All of the issues in this book take place in the context of a competitive, overly individualistic environment. Many educators and journalists have suggested that this is stressful to students. A study of stress in in the United States confirms that students view college application stress as detrimental to their mental health. This chapter suggests that it is incumbent upon parents and educators to lead the way in reducing the pressure, to focus more on collaboration and less on competition and individual achievement. At the same time, we need to reduce the stigma of psychological problems in order to be more humane and to encourage young people to get help when they need it.

Objective: To compare the psychological health of men with partners who have postpartum depression (PPD; index group) with that of men with partners without PPD (comparison group). Method: Using a cross-sectional survey, psychological symptoms and disturbances of index group men (n = 58) and comparison group men (n = 116) were compared. Validated self-report measures were used to assess five key areas of mental health: depression, anxiety, non-specific psychological impairment, aggression and alcohol use. Results: Index group men had more symptoms of depression, aggression and nonspecific psychological impairment, and had higher rates of depressive disorder, nonspecific psychological problems and problem fatigue than comparison group men. Index group men were also more likely to have three or more comorbid psychological disturbances. There was no difference between the groups on measures of anxiety and alcohol use. Conclusions: Although many men in the postnatal period experience a variety of mental health problems, those who have a partner with PPD are themselves at increased risk for experiencing psychological symptoms and disturbances. Differentiation of psychological syndromes is important; higher rates of depressive disorder, non-specific psychological problems and problem fatigue were found, but rates of anxiety disorder and hazardous alcohol use did not differ between the groups. More attention from health professionals to men's mental health in the postnatal period may be beneficial to the entire family system.

Nowadays, children live in the world of modern technologies, which have be-come an integral part of our daily life. Therefore, it is very important to study the influence of the digital world on the child, especially on his personality de-velopment. The impact of the digital world on personality disorder is not enough studied in the UAE and is relevant. The cause of personality disorder in an adult can be mental health problems as a child, namely, emotional instability, excessive fear and anxiety, behavioral problems. The purpose of our research is to evaluate the relationship between the dependence of children on the Internet and the mental health of a child. The study involved 463 students from public and private schools in Dubai aged from 8 to 16 years. Internet Addiction Test, IAT, C. Young (Kimberley S. Young, 1996) was used to determine the level of Internet addiction The Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ, 2015) was used to determine the degree of psychological health of a child. Pearson’s correlation analysis showed that there is a positive correlation between the level of Internet addiction and the child’s psychological health, the Pearson correla-tion coefficient is 0.63. The category of internet-addict has the highest rates on the criteria: emotional symptoms (61%), peer relationship problems (73%), hy-peractivity (33%), behavioral problems (43%). High rates of these criteria indi-cate that Internet-dependent children are characterized by aggressiveness, in-creased anxiety, depression, indifference to others, irresponsibility. In addition, they have problems with communication, excessive impulsiveness, lack of de-sire to help others. This result indicates the presence of the negative impact of excessive use of the Internet on the psychological health of the child, which can cause personality disorder.

Background: Previous studies have shown that suicide-related Internet use can have both negative and positive psychological effects. Aims: This study examined the effect of suicide-related Internet use on users’ suicidal ideation, depression/anxiety tendency, and loneliness. Method: A two-wave panel study of 850 Internet users was conducted via the Internet. Results: Suicide-related Internet use (e.g., browsing websites about suicide methods) had negative effects on suicidal ideation and depression/anxiety tendency. No forms of suicide-related Internet use, even those that would generally be considered positive, were found to decrease users’ suicidal ideation. In addition, our results suggest that the greater the suicidal ideation and feelings of depression and loneliness of Internet users, the more they used the Internet. Conclusion: Since suicide-related Internet use can adversely influence the mental health of young adults, it is necessary to take measures to reduce their exposure to such information.
