Mountain torrents disasters have become one of the main types of natural disasters in the world and causes a large number of casualties and economic losses. The construction of mountain torrents disaster mass monitoring and prevention system is an important part of mountain torrents disaster prevention and control construction in China. This paper introduces the main contents of the mass monitoring and prevention system, investigates the causes of mountain torrents disasters in Xiaodianwu, Kecheng District , analyzes the function of the forecasting and early warning measures, explores the successful experience of disaster avoidance, and provides reference for the improvement of mountain torrents disaster defense capabilities. In the process of defensing the mountain torrents disasters in Xiaodianwu, the village-level inspectors carried out on-site inspections in the rain and immediately organized door-to-door warnings and personnel transfers after discovering the danger, gaining valuable time for the successful avoidance of danger. The effective connection and close cooperation of the work chain at the provincial, city, county, and village levels were the key to the successful avoidance of this mountain torrent disaster.

AbstractBackgroundMyiasis due to Old World screw-worm fly,Chrysomya bezziana, is an important obligate zoonotic disease in the OIE-list of diseases and is found throughout much of Africa, the Indian subcontinent, southeast and east Asia.C. bezzianamyiases cause not only morbidity and death to animals and humans, but also economic losses in the livestock industries. Because of the aggressive and destructive nature of this disease in hosts, we initiated this study to provide a comprehensive understanding of human myiasis caused byC. bezziana.MethodsWe conducted a systematic search of the databases in English (PubMed, Embase and African Index Medicus) and Chinese (CNKI, Wanfang, and Duxiu), and international government online reports to 6thFebruary, 2019, to identify studies concerningChrysomya bezziana. Another ten human cases in China and Papua New Guinea that our team had recorded were also included.ResultsWe retrieved 1,048 reports from which 202 studies were ultimately eligible for inclusion in the present descriptive analyses. Since the first human case due toC. bezzianawas reported in 1909, we have summarized 291 cases and found that these cases often occurred in poor hygiene, low socio-economic conditions, old age, and underlying diseases including infections, age-related diseases, and noninfectious chronic diseases. ButC. bezzianamyiasis appears largely neglected as a serious medical or veterinary condition, with human and animal cases only reported in 16 and 24 countries respectively, despite this fly species recorded as present in 44 countries worldwide.ConclusionOur findings indicate that cryptic myiasis cases due to the obligate parasite,C. bezziana, are under-recognized. Through this in-depth study to clarify the knowledge of humanC. bezzianamyiasis including its etiology, clinical features, diagnosis, treatment, epidemiology, prevention and control, we call for more vigilance and awareness of the disease from governments, health authorities, clinicians, veterinary workers, nursing homes, and also the general public.Author summaryChrysomya bezzianalarvae are characterized by feeding aggressively on the living tissues and body fluids of the host. The nightmare-like feelings of patients suffering from this myiasis, severe tissues and bones destruction, even death, and enormous economic loss in the livestock industries have been described in the previous reports. But our findings indicate thatC. bezzianamyiases still appear to be under-recognized as a serious medical or veterinary condition throughout the world. Both in China and the world at large, it is probable thatC. bezzianadistribution could be greater than currently reported. For the first time, we have therefore systematically investigated human myiasis caused byC. bezziana. Our study provides an opportunity for clinicians and health authorities to gain a better understanding of this disease from its etiology, pathology, clinical features, diagnosis, treatment, epidemiology, prevention and control. In addition, our findings will hopefully engage governments, health staff, veterinary workers, the elderly homes, and also the general public in efforts to recognize, prevent and control such infestations.

Invasive species, those that are nonnative and cause economic damage, are one of the main threats to ecosystems around the world. Ambrosia beetles are some of the most common invasive insects. Currently, severe economic impacts have been increasingly reported for all the invasive shot hole borers in South Africa, California, Israel, and throughout Asia. This 7-page fact sheet written by Demian F. Gomez, Jiri Hulcr, and Daniel Carrillo and published by the School of Forest Resources and Conservation describes shot hole borers and their biology and hosts and lists some strategies for prevention and control of these pests. http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/fr422

Dengue fever is a painful mosquito-borne infection caused by different types of virus in various localities of the world. There is no particular medicine or vaccine to treat person suffering from dengue fever. Dengue viruses are transmitted by the bite of female Aedes (Ae) mosquitoes. Dengue fever viruses are mainly transmitted by Aedes which can be active in tropical or subtropical climates. Aedes Aegypti is the key step to avoid infection transmission to save millions of people in all over the world. This paper provides a standard guideline in the planning of dengue prevention and control measures. At the same time gives the priorities including clinical management and hospitalized dengue patients have to address essentially.

In Uruguay, as well as in other regions of the world, IAS cause negative impacts on natural and managed ecosystems. The use of databases is a helpful tool to elaborate different strategies for prevention and control, and to develop policies and scientific analyses related to IAS. The database of IAS in Uruguay (InBUy) was developed during two time periods (2006-2007 and 2009-2010). It currently contains information on 33 specialists of different taxonomic groups, 14 research projects, 185 references, 351 species and 4,715 records, with vascular plants having both the highest number of species and records. Among vascular plants, herbaceous life forms are the most strongly represented, followed by trees and shrubs. Within animals, the fishes and mollusks are the most important groups. Analysis of the native distribution areas of IAS showed that most are indigenous from Europe, followed by Asia and Oceania. Data showed that introductions of IAS into Uruguay are mainly intentional (67%), so efforts should be focused on policies and rules in order to control the entrance of exotic organisms and prevent new invasions. The geography of the compiled dataset shows the main impact is along the coastline, where the highest exotic species richness and records occurs, and also the most biological invasions. The InBUy database is up-to-date and has successfully contributed to the creation of an official IAS list for Uruguay and both a National and a Coastal Geographic Information System. It has also been used for developing consciousness about this important threat to biodiversity, at both national and regional scales.

In the study of the mid-long-term early warning of landslide, the computational efficiency of the prediction model is critical to the timeliness of landslide prevention and control. Accordingly, enhancing the computational efficiency of the prediction model is of practical implication to the mid-long-term prevention and control of landslides. When the Apriori algorithm is adopted to analyze landslide data based on the MapReduce framework, numerous frequent item-sets will be generated, adversely affecting the computational efficiency. To enhance the computational efficiency of the prediction model, the IAprioriMR algorithm is proposed in this paper to enhance the efficiency of the Apriori algorithm based on the MapReduce framework by simplifying operations of the frequent item-sets. The computational efficiencies of the IAprioriMR algorithm and the original AprioriMR algorithm were compared and analyzed in the case of different data quantities and nodes, and then the efficiency of IAprioriMR algorithm was verified to be enhanced to some extent in processing large-scale data. To verify the feasibility of the proposed algorithm, the algorithm was employed in the mid-long-term early warning study of landslides in the Three Parallel Rivers. Under the same conditions, IAprioriMR algorithm of the same rule exhibited higher confidence than FP-Growth algorithm, which implied that IAprioriMR can achieve more accurate landslide prediction. This method is capable of technically supporting the prevention and control of landslides.
