes the quality of dental education within universities. However, the pandemic can be seen to also represent motivation to invest in the necessary technological innovation to deliver the best possible education to our future dentists.

<span>In this paper, we share two blended learning approaches used at the National Institute of Education in Singapore. We have been using these two approaches in the last twelve years in many courses ranging from the diploma to graduate programs. For the first blended learning approach, we integrated one asynchronous communication tool with face to face tutorials, classroom discussions, and a reflection session. For the second blended learning approach, we integrated two asynchronous tools with face to face tutorials in a course. We discuss the theoretical foundation of the two blended learning approaches. In addition, we share insights from these two blended learning approaches, based on the students' data (online postings, questionnaires, reflection logs, and interviews), as well as our own reflections. Finally, we describe and discuss several important lessons learned that could inform the design of future instructional strategies in implementing blended learning in university teaching and learning settings.</span>

Research Goal: To measure the effectiveness of the use of a proposed training program based on active learning to develop teaching skills of Shari'a Sciences’ teachers and their attitudes towards it at the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Research depended on the descriptive approach during building the program that based on active learning strategies, as assign experimental method when applying the program to identify its effectiveness in developing teaching of Shari'a Sciences’ teachers for the secondary school in the city of Medina and their attitudes toward it in teaching. Research instruments: The Card Note of teaching skills consisted of (45) sub-skill divided into three main areas which are (planning, implementation and evaluation). The measure of the attitude towards active learning in teaching included (26) phrases, therefore, the program is based on active learning in developing the teaching skills. After the researcher has checked the sincerity of research instruments, he began to be apply it to a stratified random sample, which consisted of (34) teachers of Shari'a Sciences’ teachers for the secondary school. The research contain a number of appropriate statistical methods, which are arithmetic averages, standard deviations, (T) test for the associated groups, the coefficient of Peerson, ETA square, the equation of the Blak, the coefficient of alpha Cronbach and the equation of Cooper. After conducting statistical analyzes, the research found the existence of Statistical differences among the average performance of the research sample in the Card Note of teaching skills in (planning, implementation and evaluation) Separated and combined in the light of active learning before and after the proposed training program for the benefit of the telemetric. In the light of the findings, the research recommended: Taking advantage of the current research program in training Shari'a Sciences’ teachers in different stages of education, especially Secondary School Teachers, because of its positive impact on the development of their teaching skills, and benefit from the list of teaching skills of the current research when assessing teachers' performance during service.   ، ، ،

Purpose: There are several teaching and learning approaches but finding the one that is appropriate for a particular field or training program is an arduous task. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the “Skill Based Qualitative Learning Approach” (SBQLA) in training health professionals.Description: The SBQLA is a pedagogical approach via which learners are trained in developing qualitative questionnaires and interview skills to learn from experts in the Public Health (PH) field. This teaching approach arms students with interview skills that help them identify and address PH roadblocks and get them authentic information from experts. It also equips them with techniques on how to do formalized presentations and come up with projects and interventions that help mitigate and eliminate drivers of health problems among women, children and families.Assessment: Learners' field experiences are shared in a professional presentation style in a class to help trainees benefit from each other's information and to get formalized feedback on their presentation. Assessment in this learning approach is based on a synthesis and an analysis of data collected from professionals.Conclusion: Findings from this learning approach enables experts to shed light on true stories shared by real and authentic individuals whose faces can be associated with their shared experiences. This learning approach makes it possible for trainees to also initiate projects that help them tackle existing and emerging public health issues in their future work.

Constructivist instructional design (ID) models have emerged with more frequencywithin e-learning. These models offer guiding principles congruent with construc-tivist approaches to teaching and learning. Although constructivist ID modelsshare common principles, each model also offers a unique approach to e-learningbased on its context of development. Consequently, certain models will also bemore authentic and meaningful for a particular situation depending on their com-patibility to that particular context. If that context can be understood, then direc-tion can be given as to the best application for the model. This chapter introducesactivity theory (AT) as a lens from which to understand the context of constructivistID model development in e-learning. It argues that ATprovides a suitable frame-work for naturalistic inquiry within complex settings and establishes a languagefrom which a better comparison of context can occur.
