Engineering thermophysics is a technical science which studies the law of energy transformation in the form of heat and its application. It studies the internal laws of various thermal phenomena and thermal processes, and can be used to guide engineering practice. FLUENT is a tool course that plays a great role in assisting with the simulation of some devices in engineering thermophysics and fluids. However, in the process of learning simulation, students have had difficulty in mastering the FLUENT software and this paper proposes some constructive suggestions for measures to increase students' mastery of this software.

Within the scope of the research work, we have developed the methods and software package for solving the conjugate heat and hydraulic problems based on the classical approach to performing hydraulic calculations and modeling thermal processes by means of the finite volume method in the ANSYS Fluent software package. The developed means allowed us to efficiently calculate the thermal state of complex technical objects. The study gives mathematical formulation of the methods and suggests the results of their approbation and verification

AbstractThe aim of the paper was to work out a new comprehensive methodology to monitor thermal activity at mine waste dumps. The methodology was tested through monitoring thermal phenomena occurring in the areas of extractive waste dumping facilities located in the Upper Silesian Coal Basin, Poland. Within the framework of the study, a comparative analysis of three waste dumps was performed; the first two of them, which were not previously reclaimed, are in part thermally active, whereas the third one comprises one section which was partially reclaimed and another section which is still being operated. The research objective was to observe the changes of atmospheric emissions of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) from the three selected facilities within the period of 21 months of constant monitoring. The novelty of the methodology of thermal activity monitoring at burning mine waste dumps consisted in the application advanced chemometrics methods. The collected data were analyzed by means of the Hierarchical Clustering Analysis supplemented with a color map of the experimental results. Based on the newly developed methodology, it was determined that thermal processes occur in all of the three analyzed sites. The non-reclaimed waste dumps characterize of intense thermal phenomena covering the majority of the studied area. It was also observed that the most intensive thermal activity occurs in the central sections of the dumps with temperature values reaching the level of 600 °C accompanied by high emissions of PAHs. In addition, the research results demonstrate that despite the reclamation processes, there are certain areas which still remain thermally active in one of the studied extractive waste dumps. This manifested itself by high measured concentrations of all the analyzed PAHs and locally increased surface temperatures which, however, did not exceed 200 °C; the majority of the areas of the reclaimed waste dump characterized of temperatures in the range of 20–30 °C.

Aspects of thermal phenomena associated with the production process of bimetallic billets in conditions of small penetration depths of eddy currents compared to the size of the heated body are considered. Various conditions of heat distribution in the heated layer and its removal are modeled using differentiated thermal resistance. Based on the analysis of the temperature distribution in various situational variants, promising ways to improve this technology are identified.

Technical science defines a lot of different factors, that they may be cause of shorter cutting tool lifetime. For increase of cutting tool durability is necessary maximally possible elimination of these factors. Determination of cutting tool durability is very important, because provides comprehensive information how to determine appropriate technological conditions for selected cutting tool. The analytical expression of dependence represents very important part of experiments, because all tested processes can be described and defined by formula. These instructions, how to proceed in experiments are obtained in standard ISO 3685. Very important and often used standard ISO in engineering practice is standard ISO 3685. The main part of this standard is T-vc dependence for cutting materials. In standard ISO 3685 are included cutting materials made of high speed steel, sintered carbide and cutting ceramic. The article describes process how to define and to analytically express T-vc dependence for cutting tools made of ceramic in machining process of steel 80MoCrV4016.

A brief introduction of Nanchang International Financial mansion manometry test model was stated first, And based on the Fluent software platforms, Wind pressure on the surface of high-rise building with the influence of adjacent buildings is simulated by computation fluid dynamics (CFD) methods. The results show that the numerical wind tunnel to some extent, more in line with the measurement results, but the errors in some parts are still large, relevant results will provide references for the research and the engineering practice.

The issues of implementation of the project "Engineering class in Moscow school" are discussed. The results of the pre-professional examination in three areas of training are presented, the low level of pre-professional knowledge was noted. The research course of solving applied problems of engineering practice with the use of modern software has not been studied. Based on the analysis of the results of pre-professional examinations in the areas of research, technology and programming, conclusions about the weak information support of the project and the unwillingness of school graduates to expand the fields of training are obtained.

In the article, the electrical and thermal processes in the LED lamp with varied parameters are investigated. Voltage and current measurements on all LEDs of the luminaire are carried out in the nominal operating mode. The power allocated to each LED is determined. The calculation of the LED crystal temperature was carried out using the developed thermal LED model based on the results of the measurements and by using “Multisim” program. It has been established that the temperature of the crystals of individual LEDs in the luminaire differ significantly, which leads to unfavourable thermal conditions for them and an increased likelihood of premature failure.
