Science does not occupy a prominent place on Spanish television, possibly due to those in charge of the creation, production, organization, and programming of content. Previous research has shown that television executives have mental images of their audiences that they actively use in their professional practice. This study adopts a mixed, qualitative-quantitative method to determine the beliefs of Spanish television executives regarding the attitudes of their audiences toward scientific programs and content. The study began with two focus groups, each made up of five professionals, to identify a wide range of attitudes. A Likert-scale questionnaire was then applied to examine the level of agreement with those attitudes among 450 employees of different types of private and public networks from six different regions of Spain. The main findings are that Spanish television managers do not believe that their viewers enjoy scientific topics or have any interest in them. However, professionals with previous experience of the production of scientific content tend to have a slightly more positive attitude about the opinion of general audiences regarding televised science. Hence, familiarity with televised science positively impacts the appreciation of such content on television. This research highlights the fundamental role of network managers in explaining the lack of science on Spanish media. Its results are coherent with previous studies confirming that TV professionals have preconceived images about their audiences that are derived from their own preferences and that guide their decisions.

AbstractThe professional practice of architecture, involves by its nature, some important consequences such as liability burdens, being also the Civil, one of the most important. In general in Europe, there is a great heterogeneity dealing with what to do as an architect, since it varies from a purely artistic vision, to a more technical and constructive one, representing different professional concepts under a common denomination throughout the continent. This leads to the existence of different types of professionals since they receive different types of training, which ultimately does not allow everyone to assume the same types of responsibility. The same situation is observed in relation to the civil liability insurances contracted by these professionals, which have a great variation in terms of their characteristics. These problems do not yet have specific regulations that regulate it, so it is a situation of great importance for the community society. For all this, is that this analysis will study several concepts related to reality on the title and role of the architect in Europe.

Aragonite plays an important role in the biomineralization of serpulid polychaetes. Aragonitic structures are present in a wide range of serpulid species, but they mostly belong to one clade. Aragonitic structures are present in a wide range of marine environments, including the deep ocean. Aragonitic tube microstructures were studied using a scanning electron microscope. X-ray powder diffraction was used to identify the aragonite. Aragonite is used to build five different types of microstructures in serpulid tubes. The most common aragonitic irregularly oriented prismatic structure (AIOP) is also, evolutionarily, the most primitive. Some aragonitic microstructures, such as the spherulitic prismatic (SPHP) structure, have likely evolved from the AIOP structure. Aragonitic microstructures in serpulids are far less numerous than calcitic microstructures, and they lack the complexity of advanced calcitic microstructures. The reason why aragonitic microstructures have remained less evolvable than calcitic microstructures is currently unknown, considering their fit with the current aragonite sea conditions (Paleogene–recent).

Unique and desirable properties of composites, converted them to one of the favorablematerials in a wide range of applications. At present, various composites are utilized in aircraftinterior such as overhead bins, side walls, ceiling and bulkheads. Since adhesively bondedcomposite joints play crucial role in performance of various engineering components, manufacturing of the joints is an important issue. In the present work, an overview of compositesandwich joints is presented, and different types of defects on this component are outlined. Later, some techniques for detection of defects in the sandwich-structured composites are mentioned. Moreover, as a case study, strength and fracture of sandwich T-joints with and withoutmanufacturing defects are compared. The case study proved the role of manufacturing defects inunfavorable performance of the joints. Results of the case study indicated that it is necessary to usedifferent advanced techniques to investigate and assess performance of sandwich joints prior totheir utilization. Concerning to high applications of sandwich composite joints and limitations ofnondestructive tests, there is still a potential to provide a method or a technique which wouldestimate performance of the joints under different loading conditions.

Professional coaching career is associated with a wide range of issues and problems which need to be solved and are directly or indirectly determined by creative activity. Therefore, an appropriate training process of students, in particular prospective coaches, is an essential scientific and practical problem. The article presents a thorough psychological analysis of the structure of decision-making in extreme situations and identifies different types of non-standard situations in a coaching job. Also, it clarifies such concepts as “situation”, “non-standard situation” and “extreme situation” in the activity of the individual. It describes different types of non-standard situations which can be manifested in professional coaching and their impact on the human psyche. It analyzes extreme conditions in the activities of athletes and coaches and the role of various mental functions and personality traits in problem-solving. Importantly, the article emphasizes the role of the coach’s reflection and self-regulation in solving non-standard tasks under non-standard conditions. It indicates that two theoretical views on the nature of the human psyche and thinking correspond to two approaches to studying this particular problem. According to the first one, that is an adaptive approach, creative thinking as a form of behaviour is the result of learning, and only some individuals have creative ability. To teach creativity, however, one needs to include the elements of creative behaviour (problem-solving) and heuristics in the educational material. Another approach assumes that thinking is a productive process emerging as a result of a certain problematic situation. Prerequisites for the creative process are cognitive abilities and research activities of the individual.

Prolactin is synthesize by the anterior pituitary gland, by extrapituitary tissues, such as the mammary gland, prostate, skin and brain. It has been relateding to lactogenesis, however, it is known to induce a wide range of functions in different tissues, modulating neurogenesis, neurodevelopment, sleep, learning, memory and homeostasis of the immune system, and may be linked to different types of cancers. The objective was to identify the new insights of the prolactinemia as a biomarker or inducer of pathological processes. During lactation, prolactin promotes milk synthesis and oxytocin stimulates ejection, its increase may come from mechanisms such as nipple sucking stimulus, stress, sexual activity, protein intake, unregulated menstrual cycle and pregnancy, pharmacological or pathological origins. Prostate and breast cancers can be treated using methods to antagonize the PRL receptor and its signaling pathways, which include small molecule-based antagonists of proteins. Drugs to lower the plasma concentration of prolactin are strong candidates to be test in reuse clinical trials to improve the cognitive skills of patients with mood disorder and schizophrenia. Keeping up to date on research, in addition to seeking to evaluate all the variables and biomarkers available for the case, can increase the chance of making an early diagnosis.

The valuation of a (non-totalitarian) shareholding in capital stock is characterized by some critical conditions, which are mainly related to the fact that the transfer or acquisition of the same can determine the transfer of control from one subject to another. It follows that the value of the investment can not simply be equal to the proportional value of the share capital, but should include premiums or discounts. Discounts and premiums do not just affect the value of a company; they play a crucial role in influencing a host of other factors and conditions that can make or break a deal. When it comes to business valuations, it is the business appraiser’s responsibility to be intimately knowledgeable with every aspect of discounts and premiums: the different types, the situations when they may or may not apply, and how to quantify them. The paper has a twofold approach: on the one hand, it analyzes the main reference literature on the definition and characteristics of premiums and discounts and the recognition and quantification of the same; on the other, subsequently, it examines the behavior adopted by the Italian professional practice in recognition and appreciation of prizes and discounts.

PurposeLean remains popular in a wide range of private and public sectors and continues to attract a significant amount of research. However, most of this research is not grounded in theory. This paper presents and discusses different expert viewpoints on the role of theory in lean research and practice and provides guidelines for future research.Design/methodology/approachSeven experienced lean authors independently provide their views to the question “is Lean a theory?” before Rachna Shah summarizes the viewpoints and provides a holistic outlook for lean research.FindingsAuthors agree, disagree and sometimes agree to disagree. However, a close look reveals agreement on several key points. The paper concludes that Lean is not a theory but has plenty of theoretical underpinnings. Many lean-related theories provide promising opportunities for future research.Originality/valueAs researchers, we are asked to justify our research drawing on “theory,” but what does that mean for a practice-driven phenomenon such as lean? This paper provides answers and directions for future research.

Today, the consumer of banking services is actually a weak party, being in a wide range of financial (banking) relations. Due to the different status of the parties, one being able to dictate their conditions in the legal relationship and the other having no real influence on the counterparty. One of the legal guarantees is the extension of the scope of contractual freedom also to bank deposit relations, account opening and servicing, credit relations, etc. Accordingly, the limitation inherent in the very nature of contractual freedom is an integral part of it. In this connection, the role of contractual freedom in the private and public legal sphere, which is characterized by the existence of State coercion, is of particular interest. The banking sector of the economy proves the existence of contractual freedom in organic unity with its limitations. A practical problem is the effect on the contractual freedom of public authority or a body authorized to administer justice. This creates an imbalance of interest in favor of public law against private law. The purpose of the article is to study the impact, place and role of the principle of freedom of contract at the stages of conclusion, modification and termination of contracts in the branch of banking services. The article examines the relations of the bank and its clients within the framework of such contractual types (types) which are distinguished by publicity in the sense of article 633 of the Ukrainian Civil Code: bank account contract, bank deposit contract. The author’s vision of the principle of freedom of contract through the dialectic of unity of contract freedom and its limitations is presented and justified. This approach is the basis for the study of bank-client relations. The conditions for limiting the principle of freedom of contract beyond the elements of the traditional triad in the banking sphere at the stages of conclusion, performance, modification and termination are also described. The article affirms the existence of limitations to the principle of freedom of contract not only by law but also by the principles of law (general and special), by contract, by the customs of business and by the activities of the State in the form of administrative and judicial measures.
