The purpose of the study was to explore the relationship of organizational politics on the performance of teaching faculty of the universities of Pakistan. The nature of the study was descriptive. The public sector universities of Punjab were the population of the study. The researchers randomly selected the four universities, i.e. the University of the Punjab Lahore, Bahaud din Zakria University Multan, Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi and The Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Two questionnaires, namely Organizational Politics by Vigoda (2007) and Teachers Performance Evaluation Scale (TPES) by Shehzad and Farooqi (2016), were adapted for the study. The statistical techniques t-test and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) were applied to analyse the data. It was inferred that organizational politics had significant impact and relationship with the performance of university teachers. It is recommended that a qualitative approach may be adopted to get a further in-depth understanding of the phenomenon.

The study aims to determine the relationship of attitude and social-norm with the intention to smoke in the future among non-smoking youth. Data were derived from a study on smoking among form four students in a selected secondary school in Peninsular Malaysia, which utilised a pre-validated questionnaire to obtain data from the selected respondents. Descriptive statistics and structural equation modelling (SEM) were used in data analysis. The study revealed independent variables accounted for 22.6% of the variance in intention to initiate smoking and the model had a good fit. A significant relationship was observed between subjective norm and intention to initiate smoking (R=0.46). The study revealed that attitude and social norm substantially explained intention to smoke among non-smoking adolescents. Future measures should concentrate on correcting the subjective norms to reduce the intention to initiate smoking among non-smoking youth.

The present study was conducted to investigate the existence of any possible relationship between the cognitive reflection test (CRT), numeracy and academic majors. The statistical population of this study consisted of 117 freshmen studying under the faculties selected from the University of Tabriz. The generalised structural equation modelling technique was employed for data analysis. The research results indicated that CRT and numeracy had positive and significant effects on high school and university program selection. According to the research model and the higher CRT scores of engineering and medicine (two popular majors) than that of other majors, it appears that individuals with higher CRT and numeracy scores are more inclined to get accepted into these programs. Moreover, the relationship between CRT and numeracy was positive and significant, where CRT acted as the cause and numeracy as the effect. However, the reverse need not necessarily be true. Keywords: Cognitive reflection, numeracy skill, academic majors, relationship.

The university-enterprise (U-E) relationship is a topic that has gathered much interest in the academic world. Universities seek to offer services and technology that help firms to build and foster a harmonious U-E relationship, allowing firms to continually renew their involvement in the relationship. This chapter seeks to analyze the role played by various factors—satisfaction, commitment as perceived by firms, perceived commitment by universities, trust, and reputation—in encouraging firms to continuously renew their involvement in the university relationship. A questionnaire was produced drawing on a literature review looking at U-E relationships, the results of which were then analyzed using partial least squares – structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM). Afyer analyzing 80 responses from firms involved in U-E relationships, it was possible to conclude that commitment of firms, reputation, and the perceived commitment of the universities are very important in the continuous participation of firms in U-E relationships.

This study explores the relationship of participative budgeting on budgetary slack in the public sector in Indonesia, by examining the roles of job satisfaction on these variables. A total of 185 budget managers of regional work units in the in North Maluku province government, Indonesia, participated in the survey. The effective rate of return was 82.52 percent.  A structural equation modeling was used to examine the direct and indirect effects of participative budgeting on budgetary slack. In particular, the study gives empirical evidences that participative budgeting factors affect budgetary slack mediated by intervening variables factors of job satisfaction. The results revealed the significantly negative effect of participative budgeting on budgetary slack, the significantly positive effect of participative budgeting on job satisfaction. This result affirmed the significantly negative impact of job satisfaction as a mediating variables on budgetary slack. However, the results could not find the indication of moderating effect of job satisfaction in the relationship of these variables.

The study is an empirical exploration into TQM practices in Pakistani higher education with a focus on determining relationship between the variables: Knowledge Management (KM) and Organizational Culture (OC) in the context of higher education in Pakistan. It employed a quantitative paradigm to the investigation with correlational design. All the university teachers comprised the population of this study. Six public sector universities of Punjab were randomly selected. The results of the analysis showed all the three variables summed mean as 3.41, 3.3, 3.5 respectively all indicating a minor level of the presence of the TQM practices. OC showed relatively higher favorable response. The inferential statistics revealed that the relationship between OC and KM was positive, moderate and statistically significant (r=.491, p<.05). Demographical variables included respondents gender, qualification, experience. Gender and Qualification was found to have no influence on KM and OC, while experience showed significant effect on the two variables.

New technologies, an expanding universe of knowledge, and a more sophisticated user base influence not only how we provide access to information, but also how we define and organize ourselves in relation to the public. The J. Murrey Atkins Library of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte has endeavored to strengthen the relationship between the library and the teaching faculty by restructuring the library’s liaison program. Concurrently, but independent of this redesign, three experienced reference librarians assessed their effectiveness as liaisons by conducting a survey of selected departments. A review of the development and implementation of the library’s program, together with an assessment of the faculty survey, confirm that specific elements are prerequisites of an effective liaison program.

PurposeResilience is the ability to recover and once again adapt former behaviours that have characterized an individual, prior to the period of disruption. It requires various qualities, resources and power to recover immediately after a traumatic event and is found related to a number of variables and concepts. The purpose of the study is to examine the relationship of long-term orientation and risk propensity on resilience using structural equation modelling (SEM).Design/methodology/approachR Program was used to perform SEM on the data collected online from 357 samples using three standardized questionnaires to measure long-term orientation, risk propensity and resilience.FindingsIt was found that long-term orientation and its factors, respect for tradition and planning, were having a positive relationship with resilience. No relationship was found between risk propensity and resilience.Originality/valueA fair review of literature has found that no previous studies have examined the relationship between long-term orientation and risk propensity on resilience. The present study is a modest effort towards this direction. The findings are indeed significant and contribute substantially to literature.

ABSTRACT       This study aims to examine tax information dissemination and tax knowledge on tax compliance. The method used in this study is a survey of taxpayers in Batam State Polytechnic. The analytical tool used is Structural Equation Modeling - Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) using WarpPLS 6.0 software. H2 in this study is supported, tax socialization directly influences the significance of tax compliance P <0.01 with R2 value of 28%. Tax knowledge has an effect on tax compliance with a significance value of P <0.01 with R2 value of 0.27 so that it supports H2. Knowledge of taxation partially mediates the effect of taxation socialization on tax compliance, the form of partial mediation shows that knowledge is not the only mediator of the relationship of socialization to tax compliance but there are other mediators.
