In the conditions of turbulent environment, globalization of economic processes, highly competitive market, limited resources, the priority tasks for domestic enterprises are: search for new factors to increase competitiveness; improving and more active use of marketing management tools, and in particular strengthening the importance of its analytical function in strategic decision-making. The solution to this problem is associated with the development and implementation of strategies for active innovative development of enterprises, where the central place should be given to strategic benchmarking, in order to study and apply best practices. It, as the most relevant tool of strategic management, raises research to a qualitatively new level, focuses on anticipating the development of the object of management. Integrating into the management system and corporate culture of the enterprise, strategic benchmarking allows you to set goals that meet the requirements of the global market, to identify the best strategic decisions and business strategies to systematically improve its activities. The need and possibility to use the advanced world and domestic achievements is an urgent need of Ukrainian business. In this regard, the study of methodological approaches to the effective organization of strategic benchmarking and the creation of applied developments that facilitate its implementation in the management system of domestic enterprises, is timely and relevant.

The impact of the Decision Support Systems (DSS) on the organizational intelligence and structure and on the strategic decisions was examined in the paper. Nowadays there is an increasing demand for investments on Information Technology (IT) due to the higher complexity of this field in the global market. Nevertheless, measurement of that perception, especially for the Brazilian reality, is little known. This study aims to analyze the relation between the use of DSS by executives of highest organization levels and their perceptions of the quality of information delivered, decision making speed, enhancements in organization learning and strategic management, and differences in involvement with subordinates. The theoretical model proposed by Leidner, Elam and Corrales (1995) and Leidner and Elam (1999), the main theoretical foundation of the paper, was adapted to the Brazilian reality and extended. We conducted a survey with executives of the 1200 biggest companies in Brazil, evaluating the executives’ perceptions. The main results of the paper confirmed past studies and added new dimensions to the benefits provided by the use of information systems, such as the organization learning principles and the strategic planning process. The paper contributes to the theoretical development of information systems and decision-making fields and with organization management, providing knowledge to support the evaluation of the values created by using Information Systems (IS).

The U.S. Bureau of the Census projects that by 2006, the service sector will employ 74 percent of the workforce. This case illustrates why a major segment of the service sector—banks—needs accurate cost information to make strategic decisions, and how more refined accounting systems help fulfill this need. Buckeye National Bank is a hypothetical bank that has suffered falling profits despite a shift in customer base toward retail customers, which the current information system reports are more profitable than business customers. Following a step-by-step approach, you will develop the Bank's average cost of serving a retail customer account and a business customer account, under (1) the Bank's traditional single allocation base system, and (2) a (pilot test) activity-based costing system. You will analyze these results to determine how and why costs reported by the activity-based system differ from the costs reported by the traditional system, and what this difference means for the Bank's business strategy. Finally, you will consider how the Bank's managers can use the new, more refined activity-based cost data in strategic decision making, including controlling costs and developing more profitable business strategies.

Yuhan-Kimberly's core competence is its strategic decision-making process mechanism. During the early 1990s, Yuhan-Kimberly had some serious weaknesses in its major operational divisions. With multinational companies such as P&G coming into the Korean market, the company had to make important decisions. Fortunately, Yuhan-Kimberly was able to make timely strategic decisions at the top management level, successfully dealing with its weaknesses in order to withstand multi-national corporations much bigger than itself. However, if one considers "strategically sound decisions" are all that Yuhan-Kimberly took to accomplish what it has done today, such comment would miss the point. The unique organizational structure, the corporate culture of Yuhan-Kimberly, and the strategic decision-making process are what made the decisions of senior management possible. Only a close inspection of all these factors will reveal the competitive advantage as well as the core competence of Yuhan-Kimberly as a whole.

In this paper, based on the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis, a matrix of Threats, Opportunities, Weaknesses and Strengths (TOWS) was formed. It represents possible business strategies of the transport company. To choose the right plan, a model based on the integration of Fuzzy PIvot Pairwise RElative Criteria Importance Assessment (fuzzy PIPRECIA), Full Consistency Method (FUCOM) and Measurement Alternatives and Ranking according to COmpromise Solution (MARCOS) methods, has been formed. A case study was conducted in the transport company from Bosnia and Herzegovina which provides services on the domestic and the European Union market for 20 years and belongs to a group of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The SWOT analysis in this transport company was the basis for forming the TOWS matrix, which represents a set of possible business strategies. These strategies are the basis for developing five basic alternatives. The transport company should choose the best one of them for future business. The research focuses on forming a model for choosing the best strategy by which the transport company seeks to improve its business. Decision-making (DM) is not a straightforward sequence of operations, so the harmonization of methods as well as the verification of their results, are essential in the research. This model is applicable in SMEs that make these and similar decisions. Using this model, companies can adjust their business policies to the results of the model and achieve better business results. This research is the first that allows the use of such a model in making strategic decisions.

The international practices of realization of business circularity strategies are researched and systematized. The tendencies in change of value priorities of corporate policy of companies depending on phases of transformation of business models are revealed. The focus on the operational efficiency of production processes is strengthened by the transition to the principles of sustainable development and environmental responsibility, and then the creation of circular value chains. Creating circular value chains requires a change in corporate policy and management tools. The transformation of companies' business models affects its corporate culture. The mission and philosophy of business are changing, fundamentally new integrated indicators for assessing financial, economic and social performance are being formed. Environmental management can bring many benefits to producers of goods: saving money and resources, increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty, improving the morale of employees. The analysis of the structure of investments and investment agreements in digitization projects is performed. It is established that most of the financial resources are directed to waste collection and recycling. This has increased the demand for waste processing equipment and caused structural changes in the engineering market. Positive tendencies of growth of investment attractiveness of circularity projects are revealed. In Ukraine, as in the world society, there are demands for a healthy lifestyle and environmental protection, so the country must create an institutional framework for the implementation of these needs. It is necessary to encourage a new generation of entrepreneurs to learn and innovate, to initiate "green" business strategies for the development of territories and to promote cross-sectoral cooperation. Further research is needed on the divergence of circular business models by industry and practices of adaptive management tools in the context of conceptualization of change and structural redistribution of resources in the environment.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to enhance the knowledge of the antecedents of political behaviour. Whereas political behaviour in strategic decision-making (SDM) has received sustained interest in the literature, empirical examination of its antecedents has been meagre. Design/methodology/approach – The authors conducted a constructive replication to examine the impact of three layers of context, namely, decision, firm and environment, on political behaviour. In Study 1, Greece, we gathered data on 143 strategic decisions, while in Study 2, Egypt, we collected data on 169 strategic decisions. Findings – The evidence suggests that both decision-specific and firm factors act as antecedents to political behaviour, while environmental factors do not. Practical implications – The findings support enhanced practitioner education regarding political behaviour and provide practitioners with a place from which to start by identifying the factors which might influence the occurrence of political behaviour in SDM. Originality/value – The paper fills important gaps in the existing research on the influence of context on political behaviour and delineates interesting areas for further research.

This study addresses the problem of balancing the trade-offs between the need for animal production, profit, and the goal of achieving persistence of desirable species within grazing systems. The bioeconomic framework applied in this study takes into account the impact of climate risk and the management of pastures and grazing rules on the botanical composition of the pasture resource, a factor that impacts on livestock production and economic returns over time. The framework establishes the links between inputs, the state of the pasture resource and outputs, to identify optimal pasture development strategies. The analysis is based on the application of a dynamic pasture resource development simulation model within a seasonal stochastic dynamic programming framework. This enables the derivation of optimum decisions within complex grazing enterprises, over both short-term tactical (such as grazing rest) and long-term strategic (such as pasture renovation) time frames and under climatic uncertainty. The simulation model is parameterised using data and systems from the Cicerone Project farmlet experiment. Results indicate that the strategic decision of pasture renovation should only be considered when pastures are in a severely degraded state, whereas the tactical use of grazing rest or low stocking rates should be considered as the most profitable means of maintaining adequate proportions of desirable species within a pasture sward. The optimal stocking rates identified reflected a pattern which may best be described as a seasonal saving and consumption cycle. The optimal tactical and strategic decisions at different pasture states, based on biomass and species composition, varies both between seasons and in response to the imposed soil fertility regime. Implications of these findings at the whole-farm level are discussed in the context of the Cicerone Project farmlets.

There are few activities so susceptible to the impacts of the macro environment as tourism. In conditions of growing uncertainty, the importance of strategic management is steadily increasing. By studying the environment, by anticipating the future development and implication of trends on enterprises, and by developing appropriate strategies at a number of levels, strategic management seeks to actively influence the increase o f competitive advantages o f both the tourist destinations and tourist enterprises. The term “strategic management” implies a set of management decisions and actions that determine the long-term operations o f enterprises within the management system of tourism: guiding the enterprise by anticipating crucial environmental impacts and internal factors. This management concept is based on the assumption that making properly oriented strategic decisions minimizes the negative effects of the environment and creates strategic advantages for enterprises that can be capitalised only in the medium and long term (Čizmar S. (2001) Strateško upravljanje u funkciji učinkovitog razvoja turističkog ugostiteljstva u Hrvatskoj, doctoral dissertation, University o f Zagreb, Faculty of Economics, Zagreb, p. 3). It represents an integrated approach to strategic management that is the most acceptable for the development of Croatian tourism, as long-term positive results, in both market and financial terms, can be achieved by enterprises within the tourism management system of Croatia only by applying an integrated approach to strategic management, by horizontally and vertically linking the elements of all subsystems of the entire management system and by creating partnering relationships. The Croatian model of strategic management should involve the economic optimisation of all subsystems and systems by establishing efficiency not only across all subsystem elements, but through the system as a whole as well. The level of growth in entrepreneurship and innovations will determine the intensity and speed of positive development changes. These changes will also depend on establishing management responsibilities throughout all segments and managements levels of all subsystems, as well as tourism as an integral system. This paper deals with the issues of strategic management at a micro level with special emphasis on the development of responsibility for managing performance and capital investments.

The purpose of the present study is to identify the main advantages and problems of remote work for both employers and employees, and possible ways to solve them. The article shows a significant number of studies dealt with non-standard forms of labor organization, clarifies the essence of remote work, and examines the main aspects for its effective organization. The main advantages and problems of remote work for employers and employees, as well as possible ways to solve them, are identified based on an expert survey involving 36 experts. According to the conducted study, it can be concluded that the acceleration of scientific and technological progress and adverse epidemiological conditions contribute to the spread of remote work worldwide. This phenomenon has two aspects. On the one hand, remote work, firstly, reduces the unemployment rate and improves the image of the company; secondly, offers flexible working hours; thirdly, protects/retains customers and saves time/transport costs. On the other hand, remote work is associated with the difficulty in maintaining efficiency and teamwork at a high level; secondly, it restricts communication, makes it impossible to perform certain tasks at home; and thirdly, remote work leads to insufficient physical activity, causes difficulties with integration into the corporate culture, etc.

With the development of enterprise information, data resource has become one of the most important assets of enterprises. This paper summarizes the current problems of data resource management of Jinshandian Iron Mine, then it analyzes the area of standards, organizations, systems, processes and management tools, it provides the implementation guide and presents the problems that faced in practice with recommended solutions. The results of practical application show that it has guiding significance on implementing data resource management system of mine enterprises.
