This paper reviews the concept of Islamic education thinking Hasyim Ash'ari which explains about how the rules of teaching and learning that emphasizes the ethical aspects of learning. The concept of Islamic education Hasyim Ash'ari is one of the bids in overcoming the spiritual crisis in the world of education today. Hasyim Asy'ari's educational thought does have high spiritual values of Sufism. This is due, Hasyim Asy'ari put tasawuf as the foundation of education in shaping the character of learners who berakhlatul karimah and intlektual. The concept of Islamic education Hayim Ash'ari, if associated with the Concept of Sufism Ahmad Khatib Al-Sambasi not only complement each other but strengthen the theory of Islamic education Hasyim Asy'ari. Hashim Asy'ari's education theory is very relevant in shaping the character of learners in their morals, intellectual and spirituality in this modern era. Modern education today, tends to emphasize the cognitive aspect although in educational theory there are elements of cognitive, affective and psychomotor aspects. This is what resulted in the lack of "blessing" knowledge of learners in gaining knowledge. One of the most important parts to be considered and emphasized in addition to the cognitive aspect is the affective aspect (spirituality and ethics) in the teaching and learning process, whether as a teacher or pupil in education. It is time for education to focus on affective aspects (moral, ethical and spiritual). Spiritual, ethical and moral crises are an important study in the world of education, especially Islamic-based education.

The subject of alignment is not new to the world of education. Today however, it has come to mean different things and to have a heuristic value in education according to research in different areas, not least for neuroscience, and to attention to skills and to the alternation framework. This paper, after looking at the classic references that already attributed an important role to alignment in education processes, looks at the strategic role of alignment in the current context, outlining the shared construction processes and focusing on some of the ways in which this is put into effect.Alignment is part of a participatory, enactive approach that gives a central role to the interaction between teaching and learning, avoiding the limits of behaviourism, which has a greater bias towards teaching, and cognitivism/constructivism, which focus their attention on learning and in any case, on that which separates a teacher preparing the environment and a student working in it.

Islamic education today cannot be separated from Islamic education in Islamic classical era. The Prophet Muhammad has served as a central figure of Islamic education from Islamic classical era to modern Era. The implementation of Islamic education in the time of the Prophet Muhammad can be categorized into Meccan period and Medina Period. In Meccan period, the prophet  put emphasis on tawhid, who used to adhare to politism, to adhare to monotism, that is to believe in Allah the only God. The strategy of education employed by the prophet was secret in nature. Initially, he conducated Islamic education amongst the members of his family and his companions then  to more extended cummunity. In Mecca, the Prophet made the house of al-Arqam ibn Abi Al-Arqam, as the centre of  Islamic education.  In Medinan period, the prophet conducted more complex  Islamic  education  than that  he did in Mecca. Islamic education conducted to covered  (a) Islamic brotherhood; (b) social walfare education;  and (c) nation defence education. In this period, it was mosque that served as the centre of Islamic education.

Islamic education today has been tarnished by many students who commit immorality and violate other religious norms. Thus, currently, madrasah principals really need to make policies to revive the religious atmosphere within the madrasah in order to foster student behaviour in accordance with Pancasila education and Islamic law. Considering that the principal is also an educator, the role of the principal is very heavy and noble when linked to the various sources above. As an educator, he must be able to instil, promote and enhance various religious values. To support the creation of a religious atmosphere and comfort in the teaching and learning process, every teacher and student must always behave well and show noble character (akhlaq al-karimah).

In this article, I study Islamic education developing in undulated ways from the classic to modern era, including in Indonesia. There is dynamics in two cases: institution and methodology. In term of institutional dynamics, Islamic educational institutions are established through three phases: mosques, Khan Mosques and madrasahs. In Indonesia, madrasahs are formed from teaching and learning in Muslim leaders’ (kiyais) houses, mosques, Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) and then madrasahs. In term of methodological dynamics, Islamic education in madrasahs is started from lecture, memorization, and open discussion. In Indonesia, the developed methods are lecture given through sorogan, bandongan, and classical ways. Those institutional and methodological dynamics bring about madrasahs have special characteristics as particular Islamic educational institutions. As a result, excellent and model madrasahs have been established recently.

Ibnu Khaldun was the greatest Muslim scientist of his time. His thoughts are futuristic and still be used for today. As a recognized scientist both in the West and in the East, we should take the wisdom points of his thinking in the field of education. Ibnu Khaldun set educational goals that are free from materialistic elements, an integrated curriculum and even holistic teaching and learning methods. Khaldun's view later in the 20th century, along with the development of contemporary learning psychology, we know him with the term gestalt psychology which was introduced by Wolfgang Kohler in 1912 in Germany. Khaldun's three steps in the delivery of teaching material are also in accordance with the theory issued by Kohlerberg about the maturity of one's cognition affecting one's ability to receive things. Therefore, to make closer to the true concept of Ibn Khaldun's education, the writer uses the method of content research which is to make Ibn Khaldun's monumental work: The Muqaddimah as the main reference and several other supporting books. So with this effort we can know that Ibn Khaldun was truly "the great Muslim thinker" whose idea in the field of education is very inspiring and even continue to be used for today. Another idea that is even used as a trend in the world of education today is the study tour learning method (rihlah) and homeschooling (sekolah rumah) and it’s curriculum. Nowadays, Khaldun's bright ideas in the world of education, along with the methods he offered that were global and holistic, are still being used. That’s becoming clear evidence that Ibn Khaldun was a great thinker throughout history.
