It has been accepted since antiquity that one of the basic principles of the philosophy of Socrates was ‘virtue is knowledge’; that this was so is made abundantly clear by both Plato and Aristotle. It has also been assumed by scholars ancient and modern that Socrates, who believed that in this knowledge lay happiness, spent his life looking for it. In the early dialogues Plato represents Socrates as frequently professing either partial or total ignorance, but as always more or less confidently searching for the truth. The traditional interpretation continues with the belief that somewhere near the time of his first visit to Sicily Plato’s thought began to develop beyond that of his master, and that one of his first advances was his theory of knowledge by recollection, which he developed presumably because of dissatisfaction with Socrates’ ideas on how knowledge could be attained.

Central to dominant jazz history narratives is a midcentury rupture where jazz transitions from popular dance music to art music. Fundamental to this trope is the idea that faster tempos and complex melodies made the music hostile to dancing bodies. However, this constructed moment of rupture masks a longer, messier process of negotiation among musicians, audiences, and institutions that restructured listening behavior within jazz spaces. Drawing from the field of dance studies, I offer the concept of “choreographies of listening” to interrogate jazz's range of socially enforced movement “scores” for audience listening practices and their ideological significance. I illustrate this concept through two case studies: hybridized dance/concert performances in the late 1930s and “off-time” bebop social dancing in the 1940s and 1950s. These case studies demonstrate that both seated and dancing listening were rhetorically significant modes of engagement with jazz music and each expressed agency within an emergent Afromodernist sensibility.

Purpose. To analyze the array of special literature and summarize the information obtained on the features of the white bream (Blicca bjoerkna (Linnaeus, 1758)) and its commercial catch from the Kуiv reservoir. Consider the basic principles of its forecasting, based on the current ecological state of this reservoir, which is of strategic importance for Ukraine. Findings. An overview of modern scientific publications devoted to the peculiarities of the commercial catch of white bream from the Kуiv reservoir, its forecasting and the prospects for using this species in fisheries is presented. The literature data on the specifics of industrial fishing in the Kуiv reservoir are summarized based on the ecological characteristics of this reservoir. The main factors influencing the adaptation of white bream populations to their commercial exploitation are described. The general directions of the impact of anthropogenic pressure on them and their consequences are considered. The prospects of using white bream as an economically valuable species are shown under the condition of rational industrial fishing in the Kуiv reservoir. Practical Value. The review can be useful for scientists, applicants, students, government authorities and private entrepreneurs involved in the process of research and commercial harvesting of living aquatic resources in reservoirs, namely in Kуiv reservoir. The study pioneers the naturalistic search of Bashkirtseva as an artist, which was expressed in her involvement in the creation of a new movement in art, including painting, defined as naturalism. Several aesthetically significant and self-sufficient stages of its development in the creative activity of Maria Bashkirtseva are presented. It is noted that in this process the noblewoman's high education at home with her interest in the interaction of literature and painting, which in due course was understood as aesthetically valuable for painting and the artist, was initially obtained. The importance of the next naturalistic stage of Bashkirtseva is underlined, which is conditioned by her rapid acquisition of the European urban culture, one of the specific features of naturalism, first of all, the French one with the priority of Parisian peculiarities. In this way, it is emphasized that Bashkirtseva was not only focused on the development of critical and pictorial-literary trends in naturalism but also involved in their creation, developing the synthesis of literature and painting. It is emphasized that Bashkirtseva in the mastery of Dostoevsky largely anticipated the concept of Bakhtin, “following” the images of the Russian classic, giving them their naturalistic meaning.

The ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle is widely known as a realist in believing that the real exists in the sensible world and can be known through sense of perception or observation. But, there are others who would claim that he is a moderate realist in believing that the essences are one with physical objects but are known universally and immaterially. Contrary to these popular beliefs, this paper discussed that Aristotle is neither a realist nor a moderate realist but an idealist. The study utilized descriptive critical analysis as its method. The author explained the basic principles and teachings of Aristotle on metaphysics, epistemology and dwelt on these basic principles and teachings as bases of criticism. This article presented Aristotle’s belief that the true essences of things which he referred to as forms, essences or substance are metaphysical or universal which is beyond the physical and therefore beyond the grasp of sensation and observation. In other words, reality for him is only logical or mental in nature for it is not tangible. This also explained that Aristotle’s theory of knowledge (epistemology) which employed the senses to grasp the essences of things is not possible. Keywords - realism, idealism, metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, hylemorphism, essence, form, substance and nature.

The article analyzes the theoretical and practical principles of processing samples of folk music. Musical folklore is transformed in composition and performance, including for bandura, by arrangement and its varieties (harmonization, transposition, arrangement, improvisation, etc.). Musical folklore is an integral part of the bandura’s repertoire, presented in the form of vocal-instrumental and instrumental arrangements, as well as instrumental works for solo and ensemble performance. Authentic, classical and modern methods of music processing, as well as creative (author ‘s) and complex approaches are distinguished. The authentic method is inherent mainly in the art of kobzars-bandurists, who were the authors of dumas, historical and other songs and created them simultaneously with the bandura accompaniment. The classical method has been dominant since the second half of the XXth century up until now. The modern approach occurs mainly from the end of the XXth century. The transformation of folklore samples often consists in changing the genre of the original source, the environment of performance, the functional purpose of the work, the appearance of instrumental bandura accompaniment, the change of group singing into solo performance or vice versa. Genres of Ukrainian musical folklore are widely represented in the art of bandura players in Ukraine and abroad. As a result of the analysis of creativity for a bandura of the second hakf of the XX – beg. XXI centuries, in particular artists of the Ukrainian diaspora, it was found that musical folklore to a greater or lesser extent became the subject of works by L. Haidamaka, O. Herasymenko-Oliinyk, Н. Kytasty, R. Levytsky, V. Mishalow, Y. Oliinyk, P. Potapenko , M. Teliga, Z. Shtokalko and others. It is determined that vocal-instrumental arrangements of folk songs, instrumental arrangements of dance music, as well as instrumental works based on Ukrainian musical folklore, occupy an important place in the work of bandura performers and composers in Ukraine and abroad.

The article is devoted to the analysis of normative-legal regulation of payment of royalties. The main types of royalties under current national legislation have been studied. It is established that the amount and procedure for payment of royalties for the creation of a work are established in the copyright agreement or in agreements concluded on behalf of the subjects of copyright by collective management organizations with persons who use the works. The most important property right of the inventors is the right to remuneration for intellectual activity, which contributes to the formation of promising areas of science and technology. Author's remuneration is a certain payment in favor of the author of the work, due to the use of this work by another person. The right to remuneration does not belong to the number of personal non-property or property copyrights. Legislative consolidation of royalties is a logical necessity for the development of inventive creative activity in Ukraine. The legislation of Ukraine may establish minimum rates of royalties and the procedure for their application and minimum rates of remuneration for the use of related rights and the procedure for their indexation. Despite the economic nature of the fee, its legal nature, in general, is an essential aspect of copyright and, in addition, allows you to assess the current copyright system, both at the level of individual organizations and nationwide. It is determined that the national legislation rather fragmentarily embodies the basic principles of payment of inventory fees, which certainly slows down the progressive processes of inventors and causes legal disputes between inventors, employers and other subjects of legal relations in the field of invention.
