Abstract The word σκηνοποιός (Acts 18:3), a hapax legomenon, has been the subject of intense scrutiny because it may disclose the socio-economic nature of Paul’s trade. However, attempts to reconstruct historically his trade have not confidently identified its accurate historical reference. Since this difficulty derives from Luke’s choice of vocabulary—he uses a word that is very rare in the canon of Greco-Roman literature—this study attends to the word’s rhetorical setting that may explain Luke’s lexical choice. This choice would enhance the word’s symbolic value although weakening its referential value. Σκηνοποιός is plausibly an instance of Lukan etymological wordplay that draws on the continued symbolism of σκηνή in Luke-Acts—a term that captures Luke’s restoration eschatology.

Social challenges and the economy - for all these are the problems that must be addressed by the state together with the business community as a priority in order to ensure sustainable economic growth in the agricultural and fishery sectors. The analysis of the processes of the country's socio-economic development should be considered taking into account the accumulated economic imbalances, technological changes, innovations and the actual external shock of a non-economic nature - the coronavirus pandemic, which triggered the launch of various crisis phenomena affecting all aspects of society. In order to change the established trend of the liberal model of economic development, it is necessary that the role of the state in the transition to a new development model be strengthened, which is due to the need to preserve food security and the integrity of the territory of the Russian Federation. To stimulate innovation and investment activities, to increase the technical and technological level of production, it is necessary, within the framework of the adopted program documents, to allocate the main priorities and the resources necessary for these areas, carrying out constant monitoring of the decisions made. Building a new system of public administration for the implementation of program documents in the development of the agro-industrial complex and the fishery complex will guarantee the achievement of the goals set by the state in a timely manner.

The development of Minoan society has traditionally been considered by scholars to have been an insular phenomenon unique to the southern Aegean. Such assumptions, however, fail to acknowledge the wider context of the Bronze Age in the Eastern Mediterranean. Contact between the people of Crete and their contemporaries in Egypt and the Levant is well attested in the archaeological record, with a plethora of artefacts – imported and imitation – appearing on both sides of the Libyan Sea. Whilst investigations into the economic nature of these exchanges have been undertaken, little thought has been given to the cultural consequences of inter-regional contacts. This thesis examines the evolution of palatial society upon Crete and considers the extent to which interactions with comparatively more mature civilisations may have influenced the increasingly hierarchal trajectory of Minoan society, by re-evaluating the corpus of material culture and interconnectivity.
