This research aims to improve critical thinking skills on thematic learning of fourth-grade elementary school through discovery learning model. The design of the study was based on classroom action research by Kemmis & McTaggart with two cycles. This research procedure was done by implementing discovery learning model which was planned, action, observation, and reflection. The quantitative and qualitative data were compared to the data analysis technique. The sample of this research was eighteens fourth-grade public elementary school in Kutowinangun 11. The results showed that implementation discovery learning model in thematic learning could increase critical thinking skills’ student of the fourth-grade public elementary school in Kutowinangun 11with average of an increasing percentage of critical thinking skills was 16.04%, with the average score in cycle 1 was 68 and cycle 2 was 81. Increasing critical thinking skills occurs through discovery learning steps includes stimulation, problem statements, data collection, data processing, verification, and generalization.

Lack of critical thinking skills in students is a problem faced in thematic learning at SD Negeri 2 Kedungrejo. Therefore, it had an impact on low learning outcomes. From this problem, this study aims to improve critical thinking skills and learning outcomes through discovery learning model. Classroom Action Research (PTK) was used in this study. While the data collection instruments included observation sheets, test questions, and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used a comparative descriptive technique. The subjects of this study were 22 4th grade students of SD Negeri 2 Kedungrejo. The results of this study indicated an improvement of critical thinking skills and students’ learning outcomes. This can be proven by the average value of students' critical thinking skills in cycle I of 54.67% and increased again in cycle II by 69.84%. Whereas for students’ learning outcomes, in cycle I showed students’ average score of 70. Moreover, it increased by an average value of 80 in cycle II. To sum up, these results showed that applying discovery learning model in the online learning process were able to improve students’ critical thinking skills and learning outcomes.

Discovery learning is a learning situation on wich the principle content of what is tobe learned is not give but must be independly discovered by student. The effectiveness of guided discovery learning model to improve students’ critical thinking skills uses 6 indicators, are: formulating problems, formulating hypotheses, analyzing date, providing alternatives, summing up, communicating and applying principle. The guided discovery learning model was included in the effective category in terms of: (a) Improvement (N-gain) of students’ critical thinking skills by 0.65 with moderate criteria and (b) Students respond positively to learning using guided discovery learning model and its learning tools on implementation.

This research was motivated by the still limited learning of mathematics as a means of supporting learning in the 2013 Curriculum. The purpose of this study was to produce some products in the form of learning devices (syllabus, RPP and LKPD) on the material for the flat side building of VIII Middle School with discovery learning models that meet valid, practical, and effective criteria for improving students mathematical critical thinking skills. Learning tools are developed using the 4-D model, which are define, design, develop and assess. The research instrument used was an instrument of validity in the form of a validation sheet to assess the feasibility of the syllabus, RPP and LKPD as well as a practical instrument in the form of a teacher observation sheet activity in applying the discovery learning model and student questionnaire responses to assess the practicality of LKPD. The results of the validation of the experts stated that the product developed reached a valid category with an average rating of 76.67% for syllabus, 76.67% for RPP and 88.04% for LKPD. Learning devices are considered very practical in small group trials with an average response of 96.44% students and large group trials from the observation sheet of teacher activity 93.71% and the average response of students 87.77%. The learning tools have been proved to improve students mathematical critical thinking skills in terms of an average N-gain of 0.53 in the medium category.

This study aims to describe the impact of online mentoring activities in implementing the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, and Create) learning model on the competence of elementary school teachers in training students’ critical thinking skills. The method was a pre-experiment with a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 25 elementary school teachers in Indonesia. The teachers received online mentoring in implementing RADEC learning model. The research instrument was a questionnaire to measure teachers’ knowledge and skills in training critical thinking. The data processing technique was carried out by calculating the mean and the percentage of each item to obtain a description of the teachers’ knowledge and skills in training students’ critical thinking before and after treatment. The data were analyzed inferentially with a paired sample t-test using SPSS version 22 software to see the impact of the treatment on teachers’ competence in training critical thinking. Based on the results of the paired-sample t-test, for both the knowledge and skills aspects, the probability value (sig) was 0.00 <0.05. This result means that there was a significant difference in the knowledge and skills of teachers in training students’ critical thinking skills before and after mentoring activities. The study results indicate that the online mentoring in implementing the RADEC learning model improved teachers’ competence in training elementary school students’ critical thinking skills.

This study aims to: (1) Know the development process and (2) increase the critical thinking skills of class XI TKJ students of SMK Bina Teknologi Purwokerto on bandwidth management material.

This research is a Classroom Action Research which was conducted from 27 October 2020 to 23 November 2020. The stages of the research consisted of planning, action, observation and reflection. The research was conducted in 3 cycles, each of which consisted of one meeting. The research instrument consisted of observation sheets and tests of students' critical thinking skills. Learning in this study uses the Problem Based Learning learning model. The action of data analysis used data from observations and the process of analyzing data from the test results of students' critical thinking skills.

Before the implementation of the Problem Based Learning learning model for XI TKJ students, data was obtained with an average grade XI TKJ grade 54 and the completeness of students who had a score above 36% KKM. After applying the Problem Based Learning model in cycle 1, the class average increase to 60.04 and the completeness of students who have a score above the KKM is 44%. Then it has increased after cycle 2 with an average class score of 69.72 and completeness of students who have scores above the KKM 64%. Then it has increased after cycle 3 with an average class score of 76.72 and the completeness of students who have a score above the KKM of 80%. Thus it can be said that the application of the Problem Based Learning learning model can improve students' critical thinking skills.

Keywords: critical thinking, problem based learning model, classroom action research,

This study aims to improve critical thinking skills and mathematics learning outcomes of fourth-grade students of SD Tingkir Tengah 02 Salatiga in the second semester of the 2018/2019 academic year. Critical thinking and learning outcomes are low because the teacher uses the lecture method. The author chooses the Open-Ended model assisted by powerpoint media as a solution. Research procedures include planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results showed an increase from the initial condition with 9 students or 25.71% completed and 29 students or 74.29% not complete. The implementation of the first cycle results obtained 29 students or 82.86% completed and 6 students or 17.14% did not complete. Cycle II as a follow-up and improvement of the first cycle with the acquisition of achieving attainment of 35 students or 100%. The results obtained by the conclusion of the application of Open-Ended learning assisted by powerpoint media can improve critical thinking skills and mathematics learning outcomes of fourth-grade students of SD Tingkir Tengah 02 Salatiga second semester of the 2018/2019 academic year.
