Identifying school leadership strategies to support students learning from home during the pandemic is the core objective of this study. To answer the problem above, we have reviewed dozens of publications interested in discussing educational disruption during the outbreaks where the effect of the disruption forces students to study from home with all the problems that arise. We get the data from an online search, and we study it with a phenomenological approach. We evaluate the data with a coding system to know what and how school leadership responds to the pandemic. Based on the data and the discussion, we found that many things must and have been done by the school that does not have to wait for the direction of policy superiors from the central state. The support provided is, for example, teachers and school boards assisting students and guiding how to prevent students and parents from panicking through the disrupted period of the pandemic. Schools do not force students with assignments and work, but teachers should encourage collaborative learning with parents while maintaining progress. Thus, we hope this study is helpful to many parties.

<p>The article captures important trends and tendencies in public governance and thus in conditions for school leadership. The general movement towards Globalization influences the core trends in national policies and in public governance. But international discourses and practices are formed in national or regional contexts of culture, practice and politics. The author is part of a Nordic context and therefore he observes governance and leadership from this point. But it is possible to translate the analyses to other contexts as well. An analyse of some of the effects of the meetings of transnational influences with national values and practises are discussed in the case of Danish education and school leadership. School leaders are left with a number of dilemmas between traditional, welfare state values and neo-liberal values. They have to find locally satisfying balances between academic proficiencies and competences of curiosity and deliberation.</p>

This study aims to describe the pattern and leadership strategies of principals in elementary schools in dealing with the crisis in the Covid-19 pandemic.  The method used in this study is qualitatively descriptive. The subject of this study was the principal and teacher at Sabilal Muhtadin Elementary School in Banjarmasin City. The data collection techniques used are interviews, observations, and documentation studies.  Test the validity of the data using the triangulation technique. Data analysis uses Miles & Huberman analysis techniques that consist of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. This research shows that the principal has a working philosophy that is to work for worship. Strategies implemented in its leadership include transparency, empowerment of teachers and employees, communication, and motivation. The conclusion is that elementary school principal Sabilal Muhtadin is transformational leadership based on Islam. The strategies used for its implementation are transparency, empowerment of teachers and employees, communication, and motivation to maintain excellence when facing crises in the Covid-19 pandemic.

As programming is one of the core subjects for BSc IT students, it is vital for them to have programming skill. However, students are often terrified of programming since it is a challenging subject. Traditionally, the programming teaching and learning process are limited to lectures and lab exercises. This approach is no longer appropriate in today's learning environment and required skills in the 21st century. Collaborative learning is acknowledged as an approach that fits the programming students. Thus, this chapter has adapted the collaborative approach in Programming 1 class. Three techniques were applied namely problem-based learning, buzz groups, and pair programming. At the end of the semester, an online survey to obtain students' opinions and a focus group discussion were conducted. In addition, the examination results of the repeaters were also compared. Results from the survey and focus group indicate that the collaborative approach is able to increase students' interest and the grade of the repeaters in the Programming 1 subject.

In the context of distributed collaborative learning, it is usually difficult for students to be aware of others’ activities and for instructors to overview the process and regulate the collaboration. In order to facilitate collaborative learning, intelligent agents were developed to support the awareness and regulation of the collaboration. This chapter discusses the facilitation role of intelligent agents and how they support students and instructors in distributed collaborative-learning environments. By monitoring the collaboration, the agents compute statistics, detect possible problems, and give advice synchronously and asynchronously to the students and instructor based on their activities and requests. In so doing, the agents not only help students to self-regulate their activities but also help instructors to maintain an overview of the collaboration so that they can intervene when necessary.

Purpose —The purpose of this paper is to explore the experience of the weight of a backpack as represented in typical Chinese children's songs through a kind of phenomenological approach. Design/Approach/Methods —The core issue pertaining to Chinese children's songs about backpacks is how the weight sense of backpacks is generated and developed in the field of song phenomenology. Findings —The “whatness” of a backpack in typical songs has varied over the past six decades, meanwhile, the backpack and its songs conceal not only the secrets of childhood but also those of China's educational system. Originality/Value —The originality of this paper embodies the unique perspective to provide a new insight into the current scholarship of the micro-politics of song-singing and the weight sense of backpack.

PurposeIn this paper, we describe the impact of COVID-19 on principals and their work. Drawing on prior research undertaken prior to the onset of the pandemic, we describe how principals were already grappling with difficult tensions associated with their expertise, autonomy, normative orientation and rewards that may have real implications for their work moving forward and how, in the current context of uncertainty and change we believe the issue of principal professionalism requires our collective attention and action.Design/methodology/approachOver the last year, we undertook a multistate qualitative study of 17 school leaders to explore how principals working in traditional public schools conceptualize the principal profession and their role within it. Briefly, we found that the principalship is an “emergent profession” characterized by shared but individually determined knowledge and skills; a normative orientation of service; confused notions of external expectations and rewards and ongoing tensions among all of these elements.FindingsProfessionalism may be a surprising lever for improving the capacity of school leadership. Through our research, we identified that little is known about professionalism as it relates to the unique work of school leaders, but that understanding more about it could lead to greater knowledge of how to encourage and retain them. In the current context of uncertainty, chaos and change, the pressure on leaders to stay in the role and to succeed has never been greater. Thus, it is critical that principals have the capacity to exert professionalism over their work and to have greater say in elements of it, recognizing that some decisions must be made at district, state and federal levels.Originality/valueWhile many studies investigate how teachers of various backgrounds and in different contexts think about teaching as a profession (e.g. Anderson and Cohen, 2015; Stone-Johnson, 2014b; Torres and Weiner, 2018; Hall and McGinty, 2015), we had difficulty identifying studies focused on principals and using frameworks of professionalism to understand how these activities reflect larger shifts in the profession itself. This is despite the changing nature of principals' work, which, like the work of teachers, has been and continues to be largely influenced by the increasing role of neoliberal principles and policies in education. The public nature of the work of school leadership and the potential to support students, families and the communities in which they live brings in sharp focus the necessity of greater understanding of it during the COVID-19 crisis.
